It's going to be a green horn, someone you have never heard of and definitely a technocrat.....tinubu would never trust handing over to another politician and dogara is a dyed in the wool one.

That can work too because an outgoing President can provide all the necessary backing to assist a win for such a candidate.

I will however add that Dogara, though not unknown politically, is a technocrats also.

Arguable too that he is a "dyed in the wool" politicians because that would suggest he is given to political expediency above doing what is right/required.

He has shown he has reformer 'layers' such as when he was the most prominent Northerner to come forward to back the tax reform bills with knowledge and erudition.

All demonstrative of the fact he took it upon himself to be thoroughly aware of what the tax reform bill entails and what it seeks achieve. Something virtually all Northern leaders would not contemplatie.

Sometimes people make some of us look like we Ike Tinubu. I don't know him from anywhere. I'm not Yoruba and if anything I'm much closer to the south east in my ancestry. But I'm objective and I put Nigeria first in all things. So by attacking Tinubu unnecessarily, you make defenders out of those of us that should be neutral.

This piece above hits the nail on the head. Nigeria will be a much better country for the next ruler. I pray the person is sensible.

Look at this one talking like an illiterate. That's what most illiterates said. We were printing and borrowing money to pay subsidies and naira, so which one of the two should they have continued with? Both had to go. They would ruin Nigeria's future and create another Sri Lanka. Look at Lebanon and Argentina today. Is that what you want for Nigeria? Look, Nigeria is on track now.

Hold your governor too. He's receiving a lot of money now and should do something about food production. Everything is not about FG

You talk like a clown. Didn't you people know all these when you when complaining of high fuel prices and FX rates in 2012 and 2014? You didn't know ow then that governors should be held able right?

You can only f××l yourselves. The masses can see through your forked tongues.

That is how you people defended the incompetence of buhari for 8 years and here you are again defending another greedy oaf.

People fail to understand that the 2023 appropriation Act made provision for subsidy up to May of that year only. It just made his work easy, since there was no budgetary allocation from June upwards.

There is what is called supplementary appropriation bill which could have used if was interested
Did he not award several trillion naira road contract without going through due process because that suits him
He is just a callous, selfish and insensitive person, who have no regards for the masses except those that can rock his boat

how has the status of the stock exchange and the "good policies" improved the living standard of nigerians?

are nigerians now better off because of stock exchange and tinubus policies?

how has tinubu used his policies and stock exchange to successfully tackle corruption, nepotism, cronyism, hunger, unemployment, hardship, poverty, inflation, wasteful government spending, budget padding, insecurity, bad governance, failing public infrastructure, poor medial services and falling standard of education?
The emilokans have no answers to this, stop bothering yourself

According to @groks, The Tinubu-led istration in Nigeria implemented several measures to mitigate the economic hardship caused by the removal of the fuel subsidy in May 2023. Below is a list of key plans and actions taken to cushion the effects, including the introduction of a new minimum wage:New Minimum Wage:The istration introduced a new national minimum wage of ₦70,000, signed into law in July 2024, to improve workers' purchasing power amid rising living costs due to subsidy removal. This was a significant increase from the previous ₦30,000 minimum wage.Wage Award for Civil Servants:A provisional wage award of ₦35,000 per month was approved for federal civil servants, effective from September 2023, as a temporary measure to alleviate the impact of subsidy removal until the new minimum wage was implemented.Conditional Cash Transfer Program:The government secured an $800 million World Bank loan to fund cash transfers to 12 million poor households, providing $10 monthly for six months to stimulate economic activity in the informal sector and improve nutrition, health, and education.Infrastructure Fund for States:An Infrastructure Fund was established to enable states to invest in critical areas such as transportation and food distribution, with funds already disbursed to provide relief packages against rising costs.Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Buses Initiative:To reduce transportation costs, the istration introduced cheaper, safer CNG-powered buses, which operate at a fraction of the cost of petrol. Additionally, CNG conversion kits and training facilities were rolled out to create opportunities for transport operators and entrepreneurs.Food Security and Agricultural :A state of emergency on food security was declared, with immediate actions including the release of grains and fertilizers to households to boost agricultural production and curb food price inflation. The National Food Security Initiative also distributed food to vulnerable groups in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory since March 2024.Consumer Credit and Student Loan Schemes:The Consumer Credit Scheme and the Nigerian Student Loan Fund were launched to ease financial burdens and education, providing access to credit and educational opportunities for citizens.Tax Reductions on Perishables:Importation taxes on perishable goods were removed to lower the cost of essential items and improve affordability for Nigerians. These measures were designed to address the immediate economic challenges, such as inflation and increased transportation costs, while laying the groundwork for long-term economic stability through infrastructure and social welfare investments.

Did you ask Groks whether Nigerians felt the impact of the so-called measures put in place to mitigate the economic hardship caused by the removal of the fuel subsidy?

with or without the subsidy, Nigerians will still suffer. It's a 3rd world issue. Tell me one African country where they are not suffering or struggling. Everyone is still working to get it right but the bubble in Nigerian needed bursting however that needs to be done. Like someone said. The hypocrisy is what does not make sense because this bubble should have been gone long ago since Jonathan but then. That's politics. Now we are building industries and refineries but if we continue to play cushion, there would never be funds to do anything and that collapse and suffering would have still occurred even longer and with much less reprieve.

