Finding time to celebrate love during a national crisis isn't easy. But one New York couple still found a way.

Reilly Jennings and Amanda Wheeler tied the knot on Friday at a ceremony held on a small street in the Manhattan neighbourhood of Washington Heights. Matt Wilson, a friend and a licensed marriage officiant, leaned out of his fourth-floor window to lead the ceremony safely away from anyone who might be carrying coronavirus.

"It was the most New York moment ever and was even more special to share with the entire neighbourhood in such a scary and uncertain time," Jennings told CNN. "I love this city."

The couple was supposed to get married in October but decided to have a quick courthouse wedding instead. The decision stemmed from their concerns that the coronavirus pandemic could worsen.

The city has ground to a halt. With more than 10,000 reported cases and dozens of deaths, businesses have closed, and residents are being asked to keep their distance and stay indoors when possible.

The couple visited the New York City Marriage Bureau on Thursday and obtained a marriage license. On Friday, as they were going back to the bureau to "actually get hitched," the women received news that Mayor Bill de Blasio had shuttered the bureau indefinitely.

"After a sombre afternoon, one of our friends texted us on a group chat, letting us know he was ordained by the county clerk of New York and could do it," Jennings said.

"We texted, 'Wanna marry us outside your window in the next 24hrs?' and he said 'YES!' To that, I replied, 'How about in 90 minutes?' We both finished up work meetings, got dressed, picked up some flowers, and headed to his apartment around the corner."

Wilson, who was responsibly self-distancing, had Jennings and Wheeler stand outside of his apartment building as he officiated the wedding from four stories above.

Before asking them to pledge their love, he read an excerpt from the novel "Love in the Time of Cholera" by Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez.

"Do you promise to love, honour, cherish and keep her for as long as you both shall live?" Wilson can be heard shouting on a witness video posted on Twitter.

"I do," Jennings shouted back, as friends and neighbours cheered.

Jennings and Wheeler were ecstatic with how the ceremony turned out.

"We got to share our love with more people than we ever could have imagined," said Jennings. "And that's the best part."

It's a New York love story that will hopefully remind people that even during these uncertain times, love conquers all.

A woman’s botched boob job left her without a breast.

Instead of getting the results she wanted, Ekaterina was left with scars across her chest.

The Russian woman paid £2,140 for the augmentation, which was carried out in a clinic in Volgograd.

Sadly, the op didn’t go to plan and she was left in constant pain.

Ekaterina claims her surgeon accidentally sliced into her breast implant while inserting it.

This caused fluid to leak, causing the body to reject the silicone products.

The patient soon contracted an infection and had to have the implant removed a year later.

A woman who got her eyeballs tattooed blank is struggling with her vision.

Aleksandra Sadowska is totally blind in one eye and is battling sight problems in the other.

The model, from Poland, Wroclaw, had hoped the extreme inkings would make her look like rap artist Popek.

She copied the artist by asking for the whites of her eyes to be dyed black.

But the 25-year-old’s procedure went wrong, causing “irreparable” damage to her right eye.

The unnamed artist who did the tattooing may now face three years in prison for unintentionally disabling the woman, local media reports.

The tattooist has been accused of using body ink during the procedure, which is not considered to be eye-safe.

Aleksandra’s lawyers told local media: “There is clear evidence that the tattoo artist did not know how to perform such a delicate procedure.

“And yet he decided to perform it which led to this tragedy.”

The model added: “Unfortunately, for now, doctors do not give me much optimism for improvement.

“The damage is too deep and extensive. I'm afraid I will be completely blind.”

Even though the botched procedure has left Aleksandra with severe sight problems, she refuses to let the side-effects hold her back.

She said: “I will not lock myself in the basement and get depressed.

“I have sadness behind me, but I live on.”

The tattooist who carried out the eyeball inkings had pleaded not guilty and a court case is expected to commence soon.

This isn't the only case of eyeball tattooing that has gone wrong.

Previously, a body modification fan revealed how the procedure left her with temporary vision problems.

Amber Luke, from New South Wales, Australia, says she went blind for three weeks after getting blue ink put into her eyes.

Who doesn't like bathroom humor? Einstein the talking Texan parrot loves to visit Jeff in the office while he works at the computer. Einstein perches on an old television set and visits with him. Nature called and Einstein had to go to the bathroom. Einstein is "potty" trained to a degree and the cue word is "bombs away".

