On a scorching Wednesday in the wild savanna, Chief Pumbaa Mbah, the Governor of the Enugu Plains, strutted into the Animal Government Grove with a posse of critters who looked more confused than a zebra in a leopards den. Pumbaa, a warthog with a swagger bigger than his tusks, called this chaotic crew the Southeast Zonal Executive Committee of the Prancing Deer Party, or PDP for short. They held a so-called interactive session that was more like a circus than a meeting, and oh boy, did they stir up some resolutions!

First off, this sneaky gathering decided to nominate Mr. SKE Udeh-Okoye, a sly fox, as the National Secretary of the PDP, a position that was not even up for grabs at the National Watering Hole HQ. They claimed their authority came from a shady meeting of the PDP Governors Pack in the Ibadan Oasis, where the big-shot lions had roared about swapping out the National Secretary without following the sacred Animal Constitution. To top it off, they twisted a recent Supreme Court of the Savanna ruling like a giraffe trying to tie a knot with its neck. As their grand finale, they growled a threat: “Either the PDP falls in line, or we’ll stampede right out of the herd!”

The Animal Constitution, etched on the Great Baobab Tree, states clearly that only the National Vice Chairman of a zone, who also chairs the Zonal Executive Committee, can call such a meeting. But Pumbaa, who’s about as qualified to lead a meeting as a sloth is to run a marathon, took charge instead. And guess who he picked to chair the session? Chief Ali Odefa, a once-proud cheetah who got kicked out of the PDP a few months back for trying to steal the lions share of the watering hole.

Odefa's expulsion was stamped by the Federal High Court of the Abakaliki Plains earlier this year, which roared that Odefa, having lost his PDP hip, couldn’t parade around as National Vice Chairman anymore. This ruling echoed an earlier decision by the Savanna Court of Appeal in the case of Adams Oshiomole, a bear who got suspended and was told to stop acting like the Big Boss of the All Pouncing Cats party. Yet, there was Odefa, strutting like he owned the eastern side of the savanna, chairing Pumbaa’s meeting!

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court ruling Pumbaa’s crew tried to twist had declared that all animal parties must follow their own constitutions. It tossed out the rulings of the Enugu Plains High Court and the Court of Appeal, which had sided with Pumbaa’s gang in claiming that Samuel Anyanwu, better known across the savanna as Sam Daddy, the wise old owl with a hoot that could charm a snake, lost his National Secretary spot the moment he ran for Governor of the Imo Burrows a couple of years ago. Those lower courts had chirped about moral grounds, ignoring the PDP Constitution and the PDP Sacred Electoral Guidelines that said otherwise. The Governors Pack in the Asaba Delta Territory had even backed Pumbaa’s argument earlier this year, but the Supreme Court swooped in, declared Sam Daddy’s appeals valid, and nullified the whole mess.

Sam Daddy, perched high on his favorite acacia branch, fluffed his feathers in triumph when he heard the ruling. “Hoo hoo! They can’t mess with Sam Daddy!” he hooted, his nickname echoing through the savanna. Every critter knew Sam Daddy wasn’t just any owl—he was the coolest fatherly figure in the PDP, always looking out for the little guys like the meerkats and mongooses. His nickname had been earned after years of mentoring young animals, teaching them how to navigate the wild politics of the savanna with wisdom and a wink.

But the savanna’s true beacon of order was Ambassador Umar Damagum, a majestic elephant who serves as the Acting National Chairman of the PDP. Known as the Trunk of Truth, Damagum is a stickler for the law, his trunk always pointed firmly at the Constitution etched on the Baobab Tree. He’d faced his own battle not long ago, back in the dry season of last year, when a pack of scheming hyenas tried to unseat him from his leadership role.

They’d howled that Damagum was not from the central north of the Savanna, and needed to be replaced with someone who’d let them run wild. But Damagum, with his sharp tusks and sharper mind, outsmarted them all. He trumpeted the Constitution’s rules loud and clear, proving that their challenge was as unlawful as a lion trying to the antelope club. The Savanna High Court backed him up, and the hyenas slunk away with their tails between their legs, muttering about their next scheme.

“The Constitution is our guide, and I’ll not let any warthog trample it!” Damagum had long been respected for his unwavering commitment to fairness, ensuring every animal, from the tiniest shrew to the tallest giraffe, followed the rules.

Instead of bowing to the Court’s wisdom, Pumbaa and his posse decided to replay their old tricks, which the Supreme Court had already squashed. They tried to renominate Udeh-Okoye for the same non-vacant National Secretary spot, basically ignoring the Court’s ruling like a monkey ignoring a Do Not Climb sign on a tree. “We’ll take Sam Daddy’s perch if it’s the last thing we do!” Pumbaa snorted, his tusks glinting with mischief.

Knowing their plan was as shaky as a flamingo on one leg, they resorted to threats: “Let us have our way, or we’re outta here!” But would the savanna even notice if they left? Would the skies fall if a few warthogs and foxes stormed off? Sam Daddy, sipping nectar from a flower, just chuckled.

The PDP Constitution is crystal clear, like a watering hole on a calm day, about how the party should be run. Every animal and group has their role, and nobody gets to overstep. Only the National Convention, a massive gathering of all creatures, can appoint or remove a National Officer. Zonal, territory, local, and burrow meetings handle their own leaders. So, a zonal group trying to appoint a National Officer? That’s like a meerkat trying to tell an elephant how to trumpet! The Constitution even has a backup plan: if a National Officer spot opens up, only the National Executive Committee can call for a nomination. Not the National Working Committee, and definitely not a Zonal Executive Committee.

It’s a real shame some animals, like Pumbaa, think being a Governor gives them the right to trample over the Constitution like a rhino in a flower patch. They’ve got this wild idea that their growl is louder than the law of the land!

So, here’s the deal for Pumbaa Mbah and his mischievous crew: it’s time to tuck their egos under their tails and follow the rules. If they keep up their antics, the National Executive Committee meeting later this month will swat their demands away like a lion swatting a fly.

And if they decide to leave the PDP as they’ve threatened? Well, the savanna will wave them off with a cheerful “Good riddance!” while Sam Daddy keeps hooting his wisdom from the treetops, and Damagum stands tall, ensuring the Constitution remains the law of the land, proving once again why he’s the Trunk of Truth.

Perhaps, you may leave your agenda against Wike, a man whose name wasn't featured on the article, and focus on issues. Maybe we can have a more productive engagement!

Labour Party Leadership Tussle: Is Nigeria drifting to one Party state?.

Lagos LG Election: Three LP Factions Invite LASIEC To Monitor Primaries.

The chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (retd.), has said that there are three factions of the Labour Party in Lagos.

She made this known during a stakeholders forum in Ikeja on Thursday.

She said three factions of the party invited LASIEC to observe their primaries in respect to the July 12 local government elections in the state.

“Three factions of the Labour Party in Lagos invited us to observe their primaries,” the chairman said.

According to her, LASIEC officials did not honour the invitation due to the perceived division in the party.

Ighile said the state electoral body would be waiting for the advice of the Independent National Electoral Commission on the next step in the development of the LP.

One thing common about these group of people is that they all a particular failed candidate and are always angry with anyone that have different direction. Unfortunately, nobody gain allies through social media thuggery, blackmail and insults.

Their tears give inspiration angry
