ABAKALIKI

In a powerful rebuttal that has sent shockwaves across the political spectrum in Ebonyi State, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the 2023 governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has come out with a categorical statement refuting alleged defection plans to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This response follows recent comments credited to the Ebonyi State APC Chairman, Mr. Stanley Okoro Emegha, who suggested that Chief Odii was considering crossing over to the ruling party.

In a sharp, articulate, and highly principled response, Chief Odii dismissed the claims as baseless, speculative, and symptomatic of a party grappling with declining credibility and public trust.

“Let me categorically state that I am not considering ing the APC, now or in the foreseeable future. I am yet to see any compelling reason—ideological, political, or developmental—that would warrant such a decision,” the PDP stalwart stated in his official release.

Odii’s statement, widely circulated among political watchers and grassroots ers, stands as a stark contrast to what many describe as the APC’s culture of political opportunism and backdoor deals. Rather than chase power for its own sake, the philanthropist-turned-politician reiterated his unflinching commitment to people-driven leadership, transparent governance, and the democratic ideals upon which the PDP was built.

“My focus remains on contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of our dear state and nation, through platforms and processes that truly reflect the will and welfare of the people,” he emphasized.

Analysts say the APC’s move to associate Odii with defection rumours may reflect growing anxiety within its ranks. With the PDP steadily regaining momentum across Ebonyi, Chief Odii remains one of the most influential and unifying figures among the opposition, particularly in the post-election period where his commitment to the people has never wavered.

An APC stalwart who spoke in anonymity says that "Our is clearly threatened, Chief Odii is not just a politician; he’s a movement."

Throughout the 2023 campaign season and beyond, Chief Odii has stood out for his people-oriented programs, unwavering focus on justice and equity, and a developmental blueprint that many believe still holds the key to Ebonyi’s transformation.

While the APC continues to engage in media distractions and speculative politics, Odii has doubled down on what matters most—building a society where leadership answers to the people, not to party dictates.

Following the publication of Odii’s statement, reactions poured in across Ebonyi. From Izzi to Ezza, Ohaozara to Ikwo, ordinary citizens, youth groups as well as women’s associations affirming their for the PDP figurehead. Many believe Odii is the voice of the voiceless who gave hope when others gave mere slogans.

In a closing shot, Odii urged all political actors, especially those in leadership, to uphold integrity, truthfulness, and responsibility in public discourse

“Leadership is not about peddling rumours. It’s about inspiring trust, leading by example, and building bridges of progress—not walls of propaganda.”

As the political future of Ebonyi continues to unfold, one truth remains unshaken: Chief Ifeanyi Odii is not for sale. He stands, unwavering, with the people. And for the people.

The Sector Commander
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)
Ebonyi State Command Headquarters
Abakaliki, Ebonyi State
3rd Day of June, 2925.

OPEN LETTER TO THE FRSC SECTOR COMMANDER, EBONYI STATE
Re: Dangerous Conduct of Personnel at Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway.

Dear Sector Commander,

URGENT CALL FOR DISCIPLINARY ACTION AND POLICY REFORM ON RECKLESS ENFORCEMENT TACTICS

I write this open letter to bring to your immediate attention a deeply troubling incident involving personnel under your command who were seen in a viral video double-crossing road s along the Abakaliki/Enugu Expressway using an official service vehicle on the 3rd Day of June, 2025.

This act, apart from being grossly unprofessional, directly contradicts the mandate of the Federal Road Safety Corps as enshrined in the FRSC (Establishment) Act, 2007, particularly Section 10, which tasks the Corps with:

> "Preventing or minimizing road accidents and educating motorists and other road s on proper highway conduct."

The tactics employed in this instance recklessly swerving across lanes to trap an unsuspecting commuter is not only a dangerous enforcement method but a potential trigger for fatal road accidents. It encourages panic driving, abrupt braking, and swerving by motorists who are trying to avoid what appears to them as a road ambush. This kind of engagement has no place in a modern, safety-oriented road traffic system.

Moreover, such behaviour runs contrary to the FRSC’s public code of conduct, which emphasizes:

* Civility and professionalism in traffic enforcement
* Respect for the rights of road s
* Use of clear, safe, and lawful procedures in highway patrol operations

APPEAL

In light of the foregoing, I respectfully call on your office to:

1. Immediately identify the personnel involved in the incident and initiate internal disciplinary measures in accordance with FRSC rules and federal service regulations.
2. Issue a public directive banning the use of aggressive interception tactics, such as double-crossing or sudden highway obstructions, by your officers in Ebonyi State.
3. Enhance supervisory oversight of highway patrol units and retrain officers on lawful traffic engagement.
4. Use this opportunity to reassure the public that the Corps remains committed to safety and professionalism—not fear, intimidation, or lawlessness.

As a respected federal institution, the FRSC must not allow individual misconduct to discredit the Corps or endanger public safety. Holding officers able is not only just—it is necessary to restore confidence in your mission and prevent a recurrence of such dangerous behaviour.

Should no reasonable and visible improvement be observed in this matter within a reasonable period, this issue will be escalated to higher authorities and broader civil society platforms to ensure ability and institutional reform.

The safety of every road must remain the highest priority. This open letter is made in good faith for the purpose of public policy and well-being.

Yours sincerely,

Onwe Darlington Peter Executive Director | IGHUSUF Africa

Commander Chibouyi Applauds Gov. Nwifuru's Diplomatic Approach in Tackling Insecurity in Ebonyi

.......Hence His Second Term Endorsement

Prince Victor Chibouyi Nwenyi, who is the State Commander of the Ebonyi State Neighbourhood Watch and also in charge of internal security, has applauded Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru's diplomatic and tactical approach in tackling insecurity in the state.

Commander Nwenyi, who expressed his iration for the governor's performance in strategic peacebuilding over the past two years, observed that the moves are not far-fetched from ensuring the delivery of the governor's charter of needs agenda, particularly in hitherto warring communities, in his words:

"Our rural areas, where there used to be crises before he came, have become very peaceful; people no longer have an interest in going to war, and that is because my governor always goes deep into solving the root cause of issues, and once he does that, the problem is settled.

