The boss was so toxic..

He insulted my papa the insult he was already insulting me..

I asked him what my papa did to deserve the insult..
He insulted my mama .

I just turned and carried my bag and walked out -- without even shutting down the system I was using, nor even clocking-out at the digital registry system.
And that was it.

My colleagues later told me that the boss was so shocked at how I left,, and that he couldn't come out of his office after that moment till after a week or so, and he even changed from how he used to insult them.

This action of yours should be rightly called - setting a very, very good precedent.

Tolerating this kind of unfriendly, bullish, uncouth attitude only seeks to reinforce them.

Trust me, if you were impactful during your brief spell with him, it would go a long way to put him in order as he relates with other employees he'd hire after you.

Just because I have to work for you to get my daily bread does not mean I have to tolerate all kinds of nonsense thrown at me.

Good one. Good for you.

Nigerians don’t. Nigerians haven’t and Nigerians never will.

Then you really don’t know much. The ones you’ve met are maybe bootlickers or scared to take risks. Some people resign even on very good pay because the stress is to much associated with it. No time for yourself or personal development. Ask some bankers especially core staff why they resigned and you’ll call them mad for doing so in this garri era.

I wouldn't say Nigeria is overpopulated since we're not even among the top 5 most populated in the world, the only issue is that we have a comatose industrial sector and there's not enough commercial activities going on.

If we had stable power supply with thriving industries, even foreigners would the work force despite our population.

Also, government regulations aren't helping matters. A lot of the entrepreneurs trying to provide jobs are being frustrated by poor government policies and multiple taxation, that's why some bosses are frustrated and their staff are not enjoying benefits. If you observe, most of the people complaining here were working for small businesses, whereas they don't know the struggles their own bosses are going through to stay afloat, but I don't condone a toxic working environment.
Nigeria is kinda over populated.
Our average number per square area is alarming.
Why do you think we can provide constant electricity to our neighboring small countries and not ourselves.
Government can only do so much with our number geometrically rising rapidly.

I was working at this popular logistics company branch in computer village Ikeja, so one of us left and I was moved to the Yaba branch.

The TL there was toxic, Baba said he resume 06:00hrs and close 20:00hrs, when the official time is suppose to be 08:00-17:00. When I complained to the HR, the HR ed the TL; That was when I knew my time was up.

I later find out the TL was always fighting with his wife, so he needed a hideout to stay away from the wife.
He was not a graduate and got intimidated by we graduate

When I look back 7years after, I just knew it was God that moved me to Yaba because I was to comfortable at Ikeja and I wouldn't have been close to where I am today

From the day my ex wife came to my workplace, met my CEO and reported me to my supervisor about our marriage issue.

The most painful part is the lies she lied against me, and rubbishing me before my supervisor whom we always have office issues before.

I had to leave the next month when at an occasion of argument with my supervisor, he mentioned that I should keep quiet, "you that you can not put your home together" He said!

I changed it for him like mad, and that was my last day there.

The weyrey wife couldn't get the monthly stipend anymore as no job is at hand!

As a banker, in 2013, I was flown to EFCC headquarters for a crime I knew nothing about.
My offence was that I was the officer to the culprit.
There, I saw bankers shed tears on crimes they knew nothing about but we're going in for it because they were "friendly" in dealings with these criminals.

Returning, I was again, summoned to the PH office for yet another customer who allegedly committed crime with a student I opened for him.

I went to his school, only to confirm that the ission letter, school fees onllie receipt and iD he provided were fake.
All course resps were invited and non could identify him.
It was clear he had possibly committed a crime. I don't know what it was. There was no BVN then.
At that point, I was like, I am done with this job.

It's not funny 🤣 🤣 🤣

The fact is that it's not so much about our population, it's about the redundancy and the lack of infrastructure. If we had a 300 million population and we put the right things in place Nigeria would be far more productive than most western countries and that's my point.

Look at the North for instance there are so many people in the North there's so much land for agriculture, especially in the north central, but we have a situation where farmers cannot even work well because of insecurity.

Population ought to be an advantage for us if we have the right things in place.

Coldhubs limited is a terrible place to work. If you come 2 minutes late ,they will deduct 20,000 naira from your salary. No structure,no leave, no work life balance, their finance guy is the one running things there. The company is a mess.

I worked for a very popular MD in a renowned oil company.

The man is a devil's advocate.

I was happy I worked under him and experienced all the employee abuse,

Nothing
You get a promotion, your job role and duties will be tripled but your salary gets a 2k5 top up.
Capitalism at its peak,

I was happy because the experience made me swear never to work for anyone ever in my life again, I almost tore my certificates
He made his staff work on Saturdays without pay, but if u miss a day due to illness you are deducted twice wat your daily ay calculation was.

There was a Muslim holiday for 2days I had to stay home to be sure I wasn't imagining things,

End of month my salary was deducted times 4, oh wow, this one na die. Had to get rid of all my certificates, and went into street hustling,

If I post the man name here , you do Google search and see him, you will not believe such a person that enjoyed so much employee welfare in a foreign oil company in Nigeria will subject people to slavery under his own company,.

Ppl wicked for this Nigeria oo

I can believe o. I have heard some stories about some IOCs and how they are paying their staff.

While I agree with you on the problem of overpopulation in our country. China actually has serious unemployment problems as well.
China is not exactly eldorado. There is press and propaganda. But there's also real fundamentals to determine the actual state of an economy:

China is currently grappling with significant unemployment challenges, particularly among its youth. The official youth unemployment rate, previously reported to exceed 20%, was discontinued in August 2023, raising concerns about transparency. The labor market is under strain due to a combination of slow economic recovery, structural issues, and declining demand in critical sectors like real estate and manufacturing.

Young adults are increasingly disillusioned, as reflected in social trends like "lying flat" (tang ping), where individuals opt out of high-pressure societal expectations. The difficulty in finding jobs is exacerbating social unrest and weakening public trust in the government. Additionally, these employment issues are compounded by broader economic challenges, such as a declining property market and stagnating private investment, which further limit job creation

With confidence and boldness he said the boss will not do anything, the I reported the matter to my Boss and 6 children nothing was done so, the family gave me instruction, I follow it and the driver told me, I should follow his own instruction, which I didn't and he gave me two slap, which would have resulted to fight, my boss family are Muslim from Kaduna and the driver is also a Muslim from Kaduna same town and local Government with me Boss family.

I went back to my sit with a smile knowing fully well that I won't be resuming the next day.

Another was when I was told, 10k would be deducted from my salary if I stay till 6 months plus if something should spoil or get damaged ALL staff would pay for it and you have CCTV undecided

I’ve not had the luxury of such because this is Nigeria. I’m surprised mongrels in this forum have done so. I don’t believe 90% of the stories posted.

I’ll use my time on Nairaland as my example. When I penned 10,000 comments only to realize I learned nothing here, saw many topics recycled and bingos came here only with trolling as their intention. Shout out to whichever will post an waist bead topic to the front page.

These stories I am reading are so sad. Well, it is entirely our fault. When we say we need to work on overpopulation, the majority of those who are suffering continue to insult us. Lol. Even ladies who are supposed to be happy are more likely to insult us.

No matter how great Nigeria is, with our population growing at such a rapid pace, we cannot avoid unemployment. When there are too many of us, why do not they treat us like trash? Is it possible that Estonia, Finland, or even the current China will treat their labor force as trash when they know they are needed? However, go to China when they have not yet addressed overpopulation (they used to be worse than India).I laugh ooo.

Good luck to you all. Enjoy your s..hits...in peace.
You proudly think overpopulation is the culprit of unemployment.