Einstein usually goes to his perch to relieve himself, but this particular time he decided to drop his bomb over the side of the TV. Einstein said, "Quack Crazy", which a silly phrase he invented. Einstein then asked Jeff, "What colors?" and Jeff answered appropriately, "green & white". This conversation couldn't get any funnier!

Einstein the Talking Texan Parrot is a silly, smart, and popular parrot who loves to talk and entertain! He knows the names of several animals and likes to make their sounds. In addition to his silly vocalizations, he likes to have conversations with his owners, talking, doing animal sound imitations and acting silly.

He also enjoys singing and dancing in some of his video compilations. With his amazing talking abilities and funny antics, Einstein the talking parrot’s videos will keep you entertained for hours! Einstein parrot is also famous for some of his silly quotes and sayings. Online, Einstein, the talking parrot is popular across many social media platforms. Einstein's favorite places to talk at home is perched on the shower wall, in the kitchen on his drawer, and on his screened-in back porch.

As stated on his website, Einstein's mission statement: "To entertain and bring joy, to foster the human-parrot bond, and to convey that parrots are deserving of immeasurable amounts of patience, nurturing, and companionship." Einstein's website, einsteinparrot.com is designed to inform you about the care of parrots and also entertain you. As previously mentioned, Einstein is popular on many social media sites such as YouTube @einsteinparrot, Instagram @einsteinparrot, Twitter @einsteinparrot, and Facebook @einsteintexanparrot. Living with a parrot is a big commitment. Parrots live a very long time.

A parrot such as Einstein can live to be 50 or 60 years old. Many larger parrots like Macaws can live to be 100 years old. They all require a lot of care, proper nutrition, training, time and patience.

Parrots need a lot of attention and lots of toys and activities to keep from being bored. Parrots are also expensive, a large cage is an investment and plenty of play perches to spend their out of cage time.

Specialized veterinarian care is also required. Most of all they require your companionship and a forever home. Many people decide after the first few years of parrot ownership that the responsibility is too great and the parrots become neglected and sometimes abandoned.

When that happens they are sent to parrot rescue facilities to be adopted by a new family or some spend their lives in sanctuaries. It is often said, "Having a parrot is much like raising a 2 or 3-year-old child for the rest of your life!"

A London woman looking for a pair of shoes in a cupboard inside her apartment found something far more startling -- a snake.

Kasia Radochonska, who lives in the Southwark area of London, said she was going through the cupboard Feb. 16 when she spotted a snake slithering from under her vacuum cleaner.

"I opened the cupboard in my flat where I keep my shoes and other bits and bobs," she said. "I looked at the vacuum cleaner and noticed something red, like a rope. Then it moved and I thought: 'Oh my god, it's a snake!'"

Radochonska alerted the RSPCA, which sent animal collection officer Joe Tambini to the scene.

"Kasia had been knocking on doors in her block to find out if anyone was missing a snake but no one claimed her. She was a bit cold so I took her to RSPCA Putney Animal Hospital where she was put in a vivarium to heat up," Tambini said.

The corn snake, nicknamed Mavis, will be moved to an RSPCA rehoming centre if no one comes forward to claim her as an escaped pet.

"People are always surprised to hear that we actually get called out to collect lots of escaped snakes who have gone wandering around the neighbourhood. They can slither out of their vivariums and into strangers' homes; we've even had some hide for months before coming out later, much to the householder's shock," Tambini said.

A pair of Bronx bandits beat a man for his cell phone, ambushing him as he walked home from the gym, cops said Sunday.

Police have released video of the early Feb. 4 mugging, which shows the 28-year-old victim walking near a bus stop at E. 163rd St. near Simpson St. in Foxhurst at 4:30 a.m.

One of the robbers walked alongside him and punched him in the face. The two struggled with something in the victim’s hand, and a second mugger ed the fracas, knocking their target to the ground.

The men managed to grab the victim’s phone and earphones before running west on Simpson St., cops said.

Cops describe both suspects as Hispanic men in their 20s, about 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds. One wore a black knit cap, a black jacket, a dark coloured shirt, light coloured pants and black sneakers; the other man had a black and grey sweater, blue jeans and yellow work boots.

A woman says her eyeballs tattoo was "worth" the "immense pain".

Amber Breena Luke has splashed out more than £20,000 on tattoos all over her body and didn't stop at her skin.