"He has successfully used his diplomatic approach to stop the war in Ezillo, Izzi, and Effium. Instead of blaming anyone, he decided to create new autonomous communities, which is highly commendable, and considering his performance in the security of Ebonyi State, he deserves a second tenure." Nwenyi said.

Nwenyi commended the governor's ingenuity in ensuring that the street lights across the state capital are always active, saying that most of the crimes are being committed in dark places, but the security lights have been helping the security agencies in the state to do their jobs, which is commendable.

He applauded the governor for the provision of necessary equipment to aid the job and also noted his commitment to the welfare of security agencies in the state in timely payment of salaries and allowances, which has gone a long way to boost the morale of his men to reciprocate by hard work.

"His Excellency has been doing a great job to ensure the safety of the lives and properties of people in the state; he has ensured the provision of the necessary equipment we need, for example, the distribution of the Ijeoma patrol vehicles, among others. Ebonyi today is the most secured state in the southeast and even in Nigeria." He boasted.

Commander Nwenyi equally praised the governor's impacts in of human and capital development by engaging the youths in various meaningful empowerment schemes, which has drastically reduced idleness and the urge to commit crimes amongst them.

"His impacts on human and capital development are what people have not been paying attention to, but it has helped us so much in the security sector because an idle man, they say, is a devil's workshop, but when you engage the youths, they will not have the time to be indulging in crime.

"Most crimes are committed by youths, but since he's giving them a sense of belonging through several empowerment programmes, they have no reason to go into crime.

"His achievements so far are wonderful; in his people's charter of needs agenda, security is the number one priority because it is only where there is peace that you will talk about development." He added.

“EVERY CHILD, EVERY VOICE”: DR. ODII URGES ACTION FOR SAFE, EMPOWERED FUTURE ON CHILDREN’S DAY.

Abakaliki, Ebonyi State –May 27, 2025 –

As the world commemorates World Children’s Day 2025, the standard bearer of the People’s Democratic Party in Ebonyi State, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, FHL, has issued a powerful call to action urging stakeholders across Ebonyi State to unite in ending bullying, upholding child rights, strengthening community responsibility, and empowering young people to lead.

In a message titled “A Brighter Future Begins Today”, the 2023 PDP gubernatorial candidate described the day as “not merely a celebration, but a solemn reminder of our shared duty to protect and uplift the next generation.”

Speaking directly to children and youth, Dr. Odii reinforced the theme of this year’s celebration —“Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation” —describing it as a mandate to build safe spaces in every school, home, playground, and online platform.

“To every child who has ever been bullied, silenced, or made to feel small—you are not alone,” he declared. “Your voice matters, your pain is seen, and your future is brighter than any shadow cast upon you.”

Dr. Odii also reflected on the broader global movement for children’s rights, referencing the 1989 adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Nigeria’s 2003 Child Rights Act. While praising these legal frameworks, he emphasized the need for grassroots action.

“Laws are not enough,” he warned. “We must live them, teach them, and build institutions that make children’s rights real in everyday life.”

Another major theme of his message was the role of adults and communities in shaping children's lives. Addressing parents, teachers, and leaders, he described their responsibilities as sacred. “We must reject all forms of violence—physical, emotional, and digital—and raise children who are confident, curious, and kind,” he said.

Underscoring his message of youth empowerment, Dr. Odii called on children to dare to dream and to believe in their ability to drive change: “You are not too young to make a difference. The future belongs to you.”

He concluded with a ionate call for sustained investment in child welfare, education, and mental health, urging government bodies and communities to treat every child as a priority—not just on special occasions, but every day.

“To every child in Ebonyi and beyond—know that you are seen, you are loved, and you are powerful,” he said.

World Children’s Day celebration, marked annually in Nigeria on the 27th of May, serves as a veritable platform to highlight children’s rights and advocate for their protection, participation, and development.

"What we have tried to do here is to expose NGOs to the rules and regulations governing these frameworks and the need for them to keep records and be diligent in knowing who they are dealing with and to also appoint a compliance officer," he said.

However, Proff maintained that the idea is not about tasking NGOs from monies received through donations, but to create a channel for them to recognize that to put the government able, they should be able to demonstrate by ensuring that their staffs are up to date with task compliance.

In his remark, Chief Aja Oliver Oliver Chima, the Director of DIG foundation applauded the initiative saying it would improve the NGOs compliance nation wide and urged civil society organizations to comply.

"If you are holding government able, you too need to actually make sure that your recordrecords are also up to date, so that government will not come after you, so, we, as civil society organizations need to keep our records, it is proper and we need to do but" Ajah said.

Recall that the programme which was themed "Strengthening a community of practice to improve CSO regulatory environment in Nigeria" is anchored by Global Rights and funded by the European Union.

The full communique reads:
HELD THIS 19TH DAY OF MAY, 2025 IN FCT, ABUJA

BACKGROUND:

1. On the 11th day of May,2025 the PD had an expanded meeting of its Governors Forum, which had in its attendance Former Governors of PDP, some NWC and other major stakeholders aimed at resolving lingering political misunderstandings in the PDP Family.

2. The aforesaid meeting in its wisdom set up a-7 man reconciliatory Committee headed by a former two-time Governor of Kwara State and President of the Senate of National Assembly, Dr. Bukola Saraki to calm down the frayed and navigate the best way to have a smooth National Executive Committee Meeting and National Convention.

3. Earlier, on the 8th day of May,2025, one “Hon. Chief James O. Ugwu”. had purporting to write as Zonal Secretary, PDP, South East Zone, sent out invitations to diverse persons for a Zonal Executive Committee Meeting of the PDP, South East to hold at Banquet Hall, Old Government Lodge, Abakiliki Road, Enugu State on Wednesday, 14th May, 2025.

