Ireland deports 35 Nigerians

The Republic of Ireland has deported no fewer than 35 Nigerians, including five children, to Nigeria in a chartered flight that departed from Dublin Airport on Wednesday night.

According to the Irish Mirror, the returnees, comprising 21 men, nine women, and five children, landed in Nigeria on Thursday.

Irish Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan, said he was “happy to say” that all of them returned to Nigeria despite an unscheduled stopover due to a medical incident on board.
While the Irish government did not give a specific reason for the deportation of the Nigerian nationals, O’Callaghan only said,

“Ireland has a rules-based immigration system. It is important that those rules are robust and enforced.”

However, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission said it was not aware of the deportation of the Nigerians by Ireland on Thursday.

The NiDCOM spokesperson, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, made this known to Punch Diaspora Tales on Thursday.

Wahala...

Ours is just read and move on to the thread. We may never know the impact of the deportations on the affected families. Some of them may have taken loans, some sold their properties, and move to Ireland, with the aim of living a better life. Now they're back to ground zero, with nothing as startups.

May God heal them.

Nigerians are treated like pieces of rubbish all over the world just as they are treated by their government back home. High cost of living and unbearable economic conditions caused by government policies made out of rascality and carelessness.

Don't sell your house to Japa...it may back fire like this one here.

I once watched some African immigrants sleeping on the street in Ireland while it was snowing...it's very bad.

I didn't know how they were surviving it with a tarpaulin tents. It was indeed terrible.

Sell ur property and establish yourself but don't ever sell it to japa. U don't know what awaits u there.

Despite the idiot here,Nigeria is still better.

Ebilokan has daily bread palliative for them instead of better jobs promised, for a living wage in dignity.

Ki wọn fi ọkàn balẹ. They should calm down for ebilokan to sort them out. grin

Glimpsetv:
A large crowd of Lagosians was filmed in a long queue struggling to collect a loaf of bread. To maintain order, several military personnel were on the ground to control the crowd. This has triggered a lot of reactions online.
