Danielnino00: If Musa likes herself she shouldn't bother coming. Make a case for yourself in the WNBA this season. You'll notice she's getting the coach's confidence more and it's leading to more minutes on the floor. She needs to continue to do that cause once those ok injuries come back, getting minutes is going to be significantly difficult. The only way she has a chance is to play as much as she can now and impresses. That way, she gets herself noticed in the league so by next season she offers from teams where she gets to be a starter. Kiki's case is exactly like this. You realize that Kiki wasn't supposed to be a starter. Not in a thousand years. She had Shakira Austin and Aaliyah Edwards ahead of her in the pecking order. This was supposed to be Aaliyah's breakout year, plus she went to UConn so she had a large fanbase ing her that can influence coaching decisions. However, they both were injured and she did so well in training camp the coach trusted her enough to start. She made so much case for herself it will be malpractice to not start her now. She's literally made both Aaliyah and Shakira (who were starters last year) bench players. UConn fans are even asking for Aaliyah to be traded cause they can she there's no way she's starting ahead of Kiki now. That's what Musa neads to do. Ignore Afrobasket, and make a strong case for yourself. Her success in the WNBA isn't just for her, it will make some scouts pay attention to local talents in Nigeria. I hope the NBBF has enough sense and vision to realize this. |

Redman44: I'd rather we just identify the best talents in Nigeria and find a way to get them scholarship in US colleges. We don't have the right environment to groom and nurture talent here. We just don't. Someone like Musa and Evelyn are outliers. |

solonnachi: Who says she was ignored? Was Kanu ignores too? Oshoala? Gift Monday? You are making assumptions based on false premise Point is, prior to now, Ashleigh's absence from the team has been personal as she asked to be excused for some time. Not sure what happened this occasion, but it's possible she asked to be excluded. 4 Likes |

solonnachi: Extra context. This is Ashleigh releasing a statement to debunk the Facebook posts.

solonnachi: Not sure what's up with Ashleigh but if your source is Facebook then you are far from the truth. These pages literally clone popular people, assume their identity and post as them. Then posit conspiracy theories to generate traffic. As you can see the allegation has no source. Please ignore. 1 Like |

BascoVanVeli: Definitely had a good game. Hopefully that makes a case for more game time for her. |

geonyte: You guys should stop abeg. There's no chance Kiki is playing for the US. Literally none. I can list 12 players off the top of my head that are ahead of her in the pecking order. Yes she having a great rookie season but playing for the US isn't something that will happen and she knows that. Now, they may wickedly extend an invitation to her for one obscure America Cup just to cap her, (which again I don't think is likely). But even if that happens, she's wise enough not to take it cause she's not representing them at top competitions like the world cup or Olympics. 4 Likes |

lbrichman2: Contracts aren't always straightforward. The 75M clause may only apply to clubs outside of Italy. There could be a clause requiring Seria A team to pay significantly higher. 3 Likes |

Danielnino00: Yes she didn't. But she was putting up big numbers in it would have been malpractice not to at least give her a chance. I watched Phoenix yesterday though and the team is pretty good. She's going to have to makw an impression to get significant minutes |

PDPGuy: Oh you misunderstood me. Musa can leave if she wants to. The WNBA and her team can't hold her should she decide to participate. I think their CBA contract allows that. Don't forget also it isn't just Afrobasket holding, the Euros will also be holding at about the same time. My point really is about spot security. The WNBA is very competitive, For context, just 4 of those drafts in the first round of the 2023 draft class are currently on a roster. Just 1 of those drafted in the first round of 2021 is on roster. It shows you how competitive staying on roster is. For someone like Musa who wasn't drafted, not have US college experience to leverage from, it's very difficult to even get a chance talk less stay on roster. So if hopefully she impresses at Phoenix and begins to get significant minutes, I won't advise that she leaves. I'll rather she stake a claim and build her résumé there. Before you know it, she makes enough noise for teams to start considering g her. Right now, she has no leverage, so why make it easier for you to get kicked of the roster. Also consider that of she leaves briefly for Afrobasket, they have to sign someone temporarily to take her place imagine they person they sign now impresses, it makes it easier to waive her especially considering she doesn't have a guaranteed contract. 2 Likes |

Danielnino00: She just finished with her team on . Her team was in the finals of the french cup, their last game was 2 days ago. What happened was Phoenix added her to the rosterz then suspended her contract till she arrives which is likely this week. We should start seeing her the next few days. I'm hoping she impresses immediately so she at least stays in roster. She doesn't have a guaranteed contract so they can cut her at any time. |

carbonado: Kone wasn't playing, so excusing herself for Afrobasket made sense. It's a little dicy if you're an important part of the team. 2 Likes |