4. On the said 14th day of May, 2025 there was no meeting as stated in the said invitation and notice of a change of venue, but a meeting was held at Lion Building, Government House, Enugu State, which as reported in the print and electronic media was said to be a meeting of the Zonal Executive Committee, South East, presided over by one expelled former National Vice Chairman, South East, PDP, Chief Ali Odefa.

5. The attendees, in what was an obvious plot to torpedo the noble objectives of the Dr. Bukola Saraki-led Reconciliatory Committee, at the end of the said meeting issued a communique, read by Chief Ali Odefa, purporting to be the National Chairman, (South East), albeit falsely, claiming that the South East Zonal Executive of PDP “…unanimously recommended Hon. Sunday Ude-Okoye, as a candidate to complete the term of office of the National Secretary” and that unless this is done “… the South East PDP as a family will be compelled to reconsider our relationship with the PDP going forward”.

6. Realizing the effect of allowing the false narrative captured in the accursed communique to be accepted in the political space as the proper and lawful state of affairs, and conscious of the lethal legal consequences on the structure of the PDP in the South East of allowing the decisions of an illegal gathering of usurpers in the hallowed recesses of Government House, Enugu to be acted upon as the decision of ZEC, South East,

7. We, PDP South East stakeholders comprising BOT , National Working Committee , former Governor, Senators, Honourable of House of Representatives and House of Assembly , past and present, the National Vice Chairman, South East and Zonal Working and major high net worth of the PDP across the States in the South East hereby, resolve thus:

RESOLUTIONS:

1. We commend the leadership of the PDP for setting up the Dr. Bukola Saraki-led Reconciliatory Committee and we are hopeful that the outcome will be in line with the legal status of the state of affairs in the PDP as espoused in the constitution and decisions of the courts, and that major gladiators would abide by the outcome. It is hoped that the vile aim of the outcome of said meeting held at Government House, Enugu directed by the conveners and attendees at sabotaging the effort of the Reconciliatory Committee would come to nought.

2. The Supreme Court has settled, with finality, the status of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, and it is on record that the INEC has, rightly, given effect to the said judgment, which is the right thing to do.

3. In view of 2 above, we hereby serve a note of advice that, in the istration of the PDP, it is impossible to ignore the lawful status of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the PDP and any attempt to stand against this clear position of the law will cause irreversible political damages because INEC would not give effect to the outcome of conventions, congresses and primary elections that do not have the signature of the lawful National Secretary.

4. In the same breath, it is important to stress that the Deputy National Secretary can only act in the absence of the National Secretary as evident in the constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party. The clear and express provision of the PDP Constitution is that the offices of the National Secretary and Deputy National Secretary are not conjunctive. Accordingly, the pathway of directing the Deputy National Secretary to act in a situation where the National Secretary is not absent is an endorsement of illegality, which cannot stand legal scrutiny.

5. We, therefore, call on the National Working Committee and in particular, the Acting National Chairman, to abide by the clear provisions of the Constitution of the PDP and comply with the Supreme Court judgment in order to steer the Party on the path of legality.

6. The PDP is a political party which evolved on the altar of constitutional democracy founded on respect for the rule of law. On this note we demand that the Board of Trustees, the conscience of the Party, and the Governors Forum must give full effect to the tenets of rule of law, and the manifest implication of this historic burden, is that both bodies, do not have a choice other than to respect the status of Senator Samuel Anyawu as the lawful National Secretary.

7. The recommendation and threat by the attendees at the meeting held in Government House, should be ignored because the said meeting was not a lawful meeting of any organ of the PDP arising from the fact that:

(1) Hon. Dr. Chief Ali Odefa, had, several months ago, ceased to be a member of the PDP, following his expulsion by his ward, a state of affairs that was given judicial confirmation in a final judgment of the 26th day of January, 2025 by the Federal High Court, Holden at Abakiliki, in SUIT NO. FHC/AI/227/2024 : HON. IDIKA MOSES EZE & 3 ORDS V. CHIEF ALI ODEFA & 2 ORDS.

(2) The Zonal Congress being touted by Hon. Ali Odefa which purportedly held on the 26th day of February, 2025 was not the Zonal Congress of the PDP. This is because there was a valid court order of the Federal Capital Territory, in SUIT No. FCT/HC/CV/325/2025: BARR. MIKE NATHAN NWANKWO V. PDP &5 ORDS. stopping the congress. In addition, the presence of Anambra State delegates at the Congress effectively nullified the said Congress because those delegates were not the lawful delegates of the PDP of Anambra State arising from the order of the Federal Capital Territory in SUIT NO. FCT/HC/ 3271/ 2024 MOSES N. AKAM & ANOR V.PDP & 3 ORDS. which nullified the delegates’ list. This is, also, the same with the delegates list of Ebonyi State which was nullified by the decision of the Federal High Court on the 11th day of November, 2024 in SUIT NO: FHC/AI/ CS/183/2024HON. NNENNA LYNDA UDE & 12 ORDS V. PDP & ANOR.

Finally on this point, the spurious court order of the High Court of Enugu State in SUIT NO: E/132/2025 HON HIGH CHIEF DR. ODEFA ALI OBASI & ANOR. V. PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY procured by Chief Ali Odefa and his co-travellers upon an ex parte application was rightfully rendered otiose when the suit was discontinued and struck out on the 24th day of March, 2025.

(3) The venue of the meeting was changed without any notice to persons who desired to attend the meeting was taken to the protective hall in Government House were persons were itted and excluded at will.

(4) By the extant legal status of the PDP in the South East, Hon. Chidiebere Egwu is the substantive National Vice Chairman. Our position is founded on the fact that the PDP in Ebonyi State nominated Hon. Egwu to replace Hon. Odefa as National Vice Chairman, following the lawful expulsion of Hon. Odefa.