The 24-year-old tattoo fanatic from New South Wales, Australia, said: "My eyeballs caused me the most immense pain I've endured so far, but they're worth it.

"Every morning when I wake up and look at my eyeballs, it makes me happy because blue is my absolute favourite colour."

Amber said the first time she got inked was when she was just 16, and as soon as the tattoo gun "penetrated" her skin, it "felt like home".

According to The Mirror Online, she said: "At first it was because I wanted to know what the feeling was like - I craved it even though I had no idea what it felt like. "Once the needle is penetrated my skin, it felt like home.

"My ion developed when I was 20 years old, I started to get more heavily tattooed. The feeling I got from getting tattooed was like no other I had experienced - I literally felt the negative energy disperse from my body, minute by minute."

A farmer was shocked after one of his cows gave birth to a calf with two heads.

Bhaskar's alien-like arrival also had four eyes and two mouths and his farm in India has since become popular with tourists.

Bicephaly is not uncommon in animals, with a wide variety of species being born with defects like this.

Herpetologist Dr John Kleopfer told 'ABC': "Sometimes with two-headed animals, you'll get one head that's a little bit more dominant over the other one."

Photographer Rodrigo Kunstmann says childbirth is a unique moment that deserves to be captured.

The pictures he takes of a new life's first moments on this Earth generally make people feel emotional or reflective.

But a photograph he took last week went viral, not because it was especially life-affirming or beautiful, but because it hilariously captured one very grumpy newborn.

Rodrigo was on hand to capture the moment Isabela Pereira de Jesus was born via caesarean section in a hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on the afternoon of Thursday 13 February.

Typically, babies arrive screaming and wailing, and if they're not, then doctors will prompt them to so they know their lungs are working properly. Baby Isabela was having none of it though, appearing to angrily stare down the obstetrician - instantly becoming a meme in the process.

Rodrigo shared the brilliant snap on Facebook where it was liked more than 4,000 times.

Speaking to Brazilian publication Crescer, Rodrigo said: "She opened her eyes wide and didn't cry, she made a 'sulky' face, her mother gave a kiss and it was only after they cut the umbilical cord that she started to cry.

"When I posted it, I thought it would have the potential to become a meme, but it's always a matter of luck."

Daiane and Renato Pereira da Rocha had not planned on having a baby and discovered the pregnancy after five weeks. Shortly afterwards Daiane received the news she had a subchorionic hematoma, which is an accumulation of blood between the placenta and the uterus.

She was subsequently forced to take two weeks off and was advised she may have a miscarriage. Fortunately, though, she went on to have a 'peaceful pregnancy' and Daiane said Rodrigo's picture captured Isabela's determined personality.

Speaking to Brazilian news outlet G1, she said: "My baby was born courageous. It's a meme already.

"She always wrinkles her forehead when changing diapers and nursing. Isabela was supposed to be born on the 20th, but she chose her day already showing her personality."

While the photo is clearly amusing, I'm sure we can all sympathise with Isabela. Indeed, if someone tore the roof off my house and dragged me out of bed after a nine-month sleep, I reckon I'd be pulling that face too.

An Ohio woman tried to escape from jail by climbing into the ceiling, but fell well short of her desired freedom, police say.

Montgomery County Jail in Ohio released a surveillance video of her attempt. In it, you see suspect Jessica Boomershine standing on the seat attached to this kiosk for several minutes, staring at the ceiling, then steps down. She then drags a chair over, waits for a while, with no one paying attention, climbs up on top of the monitor and up out of sight.

The bid for freedom ends fast when debris falls and corrections officers come into sight. One walks past just seconds before the ceiling tiles give way and Boomershine drops back through. More Officers run over to grab her legs and she loses her grip, luckily landing partially on a trash can. The ill-fated escape leaves Bomershine dazed, CO’s amazed and ductwork and wires exposed and hanging from the ceiling.

Boomershine had been arrested a few days before this incident on suspicion of breaking into a home, kidnapping and assaulting an 85-year-old man then forcing him to withdraw money at an ATM.

Ghosts are real for those of us that have seen one...

Please, can you tell us about some of your ghost experience? Or maybe send us Links to some ghosts threads.

Thank-you!
ScottDM1: 7:45pm On Feb 21, 2020
Are there such things as ghosts? Or have you ever seen or felt the presence of a spirit? While some people swear there’s no such thing as the paranormal, others are positive they regularly see ghosts all over the place. So you would ask the question: Are ghosts real?

