My hip is with A British Columbia. I hurriedly applied for hip in 2015 because there was a rumour that they (A) will not renew the MRA with ACCA and the rigors of writing all those exams to gain the same hip was not what I wanted to ever face.

Paying that annual hip every year and not using it is not funny, but I had to cos I have plans to move to Canny soon.

I don't think there is an avenue for paying partial fees except one is out of job for a prolonged time or sth sth... I don't those factors.

Yeah, I have seen people transfer from BC to Ontario. I plan to reside in Ontario, and I can still use my BC hip in Ontario until when I'm ready to transfer. Once you are A, there is no barrier to which province your hip is, one may need to transfer because of proximity to A provincial meetings/seminars or conferences.

My application is with London VO, so I'm waiting for them b4 I can decide when to move, but hopefully this year.

rainazoe:
Hey Virt. I am thinking of transferring my file from BC to Ontario because of their lackadaisical attitude. Are you thi kibg of relocating soon? Your A can't waste o. Thanks for replying me.

Good move. I am also looking at doing the same. That is some commitment you have shown. Went on A BC website and saw the names of so many Nigerians whose hip has been revoked because they did not pay annual dues or file E.

I am currently studying the tax and law module (abeg that thing plenty o). Hopefully, by the middle of this year, my ission should have been processed and concluded.

If indeed it is possible to get some exemption, no matter how little, on payment dues, then it is worth exploring. One thing I have noticed, though, is that these A guys are miles behind ACCA in customer service and general business ethics. They don't really act like they care at all. It's amazing.

LVL let us go o. I know the feeling after staying for almost 90days on NA2. Just be sending them regular mails as reminder. I'd likely stay in Ontario or Alberta. I thought you had to move hip immediately to where you at.

a million miles away from prompt service. if you want a fast response copy [email protected]. You will get a response sharperly.

I didn't "read" the Law and tax o. I ed the text, flipped through the next, next key to the questions and did Ctrl find to look up the answers. You can take the tests multiple times so have no worries.

On my first try I noted the answers ed and failed and took time to get the correct answers again. I even googled.

This is fantastic. I think i should try to do this as well. How long did it take you from the time you got back to Nigeria to when you got that successful interview.

Hi, it took about 3weeks.

Is the NE truely to be avoided? If yes why?

Hey guys,

I am back again reading up but had to skip some pages cause of time.

So, we are back in Naija after the short landing. It was alright. I did not see all of Calgary to make an overall judgement. All I saw was white everywhere. The layering up helped a lot and I was not as cold as I thought I will be. We spent minimal time outdoors though.

We were able to get the basics done: SIN registration, health card registration, opened bank s with TD. Hubby tried the knowledge test for driver's license, failed the first time (because of one point-painful) but ed the second time. For me, I was not ready to fail o. I took vcole's advice - doing all knowledge and driving test when we return in the beautiful summer time grin.

Em, I decided to take my kids for a walk one day, being bundled inside the house for days. So, we layered up 4 layers! As we stepped outside, it was windy. It was -12 that day. I decided, let's go right, up the hill with the wind on our backs. We got to the top of the road, kids were sniffing, with emergency catarrh and I said, okay, let's turn back. grin grin grin that was when I understood the wind! grin It was biting!! My 7 year old enjoyed it!! It was exciting to her. But the younger one, hmmm, I had to carry her, put her on my shoulder so the wind won't blow on her face. This walk took a total of 6 minutes. grin I felt better when I got indoors. Will I do it again, sure!
What amazed me the most was days later, when the temperature increase to 6 degrees, we celebrated the warmth. Amazing how the body adjusts!

Hmm, I do not want to cause a big debate but, the cost of living when converted to naira is not a small money. I already knew that from all the knowledge I gathered from this thread, I was just not ready to calculate it. It all boils down to, is it worth it in the end? Yes, yes and yes!

Next step for me now is to find a good elementary school.

Please can you guys advice me on which areas to avoid in Calgary. Someone has mentioned NE. Does this mean the whole NE??

Thank you!

Hi. Well, there are parts of the NE with high incidences of crime. Rent is cheaper there though.

Hello Nairaland Family! Been awhile I visited. Congrats to Bigfido, and to those who got their PPR and jobs.

I have had 3 weeks of lectures and it is not beans. Been immersed in my books, especially in my statistics course where 98% of the are new to me. While everyone in my class has a basic knowledge of the course and is progressing fast, I have to deal with my insufficient knowledge of the course. Enrolled my humble self in a virtual class , paid some cool dollars for it and I am making significant progress and will gradually get there before my first test on the course.I have obtained at least 4 degrees in Nigeria,, yet I was not taught all these. It is well with Nigerian Education.

Started driving here and it has been very helpful especially with taking the children to the Daycare and bringing them back home. We also got some discounts. Government is paying the bulk of the money while we pay the lesser fraction . Oga is preparing to leave for Naija. *sobs* . Hoping and praying my parents get their visas so they can help me out with this school runs as I have tests and assignments almost every week.

Not going to get a job now because I can't cope with job/school/home now. Until I have a . I am hardly online these days but you are all in my heart.

NB: This shouldn't stop you from coming with your child/children. You too will be fine.

In all honesty, the area is not that bad even though the NE probably has the highest rate of crime in Calgary, generally around the rundle, whitehorn and malborough area.
There are Nigerian families that have lived around these areas for years without any issues. Alot own houses there too.
It has it's advantages: very diverse, vibrant communities, low cost of rent and fast easy access to cheap goods and services.
My former family doctor, a Nigerian recently started his own clinic around rundle; the family relocated to NE too. My MIL would not see any other doctor anytime she is i Calgary, so we have to drive all the way to the NE to see the doc, the same way when we have to buy Nigerian/Asian food items or off warranty maintenance on vehicles.

Thanks @ senior Salford and Vcole. You guys are right! Came across the crime stats for Calgary(2017), shows same...just didnt want it to be a case of giving a dog a bad name and hanging it.The rent as compared to NW isn't so low for condos/apartments almost about same range. However, NE seems to have loads and loads of cheap basements shocked