Thereafter the status of Hon. Egwu Chidiebere Goodluck as the National Vice Chairman, South East, was affirmed in a final judgment of the court on the 10th day of April,2025 by the Federal High Court, Holden at Abakiliki, in SUIT NO: FHC/AI/CS/2/2025: EGWU CHIDIEBERE GOODLUCK V. CHIEF ALI ODEFA AND 2 ORDS wherein the court ordered that the Plaintiff, Egwu Chidiebere Goodluck, is the authentic National Vice Chairman, and restrained Chief Ali Odefa, the First Defendant, from parading himself as such National Vice Chairman. The very words of the Court went thus:

( e ) That an order of this Honourable Court is made mandating/directing/compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission for itself, its agents, organs, servants, workmen, privies etc to recognize/relate with the Plaintiff as the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic party for the South East Zone of Nigeria including giving effect to all his decisions and accord him all the privileges/benefits accruing to the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party for the South East Zone of Nigeria in view of his nomination as the substantive National Vice Chairman for the South East Zone of Nigeria.

(f) That an Order of perpetual injunction of this Honourable Court is made restraining the 1st Defendant from parading himself as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and/or as the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party for the South East Zone of Nigeria and from continuing to perform the roles or exercise the powers accorded to the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party for South East Zone of Nigeria following his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party.

8. Accordingly, any meeting of the PDP which Hon. Dr. Ali Odefa attends or preside is null and void being infected by virus of fundamental illegality. In the event that any arm of the PDP relies on whatever that emanated from the meeting of the 14th May, 2025 or any other meeting in which Chief Ali Odefa presided or attended the implication is that the PDP South East will be threading on the path of illegality for which reason the attendees to the meeting should rather be encouraged to execute their threat rather than drag down the entire fabric of PDP.

9. The threat by the attendees of the meeting in Government House was not founded on any consultation with of the PDP in the South East but the personal decisions of persons who have decided to weaken PDP in the South East before leaving it to other political parties.

10. That the only lawful way of resolving all the issues is to respect the Constitution of the PDP and all decisions of the courts on the subject matter and on this note we commend the decision of the National Vice Chairman, Hon. Egwu Chidiebere Goodluck to commence the prosecution of Hon. Ali Odefa for contempt in parading himself as the National Vice Chairman of PDP in breach of an express order of court.

11. We also regard it as a complete negation of corporate governance for staffers of a corporate body to openly declare partisanship in corporate leadership. Accordingly, we urge the leadership of the party to take disciplinary measures against the errant workers in order not to set a dangerous precedent.

In order five of the judgement, the court granted “an Order of perpetual injunction retraining the 1st Defendant (Ali Odefa) from parading himself as a member of the Peoples Democratic Partyand /or as the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party for the South East zone of Nigeria and from continuing t perform the roles or exercise the powers accorded to the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party for the South East zone of Nigeria.”

Egwu disclosed that an Enugu High Court which was earlier deceived by Chief Odefa also struck out and earlier order errornously granted Odefa in Suit No: E/132/2025 thereby invalidating Ali Odefa’s claims to the seat of the zonal chairman of the PDP.

He assured party of inclusive leadership, Hon. Egwu pledged to engage all stakeholders constructively and work closely with the national leadership, especially the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, the PDP Reformation Committee Chairman, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki; and the PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu to ensure that of the party in the zone come together to reorganize the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Court of Appeal Enugu Division, on Thursday affirmed the judgement of Justice R O Riman of the Federal High court Abakaliki, nullifying the conduct of Local Government election in Ebonyi State.

Justice Joseph Ekanem who read the lead judgement of the Appeal court, gave the ruling while dismissing the three appeals filed by Ebonyi State Government, Central bank and Local Government Chairmen, challenging the ruling of the Federal High Court.

The Appeal court ruled that the earlier judgement of Justice R O Riman then of Federal High Court Abakaliki remains valid and subsisting.

According to the Appeal court, "the judgment in FHC/AI/CS/224/2022, which the Appellants challenged on appeal, was meant to enforce compliance with the earlier judgment in FHC/AI/CS/151/2022 contrary to the argument of the appellants.

The court ruled that the appeals were dismissed for proliferation of issues for determination by the appellants which resulted in an incompetent brief of argument.

The suit with Appeal number
NO.CA/E/381/2022: Hon Nwogba Ebere Oboh & 12 others versus Otu Collins Eleri and 12 others.

On the second appeal with suit number

...vowed to fight back

The apex youth body of youth leaders and ethnic youth organisations in Nigeria , the ethnic youth leaders council of Nigeria made up of Middle belt youth forum, Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Youth movt, Arewa Consultative youth movement , Oduduwa Youths and South South Youths have summoned an emergency meeting to take firm position over the politically instigated attempt to smear the name of the former Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPCL) under the guise of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation and use of paid public protest to harass him.

They said the meeting which will hold in Kaduna and hosted by AREWA youths will be followed by an international press conference that will be aired live on all television stations in Nigeria from Enugu state where the position of the Nigerian youths will be made known.

The youth leaders said this in reaction to the plot by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the alleged abuse of office and misappropriation of funds by former senior officials of NNPCL, including Mele Kyari.

The Nigeria youth leaders vowed to resist that inglorious attempt through taking legal action to halt the plot to smear Kyari's name and sponsor protests against him and condemned the move which it described as politically motivated.

They wondered why a man who broke over 20 jinx and revived country's refineries which started working, ed the first indigenous refinery, Dangote Petrol Chemicals, ensured increased oil production would be subjected to such planned blackmail with the intent to wipe away his legacies which earned him presidential commendation as an achiever.

The apex youth body in statement by Comrade Ananukwa Edu said they are taken aback by reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) launched a probe into the alleged abuse of office and misappropriation of funds by former senior officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), including the immediate past GCEO, Mele Kyari.

"In a letter titled “Investigation Activities Request for Information”, referenced number CR:3000/EFCC/ABJ/HQ/SDC.2/NNPC/VOL.1/698 EFCC said it is investigating a case of Abuse of Office and Misappropriation of Funds in which some officials including Kyari are involved.

"The anti graft agency requested the present NNPCL boss to furnish it with certified true copies of the emoluments and allowances of the said officials including that of those who have retired and no longer work with the organisation.