People all around the world are convinced that there are still all of the spirits that walk around earth trying to find the loved ones or trying to find the light to over. Or maybe, yet again watching a lot of ghost movies and TV shows.

So, let's try to solve the mystery of this video right here. A ghostly dark shadowy figure is captured on camera by a nurse. Is this real or a hoax? Two nurses were having a fun chat, while they were telling each other something funny they decided to record that conversation on video.

Meanwhile, during their conversation, something bizarre happens. A black shadow looking like a person es by the window of the room. One of the nurses starts to panic, and they both go into the room to check what is happening. When they enter the place, they see that there is no one in the room, and suddenly the cart moves all by itself. They freak out and leave the area in the same second.

What do you think creepy, spooky or it’s all staged? The camera was focused on the door as the man who was filming the video was expecting something to happen. And what about the cart, is it an old classic movie with the rope, or did it moved on its own? What do you think?

There are a lot of creepy stories that are told by people who work in hospitals. Almost most of them have seen a ghost, or have felt their presence in the hospital rooms. However, there a lot of skeptic people who believe that there is a perfect explanation for everything and that ghosts are not real.

ghost “sightings” result in part from the power of suggestion. If you think you might see a spirit, say, while entering an empty house at night, you’re more likely to perceive an experience—whether it’s a cold draft or a moving shadow—as an apparition. So, do you believe in ghosts? Tell us what you think about this video, do you think is real or do you think is fake? s know what you think!

A brain surgeon in London had a patient play her violin during a tumour removal to ensure her musical abilities weren't affected by the procedure.

King's College Hospital shared a video showing Dagmar Turner, 53, playing her violin while neurosurgeon Dr Keyoumars Ashkan and his team removed her brain tumour.

"We perform around 400 resections (tumour removals) each year, which often involves rousing patients to carry out language tests, but this was the first time I've had a patient play an instrument," Ashkan said.

Ashkan said Turner's brain was mapped prior to the surgery to see which parts of her brain were active when she played her instrument. He said the tumour was dangerously close to areas of her brain that affect the fine motor skills of her left hand.

The doctors were able to remove 90 percent of the tumour without any damage to Turner's musical abilities. She was sent home three days after the procedure and is looking forward to going back to playing with the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra.

Well, churches are regarded as a house of worship for Christians across the globe and their buildings take a similar pattern and design.

However, a church in the United States of America (US), Church of Luminants, actually looks different in its architectural design. The design that has shocked many, especially the entrance.

Many have criticised the outlook of the church and have said: “it is not a church of Christ, it is that of Satan instead.”

The reason for their claim is that a church entrance cannot look like the entrance of a woman’s private part which is forbidden by the teachings of Jesus Christ.

With that entrance, many have already committed immorality in their minds before even going in. Though, the interior is kind of nice, but what would your inside mean when your outside already portrays an immoral look.

The video that has gone viral on social media shows a wheelchair at a hospital moving by itself.
If you love horror movies, you're going to love this one. A video that has gone viral on social media shows a wheelchair at a hospital moving by itself.

The video, which seems to have been taken at night, can be seen gliding across the hospital premises, with not a single soul nearby. Yes, pun intended. The CCTV footage was taken at the hospital (reportedly in Chandigarh) shows the wheelchair placed under the stairs. Soon, it starts to move on its own. However, the reason is not clear.

The wheelchair can be seen moving across a parking space and even covers a significant distance. It crosses a pillar and rolls down a ramp as well. The fact that the wheelchair moves on its own have led to rumours that a ghost might be behind the incident and that the hospital may be haunted.

The video, allegedly from Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, has gotten over a million views on social media. However, some have claimed that it was the wind which caused the wheelchair to move. Whatever may be the reason, the video is indeed quite spooky and if this doesn't scare you, we don't know what will.

Security footage of an alleged ghost was recorded at an empty school in Armenia after the guard heard children's voices in the early hours and called police to investigate.

This chilling CCTV shows the “ ghost of a child” caught moving in and out of a door in a school after a security guard became concerned that he could hear voices.

In the clip, a ghostly white apparition is seen floating in the darkness, with the school allegedly totally deserted at 6am on Sunday, February 2, this year.

The “ghost” is seen “walking into the door” according to YouTube channel The Hidden Underbelly 2.0, which said that it looks as if it “pacing up and down”.

Sharing the footage on the channel, the said they were sure the object’s ability to move through a solid door proved it wasn’t just a bug on the security camera.

