Odili wanted to make Amaechi governor but his wife preferred another person other than Amaechi. I think this was as a result of seething rivalry between Odilis wife and Amaechi's wife. Amaechi's wife is said to be a former house help of Odilis wife. The usual jealousy between women made Odilis wife to prefer another person.
There was another angle of Obasanjo preferring Senator Martins Yellow. All these led to a cook up charge against Amaechi and thereby setting the EFCC against him. Odili had vowed to handover to an Ikwerre man and outside that wouldn't want to hand over to a Kalabari man. The murder of Marshall Harry was still unresolved. While all these were ongoing Amaechi had secured PDP gubernatorial ticket. However on the day of flag presentation Obasanjo came up with the historic K-Leg saga. The flag wasn't handed over to Amaechi for reasons beknown only to Obasanjo. Odili was distressed and wanted away out of this. The opportunity came when Obasanjo travelled and Ahmadu Ali the then PDP chairman got backdated form for Omehia. EFCC was still on the trail of Amaechi and he had to escape to Ghana. Omehia contested and won the governorship election.
At this point Wike and Magnus Abe came together to get supreme court interpretation of who was PDP candidate in the said election.
Omehia and his foot soldiers did everything to bribe Wike. They wanted Wike to drop the case for financial gains. Wike refused and followed the case to the end where the supreme court declared Amaechi to be the authentic PDP candidate.
If Amaechi denies this he shouldn't be trusted for anything. Amarachi Wasn't loved by River people at this time. In short anything associated with PDP was generally scorned at. The people believed PDP rugged all their elections. To be very frank many people in Rivers State will tell you that Amaechi has never won any free and fair election in Rivers State.
To be in the house assembly he ed through the court declaration against the authentic winner of the ticket. Ask anyone from Ikwerre LGA. Honestly Ameachi performed so well. He touches almost all sector. I withnessed his governance. Road, schools, hospital were constructed across all the LGA. He started monorail that Wike abadanoned because of politics. Fashola and Ameachi were the stars of 2007 to 2015 set. Wike performances is centered more on road and flyovers mostly. Same poeple now praising him are the ones who crucify him then for fighting for his political survival. They said he stole so much and all manner of attack and declare Wike is igbo but when the chips were down and didn't Obi for president, he now became thier worst enemy. I will never condemned Ameachi till now cos he remains the best rivers governor since 1999 till date.

The truth is that Odili nominated Ameachi to succeed him and he won the primaries but Obasanjo didn't give the pdp flag to Ameachi in portharcourt when he was given other south south governorship candidate thier flag then. Obasanjo later gave Omehia, Ameachi cousin but he decided to challenge the victory in the court and that angered Obasanjo who then wanted to deal with Ameachi at all cost and he ahs to run to Ghana and his close friend and brother Wike was on ground to follow up until they won. Wike shouldn't have said he made Ameachi governor rather he should have said he contributed.

Wike is a lawyer he was going to court to represent Amaechi

Wike is painting larger-than-life image of himself forgetting the transient nature of power.He should ask El-Rufai his current experience after he lived like an emperor as a governor in Kaduna State.

Did you run to Ghana or not leaving behind Wike and others to face the bullet? On coming back why did you make Wike your Chief of Staff to compensate him.