"Consequently, the Nigeria youth leaders have summoned emergency meeting to take position over the politically instigated attempt to smear the name of former NNPCL GCEO, Mele Kyari under the guise of EFCC investigation and use of paid public protest to harass the former helmsman of the national oil company.

"The meeting which will hold in Kaduna and hosted by AREWA youth will be followed by an international press conference that will be aired live on all television stations in Nigeria from Enugu state where the position of the Nigerian youths will be made name.

"Our other options include but not limited to taking legal action to halt the plot to smear Kyari's name and sponsor protests against him while we will vehemently condemn the move which is politically motivated.

"We wondered why a man who broke over 20 jinx and revived Nigeria's refineries which have started working, ed the first indigenous refinery, Dangote Petrol Chemicals, ensured increased oil production to about 2 million barrels per will be subjected to such planned blackmail with the intent to erasing his legacies which earned him presidential commendation as an achiever.

"This is unacceptable!" We will do everything within the law to make sure Kyari is saved the usual antics of the Nigerian system where people who served the nation diligently are later witch hunted for political purposes and intents. As kyari declared, 'he served Nigeria with the fear of God and is willing to for his stewardship' but that should not come in the form of vendetta."

Ebonyi state government has berated the social media critics and oppositions in the state for lying and alleging that there is flooding in the Chuba Okadigbo's airport, Onueke Ezza South LGA.

The government, however, urged all the regulatory bodies in Nigeria and the general public to ignore the lies by the social media critics and oppositions, who have continued to paint the great image and reputation of the Chuba Okadigbo's airport in bad light.

Ebonyi state government through the Commissioner for Aviation and transport technology, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu who made this known shortly after bidding farewell to the governor, Francis Nwifuru, who took off his flight from the Chuba Okadigbo's airport, said that those alleging that there is flood in the airport are born liars.

Obichukwu who equally took some stakeholders of the state round the airport on assessment, warned those born liars critics to desist from purveying the airport in bad light, adding that no amount of criticism will stop the governor, Francis Nwifuru from succeeding in his istration.

According to her: "Chuba Okadigbo international airport is one of the best in the country. And it remains the best.Telling lies, criticizing, and writing jargon does not change anything. If there is any problem you have, maybe anything you need, you can go straight to the government and request for it. And not criticizing.

"It's not true. There was nothing like flooding in this airport. This is a clean project that we are already putting in use. Aircrafts have been landing and taking off in this airport, we just received two flights this morning.

"You saw one that was parked there. Another one is coming before 5 o'clock today. Like I've been saying, we have rules and regulations from the regulatory bodies of aviation.

"The airport is not an ordinary keke park, or bus park, or ordinary motorcycle park. It is something that is scientific. And it is something that is technical.

"The airport is where we want to ensure the safety of life. Let there be safety. And for you to get it right, you must do according to these laid down regulations.Right now, we are just ending with chartered flight regulation.

"We are entering into another regulation of enger lifting. And that is why if you go to some of our platforms, you see where I posted our flight operation in June.

"Those of our engers that are air friendly, the world air travelers, can board United Nigeria Airlines to Ebonyi from Abuja. They can board Abuja, or rather Ebonyi to Abuja. And then, they can board Lagos to Ebonyi, and Ebonyi to Lagos.

"Again, further information about where you board, how you are going to pay, how you are going to land and all that, will be posted very soon. So, we are good to go. We are taking it one at a time.

"We cannot run faster than our shadows. And we cannot do something that will close the airport. Any slightest mistake will close this airport from the federal regulators. That is why His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, who is a determined man, a successful man, a seasoned/ divine , is taking his time to make sure that whatever they require, whatever they ask him, he does it.

"So, we are not in a hurry. We don't want to make mistakes. The edifice is serving its purpose already. Very soon, the engers will outnumber even the people that are not aware that Ebonyi is existing, will be aware that Ebonyi Airport is on. But let us take it one at a time.

"Those who are saying that the Chuba Okadigbo's airport is not working are liars. They are born liars. Some of them have never even crossed this gate. Some have never even entered the door of flight. And some will be telling you there is nothing. How will you know that the airport is working when you have not even been here?

"And so, my governor is not moved by whatever negative criticism. He is determined to succeed. And he is succeeding. And nobody will stop him from getting to the goal. We are already there" she stated.

According to the group, the imposters led by one Comrade Kabir Matazu was reported to have stormed the office of the Attorney General of the Federation ( AGF) on Tuesday demanding comprehensive probe and investigation into the NNPCL transactions for the past five years under Kyari.

The group further said that the imposters in their speech, specifically alleged wide spread frauds and irregularities in the handling of Turn Around Maintanance (TAM) of the nations refineries under Kyari leadership.

"Ordinarily our association would have ignored this shameless group and their pay masters but for the avoidance of doubt we want to state categorically that at no time did we authorise any person or group of persons to speak on our behalf on any issue including the recent infantile attack on former managing director of NNPCL.

"The so called Matazu and his co- travellers are not known to our association and therefore cannot use our highly respected association to do the bidding of some unscrupulous and mendacious unpatriotic politicians who are on vendetta mission.

"Concern Citizens Against Corruption, was rather embarrassed by this orchestrated script which we had since discovered were designed to malign and tarnish the hard earned reputation of Kyari," the group said

The Association, which regreted the embarrassment this may have caused Kyari and his successful team, added, "for the records, we ed other millions of Nigerians who commended Kyari for his giant strides in turning around the business fortunes of the company in the five years he was in office.

According to the group, Kyari broke 25 year jinx of non-performing refineries.

The group accused the impostors of using their organization to attack Kyari and working for opposition, disclosing that they have petitioned EFCC, AGF

They therefore demanded the immediate arrest of imposters, also apologising to Mr Mele Kyari over the unwarranted attack on his person by this cheap blackmailers and their cohorts.

"Even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be shocked at the outburst of this faceless group against Kyari who while dissolving the board NNPCL led by him noted the starling achievements of the board."