He wrote: “This footage was released by the security guard of the school in Armenia on February 2, 2020.

“On hearing voices of children in a school that that should have been empty at this time as this was on a Sunday morning the guard called the police and shortly after the police made their investigation they rolled out a known object from the school.

“Could this have been a body? Feeling that this incident would remain untold the security guard recorded and released this footage along with what he had witnessed.”

It is not known what the police removed from the school.

Fellow believers were impressed by the footage and said that it was definitely a real ghost – and not a bug as is often the case with these "paranormal" videos.

One irer wrote: “Wow man that one sent shivers down my spine. That’s truly something there!

“Freaking freaky video for sure. Crazy how these apparitions seem to always appear around doorways. Like some sort of paranormal door to another dimension?”

A second viewer said: “I thought it might be a bug until it went behind the door opening. Crazy!”

Teddy.
the name, because this young kid could well be a future star of Chelsea Football Club.

The Premier League side’s 13.9 million followers were treated to the above clip of the two-year-old absolutely nailing one of the sharpest left-foot kicks you’ll ever see.

Teddy managed to find the middle of the washing machine with a beautiful ball – much to his own delight.

“Yaaas! Good!” the adorable kid cheered after scoring the goal.

Teddy’s dad Ryan shared the video to Chelsea FC and followed it up with a second, equally impressive trick shot.

In the second video, Teddy’s target is a kid’s size basketball hoop.

He manages to manoeuvre the ball – using his sharp left boot – straight through the net.

“Get this boy signed, @ChelseaFC,” Ryan joked.

The proud father also shared the hashtags #nexteden and #getthisboysigned.

The first clip currently has more than eight thousand retweets on twitter and has impressed fans far and wide, as you’d expect.

“I think we need to get him signed up now,” one fan wrote.

“By far better than Willian. Sign him up!” another said.

This painting lizard is selling his artwork to raise money for the Australian fire fund

The latest artist taking the world by storm is a massive Argentinian lizard named Winston.

Footage shows the tegu lizard, owned by Sarah Curry of Michigan, dipping its claws and tail in paint before thrashing against the canvas in a manner that calls to mind the works of Jackson Pollock.

Sarah, a graphic designer, puts the paintings up for auction and they tend to sell for up to $75. Incredibly, the pair have raised $1,000 and it’s going towards the Australia Fire Relief fund. She said:

He was once owned by someone who was not sure about his needs so they couldn’t provide the proper care he needed to thrive. They eventually dropped him off in a box in front of a zoo at the Great Lakes Zoological Society in the month of October. He was underweight, skin was not in good shape and he needed some TLC.

She went on to add:

With Australia facing the fires and devastation, I wanted to do something to help as much as I can. So, I did some research after speaking to zookeepers and vets and I listened to them after reading on different paints. Then I just let Winston do what he does best… Make a big mess! They turned out beautiful and he seemed to enjoy how the paint felt on his feet.

This lizard is truly an inspiration to us all.

A massive firework has been launched over a US ski resort town, setting a record for the world's largest aerial firework.

The 1270-kilogram shell flew 671m above the Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival before it burst, turning the sky bright red and drawing gasps from the crowd, The Steamboat Pilot & Today reported.

Tim Borden of Steamboat Springs headed the team that developed the firework over seven years. Borden first attempted to set the world record last year, but failed when the shell exploded inside the mortar without lifting off the ground, the newspaper reported.

Guinness World Records representatives witnessed both attempts. Christina Conlon of Guinness said she verified the shell launched Saturday (Sunday NZT) was the world's largest.

A talented nine-year-old girl may just be the world's youngest professional tattoo artist, inking customers since she was a toddler.

Maya Lu from Tengen, South , had her first try at a tattoo gun when she was just two years old, practising how to ink scribbles on her father's feet.

Maya's dad Lily Lu, who identifies as non-binary, is heavily tattooed and owns their own tattoo studio, art space, and modern temple for exclusive clients called Psyland 25, where Maya spent a lot of time growing up.

Lu's extreme body modifications have earned them attention in the past, as they have tattooed eyeballs, ceramic teeth and a number of inked swastikas, which they say stand for peace and not Nazi beliefs.

Maya developed her skills over the years and was able to learn various design techniques and soon mastered the use of the tattoo gun, which she now operates fully on her own without the help of her parents.

