But he is still borrowing.
Look, boys and girls, a lot of you people will come here to call me taxman, agbero, etc....but the hard truth is, so long as our budget is 80% reliant on monies from oil, we will borrow, and borrow more, and borrow, until we learn how to run our economy and government properly and face hard truths.
The budget for this year was based on the idea that oil prices will remain at least at 75 dollars per barrel. AND EVEN THEN...the government had to borrow 13 bn dollars extra. That is at Jan 1 2025. Since then, oil has fallen, and will keep falling this year. It is now at 60 dollars per barrel and has even been at 59 dollars per barrel. And it is going to keep falling. And here is a scary fact, we need oil to be at 130-39 dollars per barrel before we can say we got enough money...so even with all that, we are broke. AND THE ANNOYING THING...is that stealing is still in progress eg the budget padding happened this year as usual.
(Oh, and for agbadorians, that is why GEJ borrowed. Despite oil prices being high under his government, for the most part they did not 130 dollars per barrel).
But, forgetting corruption, oil prices have fallen far below the benchmark, that if Nigeria does not borrow, the government won;t be able to pay nothing, nada, zilch in salaries, contracts, etc. Which means people would be out of money and out of luck.
That is why, since we got independent, we should have gone industrial...but no. All of you calling for army rule...the times we have had army rule, none of them did the needful and improved industrial development. We have never had a general park type ruler. And we never will because of our oil dependent narrative.
Tinubu should have raised money by raising our tax to gdp ratio, raising income from alternative means, and by actually fighting corruption, and also by encouraging diversification. (I don't want to hear any it takes time to do things). And he should have removed power subsides as well....so that the sector can grow. And he should have started all this on June 1 2023.
Manufactured goods and services. Dutch disease.
Oil is a CURSE.
Interesting thought, unfortunately most of our political office holders are not cerebral enough to appreciate this line of thought, they are mostly merchantile in nature and transactional in their dealings, both recipe for disaster for a nation struggling for identity

If you want to be responsible with your money, that's totally fine with me, but if I come home the following day with shopping bags, don't ask me where I got the money from the same way I won't ask you about your finances.
And if I tell you that I'm going on a girls vacation, don't ask me who's paying for the vacation... Just watch and go ahead and do you while I do me.
You live for shopping bags I guess, so go ahead and fill as many you possibly can, so long as I have my peace and my exclusive garden remains exclusive

I am not sure your point is relevant if you're familiar with the strategic advantages Yemen has that is not even the drones but its rugged mountainous terrains and the iron-clad backing of Iran.
If you want to turn your people to Houthis, you need to first have your own country like the Houthis and to get an Iran to back you and huge mountain terrains that you can build long tunnel under. Yemen is Houthis and Houthis is Yemen. Nigeria is Nigeria so you are comparing apples and oranges.
That you have drones doesn't translate into reason to jump into war or insurrection.
Any Nigerian or part of Nigeria that foolishly embark on insurrection will be bombed like hell!
Pray no part of Nigeria embarks on insurrection , cause there won't be anyone to do your bombing to hell

The double standard is mind boggling. This is how democracy dies and dictatorship is born
If Obama did any of this, it would be a different outcome, and much more outrage, reason being that he's a black man, the same africans worshipping Donald trump today would have labelled him a typical blackman.
8 good years in office without a single scandal
The hatred and racism is real in America
What makes Obama a black man. Folks like me see him as an individual with mixed parentage. In other words, once white gene comes in with the black gene it's purity becomes diluted that it can no longer be considered to be white

Some Boys Make Fun of Elisha
Elisha went from that city to Bethel. He was walking up the hill to the city, and some boys were coming down out of the city. They began making fun of him. They said, “Go away, you bald-headed man! Go away, you bald-headed man!”
Elisha looked back and saw them. He asked the Lord to cause bad things to happen to them. Then two bears came out of the forest and attacked the boys. There were 42 boys ripped apart by the bears. Kings 2:23-25
And you are absolutely convinced that God sanctioned the death of 42 boys for that. I believe in God, but not this one you are referring to

People who condemn the pastor and asked "why the girl needs pepple to forgive her" or to "show grace" and all the other drudgery are MYOPIC.
This is the WHOLE point of a church:
A community of people who hold each other to CLEARLY-DEFINED standards of virtues and morals.
ability is PARAMOUNT!
You don't attend EVERY Sunday and Midweek service just to end up as a SINGLE MOTHER.
You'd be a DISGRACE to the entire congregation.
That means you have LIED and DECEIVED them by PRETENDING to uphold their set standards while in church just to be FUCCKING like a porrnstar outside the church.
That's HYPOCRISY!
SHAME and STIGMA are effective tools for societal cohesion.
When someone misbehaves, SHAME them in punlic.
In fact, the Pastor was TOO lenient.
Were I in his position, she'd be EXCOMMUNICATED immediately after the apology.
The FAKE tears are so annoying.
She's getting ready to bring another FATHERLESS black child into the world.
What did she expect?
Praise?
She should count her blessings that she was only asked to apologise and NOT cast out as a PARIAH.
The anger I feel in this post is not Christlike, some of the people she's apologizing to have been pregnant and terminated it. If she had done same, she will continue in the hypocrisy of congregational validation which won't take her to heaven. What's wrong with private counseling sessions with the pastor with regard to helping her be better than she is. If we all have to seek forgiveness publicly in church, church service no go ever end, because sin plenty, and all man de inside, including the chief acc Pastor Jackson

But that's the truth.
Take away Aba, Abia state crumbles economically.
Now let me shock you!
I am not from Abia state hence my unbiased assessment and submission.
Have a great day.
ABA is what it is, not because of Ngwa people, but because of it's location and value to the British colonial istration, and Abia state is fortunate to benefit from that legacy. It is therefore unfortunate that this should be used as discriminatory bragging rights, instead of further enhancing it's capacity to maximize the potentials in other parts of the state and Nigeria