The Anti-Corruption group noted that Kyari’s major achievement has been the revival of Nigeria’s decade’s long moribund refineries.

"Under his leadership, long-stalled production activities at the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries have roared back to life… with the Kaduna Refinery beckoning. This audacious manouvre has put a lie on the long-held belief that the refineries would never come back to life.

"This move would surely engender energy security and ensure that Nigeria’s refining capacity could finally begin to meet domestic demand with much more for exports sooner rather than later.

"Kyari recognizing that public refineries alone cannot meet the nation’s needs, reportedly came up with a strong collaborations with private refineries. The climax of this effort was the integration of the Dangote Refinery – a strategic partnership (This started with a direct investment in Dangote Refinery) that not only expanded Nigeria’s refining capabilities but also introduced healthy competition into a previously monopolized industry.

"Kyari’s forward-thinking approach has set the stage for a more dynamic and self-reliant energy sector. While some may wish to attribute some of NNPC’s challenges and failures to him, the discerning would rather give him his flowers for his ability to achieve results despite the tortuous and oppressive terrain. From overseeing the commercialization of NNPC to fostering partnerships that would ultimately bring renewed investor confidence, he has consistently delivered results.

"His commitment to opening up NNPC Limited for more transparency, epitomized by Nigeria’s compliance with the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), has set a new benchmark for governance in the oil and gas sector," the Anti-Corruption group said.

Organized Labour lauds Nwifuru for clearing 18 years pensions, gratuities, Makes Fresh Demands

The organized Labour in Ebonyi State, has commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for clearing entitlements of retired workers in the state from 1996 till date.

This was even as they reeled out many challenges facing workers in the State and called for the Governor's immediate intervention.

This was contained in the May Day address presented by Comrade Ogugua Egwu, Chairman of NLC in the State,on behalf of the Organized Labour at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki.

"Your Excellency Sir, some of these plights include: Transportation challenges (Provision of more CNG Buses for workers)Housing challenge (provision of more housing estates for workers).

"Increasing the pension of Retirees as is obtainable in other parts of the country. Equipping Government offices in the Centenary city Reinstatement of the bulk release of Leave allowance in line with the realities of the New National Minimum wage, 2024.

"Reinstating the full salary of staff of the Ebonyi State College of Education, Ikwo. An additional monthly release of twenty-five million naira only would solve this problem.

"Your Excellency Sir, these issues we believe can be handled with your touch of Midas. And Sir, we use this medium to thank you for directing the immediate recall to work at Ebonyi State University (EBSU), of Comrade Ikechuku Igwenyi and Co after three (3) years of suffering unjust suspension from work for union activities.

"This noble gesture of yours will remain golden in our hearts. We also thank you immensely for granting our request for the cost implication of consequential adjustment with substantial progression to be included in the 2025 Budget. We believe it is a mark of your goodwilled desire for implementation. It is a gesture we shall never forget as Organised Labour.

"Sir, all we desire as your children, as your people, is for you to keep granting us that cordiality of being in the Civic Space of our dear state by providing an avenue for constant and periodic interface and engagement to enable a firsthand feel of the pulse of Ebonyi Workers," the organized Labour said.

He opined that the Governor has given the state enviable face lift through his Peoples Charter of Needs mantra;

"A man who expressed the need for a robust engagement during periods of labour disputes, thereby allowing the Working class to have a voice in the civic space; A man who has appointed unionists and technocrats into his cabinet; A man who feels the pains and anxieties of Ebonyi Workers;

"They said he is unshakable but indeed, his soft heart yearns to touch humanity and that’s why we describe him as the most humanistic Governor of our time. He has done so much that we must question “What he is yet to do for us?” Is it the payment of gratuity to abandoned Retirees spanning the period of almost 18 years; is it the implementation of the New national minimum wage?

"Is it the provision of the toll-free buses to convey workers to work? Is the construction of housing units for public and civil servants? Is it the foreign and local Postgraduate scholarships for Ebonyians? Is it the Christmas bonuses that create the loudest bang of credit alerts for workers? Where do we stop?"

The Organized Labour assured the Governor that it would continue it be partners in the process of enthroning the rights of workers and ensuring that the Civic Space in the state and Nigeria as a whole, will be engaging and progressive for all.

Responding, the Governor expressed his istration's readiness to address the challenges facing the workers in the State, noting that the government and the leadership of workers would sit down to tackle the challenges.

Suspected thugs have attacked a team of security operatives enforcing e-ticketing operations of the Ebonyi State Internally Generated Revenue Service, severely injuring three persons and one Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).

The inhuman attack which occurred in Amudo market in Ezza South Local Government Area of the State on April 17 was led by the Youth President of Ezza South allegedly sponsored by one Simon Nwifuru, also known as Dangote who is a brother to the Governor.

It was gathered that the coordinated attack was plotted by the said brother to Governor Nwifuru who claims to be in charge of keke riders, one Douglas Ochishi who is parading as a 'contractor' to okada riders in conjunction with the state chairman of okada and keke riders and the riders from Abaomege who mobilised in their numbers and laid ambush against the officers of the State's Civil Defence Security team on enforcement and the e-ticketing team of the IRS CONSULT while on their way from Afikpo and Edda local government areas of the state going back to Abakaliki.

It was gathered that the attackers allegedly armed with cutlasses and guns barricaded the road with logs of woods rounded up the major road and overpowered the e-ticketing enforcement team alongside the enforcement team of the men of civil defence.

An eyewitness, Nweke Timothy recounted that "They (the thugs) were numbering over two hundred persons, and they immediately discharged all the arrested motorists. It was a terrible scene, and many people fled the market out of fear, and the tension was very high, "he stated.

One of the team who survived the attack, who identified himself as Samuel described the incident as dastardly, maintaining that it was a huge sabotage on the efforts of the Ebonyi State government to shore up it's revenue and stop those said to be selling illegal tickets and enriching theirselves thereby causing leakages. "They print tickets and sell them at will, short-changing the state government.