Were you among those who protested against the subsidy removal by the Goodluck Jonathan istration in 2012?

Tinubu has not improved a single economic or social index in 2 years , I mean not a single one , all he has done is to make life worse in Nigeria
Buhari left 30Trillion ways and means debt.
Buhari left 7 Billion USD debt.
Tinubu has cleared both.
Imagine where we could have been without these debt.

[Is stealing commonwealth of this nation through decades of rabid subsidy not a greater reckless decision?]That decision is a reckless decision which is very callous and insensitive
Those allegations about not going to school might be true after all,
He just make decisions without proper thinking or research
He thinks power is by showing you are in charge and can do anything, I am the boss kind of thinking

Can you compare the socio-economic conditions of both countries?

In your mind, the masses should suffer because the government is incompetent.

You guys sang this same song for 8 years under buhari.

Tell me one tenure the masses haven't been suffering..... "The poor will always be amongst you" even the bible says so......tell me one sector in Nigeria that has gone moribund since tinubu came in it doing worse than right now than before......it's easy to point fingers subject to your political views but the fact remains fact......the rot in the Nigerian economy cannot be changed in just 2 years,u need several painstaking years of reforms.

Politicians would always be what they are.....tinubu knows this and you wouldn't want to entrust a typical Nigerian politician with that much power......Wike borrowed right out of Tinubu's book of politics by going for fubara, that was why he was able to handle him because dude was a political neophyte with no capital even with all the power at his disposal Wike still held him by the jugular...... Tinubu would still want to peddle his influence around that seat and he knows no politician can be trusted...... look at all the govs that came after him in Lagos, they were nobodies that it would take them almost 2 to even learn the ropes to think of subterfuge,he has adequate reinforcements to check any funny ideas......look how sanwo olu is being reined in as we speak,he is already staring right inyo tha barrel of the gun.

The removal of the subsidy without any plans to cushion its effects on Nigerians was the most wicked and draconian decision ever made by a president of Nigeria

The cushion effects should be done by the states and local governments.

They are receiving huge amounts of money no President has ever disbursed to them before.

Our problem is not Tinubu or subsidy removal but States and Local governments that are not using their allocations for the betterment of the masses.

Your analogy about fuel subsidy is flawed; in Nigeria's case, the child's illness is curable, and while the oxygen (fuel subsidy) was only a temporary to keep the child alive, the parents (government), who had no money at first, were later given enough funds to treat the child. Instead, in an act of wickedness, they conspired with the doctor (corrupt institutions) to divert the money for their selfish gain, even going as far as using a portion of it to keep the child barely alive, just to keep receiving more money under the false pretense of seeking a cure.

it still remains the worst decision ever taken, he it's a good decision as yo have said, there would have been evidence that it would improve things even if it has not started, but you are saying what you are saying because you feel Tinubu can do no wrong, you don't have a conviction of your own, it's anything Tinubu says or do
Are you aware his speech writers advised and removed subsidy is gone from his speech, by his own ission but he chose to go ahead, it's because those ones where doing things with clear head ,while the president was operating with over sized ego, he was only looking at the revenue side of the equation, which wasn't smart of him

Tinubu is the most confused president ever seen on planet earth your remove subside without no cushion on it creating hunger at is biggest level a deep sky rocket of everything high, dollar to naira was low but shot up so higher just mention one benefit tinubu government has offer is it census he can not even do it yeye man spit out!!

There's quite a little hope for this country honestly. The way young people leave biting issues of today and tomorrow, to be making 10 years permutations of who shall be president is very worrisome.

Like in which other country of the world do they do this?

Stop making hasty generalisations. I am not one of those guilty of your accusations in the bolded above.

I make suggestions and define my stance, uncompromisingly, per what I think is best for Nigeria today. Shown below is what I believe in and tout daily as the holy grail solutions to our problems.

Till such is delivered, and as a pragmatic and critical-thinking adult, I will continue to focus on the reality of Nigeria as things are currently, Jncluding commenting on who I believe will be an effective future President If our current reality endure.

If you have Pragmatic intellect and wisdom then you'd see the futility of trying to unite a tribalistic, self-hating, religiously divided and sectionally disunited people to make sophisticated decisions when such is innately impossible because of their outlook.

I read this post countless times and couldn't find any sense in it.

For God sake subsidies on fuel is the only thing common man on the street enjoys.

It was the wrong step to have removed it,instead cut cost of governance by 50%.

Reduce foreign travel.
Slash salaries of political office should holders.
Tackle oil theft.
Place a tax on luxury goods.
Place a tax on salaries above 500k.

You need to re-educated yourself and remove the hatred inside of you before you can understand exactly what is happening.
Even if BAT turns Nigeria into heaven, you still won’t see any good thing about him.
ivandragon:

Why is it now that you, bat and the rest have suddenly realised that N215:$1 is too low and fuel at N145 is too cheap?

When you were all protesting, didn't you all know that paying subsidies and borrowing to the naira was bad?

You cannot preach righteousness without first owning up to your deceit. If circumstances have changed, then bat should come out and say so, and not act as if he is some sort of evil demi-god. The arrogance is nauseating.

Yes, they are all thieves, agreed. But at least the pdp had been consistent about subsidy removal and not lying like bat.
