Not the one you quoted, but why people ask for recommendations for service providers like mortgage brokers is in the hope of being able to get first-hand testimony of the experience working with them. Anyone can write compelling website text (which is what Google or AI will show).

The family of Janet Damiro, a 71-year-old cleaner recently dismissed from the London School of Economics, has responded to widespread reports surrounding the incident, describing the online and media narratives as misleading and lacking critical context.

The victim’s daughter, Aina Damiro, in a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Friday, clarified the events that led to her mother’s dismissal, stating that the situation has been “blown out of proportion.”

According to her, the incident occurred in February during the final minutes of Janet’s morning shift when she found a bracelet on the floor.

She reportedly picked it up with the intention of handing it in but inadvertently forgot.

She said that the bracelet was left untouched in her coin wallet, which remained in her locker at the university.

“When approached about the bracelet a few days later, she was honest and cooperative.

“She retrieved it immediately and explained what had happened. There was no denial or attempt to hide it,” she said.

The family insists this was a case of forgetfulness rather than theft or misconduct, stressing that Janet had served the institution faithfully for years.

They argued that the university’s decision to terminate her employment was a disproportionate response lacking empathy, especially for an older worker nearing retirement.

The family said, “To see her name and image used to suggest wrongdoing is not only unfair but deeply hurtful.

“This was an innocent mistake that has been misrepresented in a way that raises questions about how older workers, particularly women of colour in lower-paid roles, are treated.”

The family stated that Janet granted the interview to the Metro UK in good faith, hoping to raise awareness, not to be vilified.

“We hope the public and media will reconsider how they are framing this story,” the family added, urging institutions to reflect on their duty to vulnerable and long-serving of staff.

The London School of Economics has not issued a formal response as of press time.

The case has since sparked conversation online under hashtags such as #JusticeForJanet and #RespectElderWorkers.

According to his devastated sister, Numdarai Joy Wulumba, her brother had reached out to her on May 4, 2025, to inform her of his detention.

The Nigerian Air Force Command in Bauchi State is making frantic efforts to cover up the incident of an officer, Wulumba A.S., who died in the guardroom after he was detained for arriving late to duty due to an illness, SaharaReporters has learnt.

SaharaReporters gathered that Wulumba, a member of the 2003 regular intake and attached to the elite Special Operations Command (SOC) in Bauchi, ed away while being held in the guardroom on the orders of his commanding officer, one Group Captain Ofile.

His service number was NAF 03/21103.

According to his devastated sister, Numdarai Joy Wulumba, her brother had reached out to her on May 4, 2025, to inform her of his detention.

He had reported late to his duty post after suffering health complications, but despite explaining his condition, the Commander allegedly ignored his plea and ordered his detention.

“My late brother called me that day to say he was being sent to the guardroom. He said his offence was arriving late due to illness, but his commander wouldn’t listen. After that call, we never heard from him again — until we were told yesterday (Friday) that he was dead,” Numdarai recounted tearfully in an interview with SaharaReporters.

She further expressed disbelief and outrage over the military’s handling of the situation.

“I’ve lived near military formations all my life. I know the rules. Detention for minor offences like lateness is not supposed to exceed 24 hours. He should have been court-martialled if necessary — not locked up indefinitely. Now he’s gone. Let them enjoy the consequences.”

Wulumba A.S., a father of four, leaves behind a grieving mother, wife, and only sister.

His family is now demanding justice and calling on President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian military high command to immediately investigate the cause and circumstances of his death.

“We want answers. He served this country for over 20 years. Is this how they treat their own?” she cried.

When SaharaReporters ed the spokesperson for the Air Force in Bauchi, Flight Lieutenant Ogili Friday Miracle, his response was dismissive and raised further questions about transparency.

“I don’t have any information — we’re on holiday now,” he said flatly.

Pressed further on whether it was acceptable for such a grave incident to go unnoticed by the military, the spokesperson said, “If you want information, go to the family. I have nothing to give you.”

The family alleged that Wulumba’s death was avoidable and vowed to pursue justice until those responsible are held able.

This incident adds to growing concerns over the welfare and human rights of personnel within Nigeria’s security forces, particularly those who speak out or report challenges.

Gideonski:
Over the past two years I have been having serious thoughts about religion, Christianity in particular because I was raised a Christian. A lot of things don't make sense to me lately and I will explain my points now.
1. Salvation: Christians believe that without salvation, which is accepting Jesus into your life, you're going to hell. But I have been curious to know what is the fate of these categories of people: People who existed before Jesus was born, and people who by their background, are likely not Christians. I mean, if I were born in India or Pakistan, I would like be a Hindu or a Muslim. If you were born in that region, you're likely to die practicing the religion of your parents and never get the chance of hearing about Jesus.
2. Religion seems to forbid you asking critical questions: I have come to realise that you're not allowed to ask critical questions if it is seen as a threat to how the system has been organised. Even if you do, you're told something that is very shallow and unconvincing.
I have once tried to ask why God decided to choose a small tribe in Israel to start the salvation of mankind and risk a lot of people in other civilisations not being aware of anything.
As always, I was given another unconvincing answer.
3. Teachings from the Bible sounds good, but not really applicable to real life situations: Imagine you're coming from church and somehow you enter into an argument with a bus conductor and he suddenly slapped you in the face. What would you do? Would you 'turn the other cheek ' like Jesus said or fight back? We are humans, and most times, we act as our emotions leads us. We're fallible and yet we're to live with the burden of being perfect enough for heaven. How is that possible.
I'm beginning to start believing that Christianity is an ideological concept, not very different from other religions.
I have a thousand thoughts concerning the whole Idea of Christianity, but let me stop here yet.
4. Money and billing is driving me crazy!: I attend a Pentecostal church, and to be honest, I don't agree with some of the doctrines. Why would you tell people to bring half their salary every January to sow seed? That's outrageous if you ask me. I watch as I see people being milked dry with multiple offerings every service.
Events upon events that dig holes in the pockets of in the name of contribution. Like, I'm tired! The church doesn't even know how you survive from Monday to Saturday or how your life outside church is like.
I think I will stop going to church for now.
Christianity is not a religion. Its a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus through the holy spirit. Pray, read ur Bible and fast until you start hearing God speak to you clearly which always matches with his word. Until then...