A member of the Ebonyi State Internal Revenue who pleaded anonymity was quoted as saying that the adoption of the e-ticketing operations was approved by the State's Executive Council on the 8th of October 2024 to curb revenue leakages and increase efficiency.
"We urge the state government to look into this ugly incident, arrest and prosecute all those involved in this act of sabotage no matter how highly-placed they are", the source pleaded.

Since the flag-off of the automation on the 4th of November2024, we have done enough sensitization before commencing this enforcement, and everybody was asked to co-operate with the State's Board of Internal Revenue, "he further lamented.

He continued, "Imagine that they (the thugs) also collected three phones from the e-ticketing team and left many injured who are currently receiving treatments in the hospital. We condemn this evil act and call for justice for the victims and punishment for the provocateurs".

In a related development, one Mr Henry who is also a staff of the e-Ticketing team was beaten to stupor and injured on the head, hand, and on the eyes at Tom Gadas filling station in Afikpo by those selling illegal tickets. The matter was said to have been reported at the Afikpo division, and the thug was arrested and brought to the police headquarters Abakaliki.

Eyewitnesses said it took the intervention of the member, representing Afikpo North East Constituency in the State's House of Assembly, Hon. Ukie Ezeali (popularly known as P-Noble), who promised to meet with okada and keke riders and ensured they would co-operate and comply with the State government's directive to get him released from the State Police Headquarters, Abakaliki.

The staff of the e-Ticketing project has been under serious threat from various quarters in the past few weeks for implementing the e-ticketing system of revenue collection in Ebonyi State.

According to him, "We call on the state government to do their best to protect the team in their field operations.

"We had several meetings with the okada riders and urged them to comply with the government directives so that the revenues they pay can be ed for and useful for the government. We have done so many sensitizations on radio and newspapers since last year to get the riders to know it's better to pay their revenues to the government than to the touts.

It will be recalled that Ebonyi is the only State in the South East region yet to automate their revenue form of collection and this has been a grave concern to the government, the people of Ebonyi State and to investors who often lament about how touts harass and threaten them for monies they divert to their private pockets.

As directed by the governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the transportation sector; keke (tricycle), and okada riders are currently transitioning into the e-ticketing method payment to the government.

Also condemning the ugly incident, the Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area, Mrs Euphemia Nwali, when ed, promised to investigate further on the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.

The Executive Chairman, Ebonyi State Board of Internal Revenue Service Rt. Hon. Christopher Omo-Isu, in his reaction, condemned the ugly incident, stating; "I am deeply saddened and outraged by the recent attack on the enforcement and staff of the e-Ticketing team in our state. This appalling act of violence by hoodlums not only threatens the safety of our dedicated workforce but also undermines the progress we have made in implementing essential revenue collection systems that are vital for the development of Ebonyi State"

Our e-ticketing team plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with our tax policies and facilitating a transparent and efficient revenue collection process. Their safety and well-being are of the utmost importance. We stand in solidarity with our staff in all the 13 local government headquarters and extend our heartfelt appreciation for their hard work and commitment to serving the citizens of Ebonyi.

I want to assure the public and our staff that we are treating this incident with the seriousness it deserves. We are in close collaboration with law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are brought to justice swiftly. We will not condone any form of violence or intimidation against any individual or team fulfilling their duty to our state.

Moreover, we will be convening a meeting with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to discuss measures that will enhance the safety of our staff and ensure the continuation of our important work without fear of reprisal.

We urge the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Let us work together to foster a peaceful environment where progress can thrive.

In conclusion, I reaffirm our commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that all those who threaten our peace and the integrity of our state’s operations are held able", Omo-Isu maintained.

'No amount of castigation on Chuba Okadigbo's airport will stop Gov. Nwifuru's 2nd term - Obichukwu insists

The Commissioner for Aviation and Transport technology, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu has said that no amount of criticism on the Chuba Okadigbo airport by social media critics can stop the governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru from completing his eight years tenure in the state.

Obichukwu equally insisted that the Chuba Okadigbo airport remains the best in flight operations in the South East region, adding that the airport within six months has recorded no fewer than 45 aircraft taken off and landing safely without hiccups.

"Let us give him (Nwifuru) the , not by castigating. You cannot bring him down as a governor. He's already a governor. And I want to tell you, he's coming for the second time. And after the second term, he's going to Abuja.

"So, whatever you are doing, whatever you are saying in the social media, either to castigate him or to bring him down, you're bringing yourself down. Whatever you write on social media can never bring Nwifuru down, it can never reduce him from being governor.

The aviation commissioner, Obichukwu who reacted on the closure of Akanu-Ibiam international airport Enugu, and selection of alternative airports by the regulatory bodies, said they have rights to decide or choose whichever airports they wants, adding that there is no problem or hiccups with Chuba Okadigbo's airport.

Obichukwu who made this known to newsmen in Abakaliki capital of Ebonyi State, commended the governor, Francis Nwifuru for his prudence, transparency to ensure that the Chuba Okadigbo airport becomes the most viable Airport in the SouthEast region, and however, for securing a chartered flight operation permits for the state.

"As it is now, from that October till this period, His Excellency, our dear Governor Nwifuru has been able to obtain what we call the chartered flight operation permit. And it is difficult for even the other airport that started with us to get even one. We have been able to get two from October to January, from January to March, and now from March to July.

"Any other flights that may wish to enter our airport are highly allowed. But will you follow the rules? Will you be on that charter? Recall that the airlines and aircraft operation is business-like. So they are willing to come to pick their engers here, but the issue of the regulatory bodies that must permit them to come here and pick.

"So, I want to tell our people, both within a Ebonyi state and outside, that our governor, Francis Nwifuru, has not aired or delayed anybody from the utilization of this wonderful edifice, and the security and safety is granted. We are only trying to abide by what the regulatory bodies demand us to do.