Maya's dad said: "Me and some friends always shown her some little tricks and it was amazing to see her progression with the machine.

"She progressed like she's done on paper. Over the years you could see how she start painting motives and then she started stencilling tattooing motives.

"She, later on, started earning different technics and using bigger and different needles.

"Also, she needed some help in the first years but now at nine years old she makes tattoos entirely on her own.

"It's so crazy to see her sitting there and actually going through the full process by herself and making these big pieces in such a short time. And on top, the tattoos look very nice when they healed."

At nine years old, Maya's tattoo skills are already on par with other tattoo artists three times her age - but despite her incredible skills, Maya's dad puts no pressure on her to pursue tattoo artistry but instead wants her to have fun and enjoy what she does.

They added: "I mean, it's senseless to compare it with the average skills of a professional tattoo artist. But compared to how old she is and how fast and 'clean' she already tattoo, it is very impressive.

"And especially as she already tattooed many other tattoo artist and peoples who already have a lot of tattoo work, and I'll be very proud to have a little piece from her.

"We will see what happens when she actually one day truly starts tattooing.

"But I actually don't care what she does later on as I am also not a tattoo artist anymore. And I never felt the need to push her in my footsteps."

They added: "I always tell her to do whatever she feels like and go for her dreams, and I think tattooing aren't the worst skills for a backup to make a living in case everything else breaks away."

Impressed by their daughter's magnificent skills, Maya's dad has enlisted her help in their tattoo studio where she now has her own little desk to work on designs for fun.

Maya's dad, a well-known tattoo artist under the name Little Swastika (the Buddhist symbol of luck), said: "Maya grew up with heavily tattooed parents and is the daughter of a very known tattoo artist.

"So, tattooing was always around and she spends also some time in the tattoo studio.

"Actually, we never had a real tattoo studio. It always was and is more like a private gallery where very chosen peoples are getting tattooed.

"She always loved to hang around there till she claimed her own little corner in the middle of it where she has her workspace and table to paint and craft little things.

"So, it was just as normal as painting on paper for her and she had many adult 'friends' who all wanted a tattoo from her, and so she started making more and more work."

But her parents said Maya runs the show and only does artwork when "she feels like it", insisting how it can be quite difficult to get an appointment with her.

Her dad said: "It always depends on her mood. When she feels like tattooing than she does it.

"When she doesn't, then she doesn't. There were times she made designs and I had to find people she could do the motives on.

"My friends have asked her for a long time to get a tattoo and I even bribed her with candy and presents, but she never felt like and it took years before they finally got a piece.

"I mean she's a child and she does this for fun. So, you can't just come and get ink. It's luck and everything has to fit. But when she likes you, your chances are big."

Maya loves tattooing monkeys and using the big needle for designs, and said her favourite tattoo was the time she inked a monkey on her friend Angelo, featured in her YouTube video.

The nine-year-old said: "I love monkeys and to work with the big needle. My favourite piece so far was the monkey I made on my friend Angelo. It was the one in the short movie.

She added: "I want to say thank you to everyone who has a tattoo from me already, and I hope I find people who want to get big monkeys done with the big needle."

Checkout Inside the Scary Island of the Dolls Where Dark Tourists are 'haunted by drowned girl'

The creepy Mexico City destination features thousands of mutilated dolls given as offerings to the spirit of a drowned girl by a local recluse

Would you dare to visit the spine-tingling Island of the Dolls?

The creepy location is based in Mexico City on an old chinampa.

A chinampa is an old Aztec method of agriculture where small sections of land are used to grow crops on the shallow lake beds in the Valley of Mexico.

The artificial islands are usually surrounded by water, but are easily accessible by boat.

As you would expect from the name, this particular island is full of dolls.

They were placed there but the chinampa’s former owner Julián Santana Barrera for a very specific reason.

It began in the 1950s, when Julián decided to leave his wife and family behind, move onto the island and live as a recluse.

He claims that the island was haunted by a young girl who had drowned in a nearby canal.

According to legends, Julián decided to appease the girl’s spirit by collecting dolls that he found floating in the canals and in rubbish heaps near by.

He also swapped the produce he grew on the chinampa with locals in exchange for their dolls.

Then, he would hang them in the trees of the island as a sign of respect for the girl’s spirit.

Now, there is an alternative theory behind this story which doesn’t include the supernatural.

Some locals theorise that a girl was drowned in the canal and that Julián found the body – he was so traumatised that he lost his mind.

