I have been looking at the price of the VW at 2012 to 2014 prices on some Nigerian marketplace and I have discovered that it's way cheaper compared to previous edition. I want to know if it has a common problem or it is just no too popular.

1. No second hand valve 2. Low demand 3. Electrical issues 4. Poor perception of the VW brand among Nigerians who literally worship Toyota, Honda & Benz (for good reasons). 5. Questionable reliability index. PS: Don't take my word for it. I'm not an expert. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Nigeria mechanics don’t know anything about the car. Abd the car doesn’t take abuse or managing stuff like Nigerians do with Japanese cars.

Nothing really bad with it,just that to maintain the name and standard,it needs maintenance and any mistake will lead to the death of the car amd its electrical. If u want to buy volkswagen, buy the tinguan series.

I have a lower model of that car but I tell you some of the reasons, no or poor knowledgeable mechanics, complex electrical trouble shooting issues, low second hand value and cost of parts. Other reasons like not available mechanic and parts outside Lagos. Most of the time I have to drive to Lagos to fix issues on mechanical or electrical problems 3 Likes 1 Share |

Good day car gurus. What do you guys think about mazda 3 2012. I intend to get a Nigeria used one but thr owner said it the oil seal is bad hence leaking leaking oil. Also, the brake is faulty. Is this something that's easy to fix? Is the car reliable? |

BoyCoyToy:Alot of people have made solid points above. If you stay in Lagos and get hold of a proper Volkswagen mechanic, you are good to go with the vehicle. I do professional computerised Pre-purchase inspection incase you need my service. Chat me up on 08167469103. |

Abee79: I hate to hear or read something like the bolded. Nigerians this, Nigerians that... It is not Nigerian thing. VW is going out of the market. They are about to shut down 3 of their manufacturing plants in their country due to low patronage. Read more about it online. 3 Likes 1 Share |

fineboynl:Even the manufacturers couldn't solve the problems they created, not Nigerian thing pls. In , they are about to shut down 3 of their manufacturing plants and lay off their staff due to low patronage. Is that Nigerians fault too? 3 Likes 1 Share |

Useless car with unsolvable electrical problems. Only their old models are good.

xperiencelove:You agree with my point, just that the jurisdiction (Nigeria) is narrow right? 😁 1 Like |

xperiencelove:resell value is mainly from 3rd world countries. America for example Nigeria is the major importers of their vehicles. Any cars Nigerians are not importing meaning the cars will suffer second value there too. Most white upgrade their car every 4-7 years and they still need to cover the expenses for upgrade from their old cars but when the cars don’t have that value they run at a lost. |

I have been using this exact model since 2021, no major issues, just normal maintenance, people who are commenting on it haven't even used it. It's not a complex car like Jaguars or RangeRovers, it's a very nice sedan, the parts are abundant at iyana itire, the car is very , it stands out, and my 2012 series gets more attention that even a 2018 corolla or carry, side by side, it's way better than Toyota, I was using an 08 camry before getting this and yet the Camry is more expensive than it. Also note, it won an award for the most fuel efficient car in 2012. I've done almost 40k kilometers on it and it's still going solid

ManAdii: Yes it's reliable. I used the 2010 Sport Hatchback Edition, and was wowed by its impressive fuel efficiency. Ensure to do thorough checks on key components, catalysts etc., and of course go with a reliable Mech to check the leaking oils to ascertain the condition. |

This is the car season. Our fuel that has been destroying the car since 2005 has now been phased out. That fuel made them shut down in Nigeria. Dangote to the rescue

Not unless they reduce the tariff and levy down to around 15-20% combined the current 100% will not let the country advance. Those who benefit complain of us using foreign reserve to import cars, but everything is down due to the overreaching tendencies of customs. Customs should only inspect not dictate or collect duties, if anything is not inspected in 48 hours should be released, that takes away bureaucracy 1 Like |

I currently drive a Honda Accord 2003. I'm looking for a place I can get car loan and swap to this VW at 2012 and pay back with enough time (1-2 years payment plan). Any idea anyone?