"The regulatory bodies are the ones delaying us.They will be here to tell us they are done, because over 170 booklets that need to be given to us by them are not yet ready. They are the ones holding those booklets.
"We call it the regulatory operation booklets. Not until they complete all the write-ups will they now give. Recently, they've started sending the normal bodies that are in charge of the air, both the NAMA, both the aerodrome, both the NIMET, FAM, AVSEC, and all the rest of the staff are now coming in.
"If the regulatory bodies decide that they are using whichever airportthey want to use, that is their decision. It has nothing to do with any mistake or any problem, either in Anambra, in Ebonyi, or Owere. They have every right constitutionally to decide where they can do what they want to do.Enugu State's stoppage of landing doesn't mean thatEnugu Airport has fallen. They have to do what they ought to do for security and safety.

"So why are we in a hurry to do something that will bring about problems to the entire state and the entire country?I want to plead with us, Ebonyians, both those that are visitors and those that are indigenous and those that are outside Ebonyi, all the South East, we are doing the best for the South East. Our dear governor, is standing up to do the best so that lives will be saved, so that lives will be secured.

"We cannot get up and rush things now. If you cannot travel by air, there is no place that it is written you must travel by air. You can use any other means. If you cannot use Asaba, there is Owere. They didn't ban Owere. They didn't ban Anambra.

"But for Ebonyi State, there is nothing wrong and there is no problem. And our governor is working day and night to ensure that we attain that which is stipulated for us, to ensure that we gain that which he had worked for. Nobody loves to waste money.

"I'm assuring you that this international airport will be the best across the country when the time comes.Right now, His Excellency is working to ensure that we have the airfield lights, the runway airfield lights, which is the major thing that will happen. Ebonyi will start having flights by night. Operationally, we are on for 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., as it is given to us by the regulatory bodies.

"But once we complete the runway light, international flights, local flights, chartered flights, and commercial flights can come in even at 12 midnight. We have capable hands that are working. The Ministry of Aviation has all it takes to run the airport" she stated.

Chaplain Prince O. Kalu, the Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Southeast zone, has charged youths across the country to rise up against insecurity in their communities and protect their territories.

Kalu, who gave the charge during a post-Easter carol organised by the southeast CAN in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital, insisted that invaders must be pushed out of the various communities and the youths should own up to the responsibility.

This came amidst rising insecurity across the country, referencing the recent happenings in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, where people were killed unprovoked, as well as in Benue State, Edo, Anambra, and others.

He said the time has come that youths should rise up and defend themselves, and people that own territories and invaders should be pushed out of all communities to enhance their security.

"Everyone should be able to know new persons in their community; landlords should be able to identify new tenants; and community heads should be able to identify new persons that come into their community.

"The Ezes should be able to know who comes to their community; if we do that, we'll have our community intact," he said.

Kalu urged the youths to dedicate themselves and emulate the days when security was a priority in communities and set up volunteer structures to patrol the nooks and crannies to check the activities of the so-called invaders.

Earlier, he described the Easter celebration as the cradle of the Christian faith, which has made Christianity more distinct and different from every other religion, calling it a fellowship of believers who have faith in the Resurrection and Jesus Christ.

"This is unique, because all that have promulgated religions, we couldn't find their tombs empty, but it's only Jesus Christ that said, I will lay my life down and take it back, and the empty tomb is there signifying he is both God and spirit and human. We, the Christians, are using this period to remind ourselves of the cradle of our faith.

Speaking about marginalisation of the southeast in of appointments into federal agencies and infrastructural development, Chaplain Chris called on the youths to have a reorientation and start to speak out on the decay to save the next generation.

PRESS RELEASE

..Says Imo's Federal Roads Have Significant Economic Benefits

The recent media attack by some desperate selfish politicians and oppositions in Imo State regarding the construction of federal roads by the Hope Uzodimma istration is one of the most unwholesome political criticisms I have witnessed in Imo State.

The National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, speaking to press men in Owerri the state capital on Thursday 24th April, 2025 expressed disapproval of some political profiteers in Imo who criticized the construction of long-abandoned federal roads in Imo State by the istration of His Excellency Sen. Hope Uzodimma.

Sadly, the political cliques who mismanaged state funds between 1999 and 2020 are now criticizing Governor Hope Uzodimma for his infrastructure development initiatives, including the construction of Umuahia federal, Okigwe Federal, and Orlu roads connecting Imo and Anambra States.

The istration led by Gov Hope Uzodimma requires constructive and objective criticism to enhance its performance. Criticism driven by political bias and envy from desperate politicians who misappropriated Imo State's resources since 1999 is unacceptable to Igbo youth and progressive-minded individuals.

The dualization and repair of Orlu Road, Umuahia Road, and Okigwe Road offer substantial economic advantages to Ndi-Imo and the broader Ndigbo community.

Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka has noted that the criticism of Gov Hope Uzodimma's handling of federal road repairs and construction by reconvening Imo State politicians is a politically motivated maneuver aimed at gaining power in 2027.

Undoubtedly, good federal roads in Imo State facilitate access for business people, thereby increasing the state's internally generated revenue, Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka stated

Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka observed that over the past 3 years, travellers within Southeast utilizing the e-route from Onitsha, Port Harcourt, and Owerri to Enugu have found Okigwe road to Enugu to be the most convenient road.

Governor Hope Uzodimma should broaden his scope of repairing and constructing federal roads to encom other intra-LGA roads within the state, including the road from Ntueke to Isiekenesie and further to Okwelle, the road from Ahiara Junction to Ehime Mbano Aba-Branch, the road from Orlu to Ihiala and Uli, the road from Anara junction Isiala Mbano to Ehime Mbano, Oriagu to Obowo Seven And Half Junction, the road from Umuna Orlu to Nkwerre and further to Amaraku, and the road from Akokwa to Arondizuogu and further to Okigwe.

The Igbo Youth President, Comrade Igboayaka implored His Excellency Gov Hope Uzodimma to kindly consider undertaking the construction of the badly dilapidated roads that have been a persistent source of pain to Imolites over the past 24 years.