Others believe the entire tale to be a fiction of the man’s active imagination.

Whatever the truth, the island makes for a creepy attraction.

One of the reasons is that Julián never made any effort to clean up the dolls or repair them.

He hung them as he found them, meaning many are damaged, missing their heads or limbs and the weather had further disfigured the items.

Over time, the island became a tourist attraction and Julián would take visitors on guided tours.

He was not afraid of the dolls as he views them as his protectors, though others believe they're possessed by spirits and come to life at night.

Julián died in 2001 – and while some believe he suffered a heart attack, others insist he drowned in the area where he believed the girl had died.

Even though the location is associated with dark legends, guests continue to flock there.

This is probably because the dark tourism market is "booming", according to a study by Kathleen Alton.

Researchers say this "niche Market includes the Island of Dolls, known as ‘La Isla de las Muñecas’ to locals".

The terrifying destination was dubbed “creepy as f***” by one reviewer on TripAdvisor.

The holidaymaker, from Hong Kong, went on to add: “The trip to the dolls was equally as fun as reaching there.

“The island itself was a bit eerie and great for photos, keeping in mind it's become a tourist attraction. It's about 3-4 hours trip and leaving from Embercado Cuemenco.”

Another said that the trip was a “highlight” for them.

The Canadian reviewer said that the boat ride is a two hour trip, one way, but that the travel is beautiful and so felt shorter.

She added: “This is not a nice place for young children! This is a spooky place, with a sad history.”

Unfortunately, it seems that one couple didn’t listen to her advice though.

The British mother wrote: “Absolutely terrible and horrifying! I took my four-year-old daughter here thinking it was a land of doll houses and happiness, but it was more like a horror maze of dead peoples lost toys.

“They should it as what it is and not what they want people to think it is! Not the happy fairy tale I was hoping for.”

Other reviewers advise that you know what you are looking for and that you are wary of being scammed.

One traveller claimed that she was taken to a false island with just five dolls “rather than thousands”.

So, if the Island of the Dolls sounds up your street you should expect to pay around 2,000 pesos per boat and then an additional 40 pesos entrance fee.

That’s around £82 and £1.65 respectively.

You may be asked to pay 400 pesos to take photographs – that’s £16.

To get there you must go to the Embarcadero Cuemanco entrance in Mexico City and negotiate with the tour guides.

if you’re looking to stay close to the entrance then the Hotel Novo Coapa is nearby and costs around £55 per night.

Alternatively, the Hotel Amala costs between £30 and £60 per night, dependant on the dates you travel, and is categorised as a four-star hotel.

If you don’t mind a bit of distance, then our top hotel recommendation would be the Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico, a stunning five-star hotel around two hours away from the dock by bus.

Reddit s have been left perplexed by a video claiming to show a ghost walking past a home.

The spooky clip shows the dark scene of a homeowner’s driveway at night.

Suddenly, a hazy white object slowly moves across the scene. It momentarily moves out of focus before appearing once more before it reaches the black car.

It then seems to stay there before apparently exploding into a ball of light.

The footage has received more than 900 upvotes since u/nevertoo posted it online.

He wrote: “My mother collected this video from our driveway in the woods. Any insight from this community on what (or who) it may be.”

“Literally was going to say it was just bugs but then I saw the shadow,” one viewer wrote. “Freaky.”

Some suggested it was just the head beams of a car but this was rejected by another , who said: “That's no car. I don’t know what it is but it's weird.

“Tell your mom to keep looking! Whatever it is it's creepy and I love it!”

Another added: “Definitely a ghost.”

Popular YouTube conspiracy channel The Hidden Underbelly 2.0 also offered his thoughts on the ghostly figure.

“This looks like a beam of light but what is more interesting is when it gets to the end, there is this interference that distorts the camera and image,” he said.

“We know that these spiritual apparitions work on electromagnetic energy which also messes around with electrics, video cameras, audios so on and so forth.”

But some weren’t so convinced and instead blamed it on a “camera glitch”.

“Definitely a camera glitch, when the ‘subject’ enters the frame there is an eclipse of light/infrared around the entire lens,” one sceptic explained.

“Then the lens recalibrated and made it all screwed up. This also happens when you point a DSLR camera at the sun.

“Look up reviews of your camera model and this will probably be common.

“As much as I wish this was a compelling piece of evidence that ghosts exist, this, unfortunately, is not.”
