Yes...the deye inverter can work with DIY batteries without comms . That how my setup is currently.

Nice review, now I am torn between going for the TBB 5kw which is a transformer based inverter and also has a low idle consumption and this Deye. Which would you suggest? Also what is the minimum solar voltage this Deye can work with and can it work with diy battery without comms ?

battery charge settings depends on the manufacturer but for most tubular batteries, bulk charge voltage should be set between 29.2v and 29.4v while float should be set to 27.2v. If you are maintaining 50% dod, you should set your low voltage setpoint to between 23.9v to 24.0v

What's your load like?

Nteogwuija:

12.3v, and your inverter isn't screaming low battery?

I don't know what's wrong with mine. My battery tends to discharge at a faster rate when it's at 12.7v and below. I'm using Cworth's 200ah battery.

I'm using Cworth's recommended charge settings of 13.8v for boost, and 13.6v for float.

Maybe there's something I'm not doing right. I don't know.

If you can afford to spend the total here, here is a better option
There is a brand "Haisic" that sells
25.6v 8kwh for 800k (as contained in their spec sheet, it's a Grade B battery)
24v 4kva transformerless inverter 340-350k
590w Jinko x4 is better
6mm cable, breakers, SPD and the box will cost you less than 160k if you are staying in a bungalow and will be installing the system close to your DB

Haha, even if they're grade B cells, 800k for 8kwh is absurd. I love it. At 75A continuous discharge, that's still almost 2000w available.

Great deal for most people as long as the cells are properly matched and balanced.

Abysmal list. Do what the guy above said instead.

You can buy a 3kva+ 24v hybrid from brands like Cworth, Powmr, Welion for under 400k all day.

Buy 4 550w Jinko s for 500k.

Installation and accessories - 300k

That's 1.2m

Then buy the biggest 24v Lifepo4 battery your budget will allow. wink

What you're "thinking" will save you from future headaches and painful tears. His quotation for 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 shows he's living in the distant past and intends to keep you there with him.

As you've been advised already, go for a nice hybrid inverter of 3/3.5kwh with in-built MPPT charge controller which should cost you anywhere from 350-400k depending on brand. You don't need any extra charge controller after this.
Your Solar s should be from Jinko. 590W, 615W, 625W are available which you can get directly yourself or from trustworthy sources. Battery must be LFP if you value your money and should match the inverter's voltage regardless of size (the more the kwh, the better for you). You didn't indicate your loads so you've probably gotten that covered already if you've been researching.
Feel free to reach out if you've got further questions. Enjoy your installation!

The question is why would you want to do that on your LFP. In fact your BMS would not even allow it to get to those voltage range before shutting down due to OVER voltage protection .Max charge voltage for LFP is 3.65v per cell which is why most 12v LFP chargers are rated 14.6v, even though it is not recommended to charge up to the max voltage allowable.

Thanks for your response Boss,

I understand it’s almost impossible to charge your battery up to that Voltage.
I am only referring to the charging voltage by the controller. My controller is set to 18V for the charging voltage, and when my battery hits 14.6V, it’s full, I change the settings to let it float at 13.5V.

But the question is, the charging voltage being set at 17V or 18V (which charges the battery faster), is it ok or am I damaging the battery without knowing it?