MSGAMBLE9: Yes she can, even though it isn't likely. WNBA teams usually give hardship contracts during the season particularly when a player on the roster is unavailable. Also, teams with 11 player roster right now die to cap space will likely have enough money to add a 12th player in a month or so. |

Redman44: They are not waiting for USA. Never were. They very openly identify with Nigeria for a reason. Timing is largely the reason they are yet to feature for Nigeria. Not sure when, but they are definitely playing for Nigeria. For instance, they are unlikely to participate in the Afrobasket cause the WNBA will be on. Even though they can get short leave from their teams I wouldn't advice it. Also Liz Cambage's issue has nothing to do with her colour biko. She is just too much trouble to deal with. It's the reason why she isn't playing in the WNBA too. 3 Likes |

isan: Not anyone could have won. You're ignoring the fact that Nigeri had not played in the finals of the world cup twice between 2010 and 2016. So nothing was guaranteed, and making it look like just about anyone could have won is doing a disservice to that achievement. Also, that squad wouldn't even rank in the top 10 best squad for the falcons. Just took a quick look before typing this and it was not a great squad. For context, almost half of that squad wasn't in the 2014 WAFCON winning team, and the vast majority of those didn't continue with the tram after their 2016 stint. What that means is that, no one added to the team by Omagbemi was significant enough to continue long enough with the Falcons. That team is no where near one of the best. I am indifferent about giving Madugu a chance. I sincerely do not think he is what we need, I however don't be crying over this. The NFF has made the decision to stick with him and we can I my hope and at this point. |

isan: My opinion on the coaching situation of the Falcons is very well expressed so didn't see the need to engage in the discourse. This however is a joke taken too far?. On what basis is he a better coach than Omagbemi? Really interested in how you reached that conclusion. Omagbemi who has won a WAFCON? To be clear, I am not a fan of either and hope the NFF consults a better coach for the falcons. |

Rasheedat Ajibade in a documentary video with Togethxr that also featured Asisasat Oshoala said something that aptly captures the state of women's football in Nigeria. She said "They say to whom much is given much is expected, but as Nigerians, to whom nothing is given a lot is expected". Quite sad to be honest. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJFjI8ST4Pt/?igsh=dm95d2t3cWluZWc0 1 Like |

It appears we'll see the Super Falcons play soon. According to Samuel Ahmadu on X "Hope rekindled! 🤞 The Super Falcons now have a date with the Central African giants. I was anxious and frustrated waiting to see my ladies regroup — but now, the 10th-title chase is back on track, and preparations can resume in full throttle!" 1 Like |

Kog45: Even more impressive when you consider he didn't start the job from scratch but was brought in after their coach resigned. They were bottom of the league and now CAF continental tournament contenders. I'm overall very impressed with the entire Ikorodu project, cause they've given as it were a more sustainable pattern for private interests on how to run a private club in the NWFL. They didn't go on a Spending spree like Sporting Lagos cause they obviously didn't have deep pockets, but scouted for talents at the grassroot and from the NNL and it's interesting to see what they have achieved with that. My concern however is sustainability. They obviously don't pay these players enough to wade off rival or foreign interest. Pretty sure a large chunk of their roster will be poached by other NPFL teams and foreign interest at the end of the season. The task in front of them is to see how they can build a sustainable system that will work for them. 5 Likes 1 Share |

BascoVanVeli: I wasn't hanging on to anything or shifting goalpost, na you just wan argue and it's obvious nothing I say will make sense. The beauty of a public forum like this is that people can see varying points of view and reach their own conclusions about which is more logical. Peace bro. |

BascoVanVeli: Is there a point even responding to this cause it's clear to every objective mind I was giving context. All things being equal a player playing in Scotland is less likely considered than one playing in England. That's the crux of my argument. You then brought up Victor Osimhen to counter and I had to give context that though Victor is playing in a less competitive league, his body of work speaks for him. That's not difficult to grasp. Japanese players weren't born in Europe or America, so should have the same challenges you highlighted. You infered that the reason Vicky and Pina had it easy was cause they were homegrown talent and so was easy for them and I offered the Japanese alternative. My points are clear Basco. As per whether Esther Failed or succeeded in Spain, I'll leave you to your subjective interpretation as it had little bearing on the discourse. |
