Shellsploit:Overseas, there's dignity in Labour. No age limit, no shaming, nothing. As long as you're still active, you are employable. A cleaner in the UK is a multimillionaire in Nigeria. Since she's moved to the UK, she must have had meaningful assets including buildings in Nigeria from that cleaning job if she hasn't eaten with both hands. She may also be closer home at 71 than you think. If she retires home at that age, she could age faster. Even with her cleaner job in a place like LSE,she'd get health Insurance and other benefits. Who can offer cleaners that in Nigeria, tell me. 2 Likes |

Reading through the comments really highlights why Nigeria is in such a mess today. It’s shocking how quickly people stray from the main issue—an alleged false accusation—to irrelevant matters like why a 71-year-old woman is still working as a cleaner, how she supposedly forgot a bracelet in her bag for three days, or why she has no husband or children at her age, even though the headline referred to her as a grandmother. This same tendency to abandon objectivity and focus on distractions is exactly how we end up making poor choices when selecting our leaders—prioritizing tribe and religion over competence and character. And for the record, I’m not Yoruba, just in case anyone thinks I’m speaking from a place of bias.

Nigerians and ignorance. People could still work in any age as long as the person is still fit and strong. I worked with a 74 year old man while I was in the UK. I have an 82 great grandmother from my village that is still working in a child care services with the city of Houston in the US. The woman's situation is dicey and could be misinterpreted by people depending on one's perception of her action. If the bracelet stayed with her for a week and she voluntarily returned it, it could be accepted that she forgot it in her bag when she found it. But if she returned it when she was caught via CCTV and she returned it with an explanation that she forgot, then, it would be difficult for people to believe her. I pity her. It is bad to have a dent on your career, especially abroad. Seeking for jobs abroad requires serious disclosure on one's past and any dent on your previous work could spell doom for your career. 5 Likes |

Centcanada: It’ll be hard to plead in her defence. There are simple processes involved in handling lost and found items. There are boxes tagged to put them in once found. This lady would’ve locked up her personal stuffs in the changing room locker before wearing her work uniform and getting her cleaning stuffs. How did the bracelet land in her pulse? She’s shooting herself in the foot by claiming that one could be forgetful at her age!! If she’s so forgetful that she forgot the protocol to hand in lost and found items, then she’s not fit for her job anymore. How can you put such in your pulse and forget for 3 days?? For those saying that she’s honest, maybe she is, it could be one of those moments things….but I’ve seen cases like this when people suddenly ‘ed’ because there were CAMERAS around there….she might’ve said yes because she knew the camera caught her…they might be waiting for the No answer before referring her to the camera…. I think this is similar to an ‘honest’ person returning money mistakenly paid into his/her . 4 Likes |

martineverest: You are the only one that has made sense. She should have returned it to the appropriate quarter immediately.I am sure there is place/ office or person where such misplaced items are meant to be returned to. Why put it inside her bag? This could be the reason why she was indicted. 1 Like |

Nemesis0147: So she can be killed by her extended family like the other man that get killed in Ikorodu his house burned down so couple of years ago. Don’t worry the state will look after her with rent and living expenses she must have paid enough taxes she only want her job back so she can retire with dignity with unblemished record. 1 Like |

Nemesis0147:She might be sending money to you and grand children who only think she picks money from the streets of London. At very old age, majority of them are training their siblings grand children while their siblings laze around with entitlement mentality. Heaven help her if they sponsored her trip. Besides, old age in the uk is from middle or late 70. Trump is 80 and still hopping up and down. Why won't she work? The moment she stops working, she may get sick and depressed. 2 Likes 1 Share |

AerialMapper: 7:34am On Jun 06 |
Truthfully, theft starts with taking a item that doesn't belong to you. Most times we hope the stolen item goes unnoticed and when it does, we convert it to ours. If it is noticed, you decide to either return it if you have a conscience or haven't sold it or damn all consequences and hope to deny it. Grandma who should be putting her leg up in an old people's home decided to return what she stole. She has still been tagged Nigerian even though most likely she has acquired citizenship there but now we have been dragged by grandma! 1 Like |
