A welcome development.
Reduce the demands for dollar. Who else has also noticed in recent times that capital flight has reduced and no medical/foreign trips for sometime now
It sounds good on the surface but inherently stupid.
It just bounds us more to import from China and nothing more.

What our government should be thinking about is internal production of goods and services and not importation of goods and services

You see all those sit at home people. They are very useless that they don't want anything to succeed in Nigeria and that's why their region is so backward

As long as anyone hate their country such person will never succeed in life until you are able to leave such country

Exactly God bless U ,you get the point, if China collects Naira who will buy it from China
funniest part, the deal will still be converted in dollar before narrowing to the trade. Whichever way, China wins. The only win for Nigeria is the reduced pressure on dollar search for us, which I think the Dangote refinery of well utilised will solve the problem.
sonofsteven: 2:11pm On Dec 28, 2024
And can you buy yuan in any nigerian bank?

Rest , your IQ is too low to understand this ...again I ask you why would China want to directly exchange Naira for RMD? Buhari tried this and knew it was beautiful nonsense, the naira is too unstable and unpopular for anyone to want to Bleep with but again your IQ is too low to ever get this

She is right oga

This deal is basically for international -bilateral trade btw two countries

Most businesses in Nigeria import from China over the years...so it's high time we stopped changing our naira to dollar before getting yuan to transact business in china ..

Now, with this development... businesses can get yuan directly in exchange of their naira for business in china.....when you get to Nigeria with yuan...you can easily change to naira without stress even if the naira is unstable...

It will reduce the extra swap cost attached with naira-dollar-yuan...

You are not wiser than the two countries who have already signed a deal.

Nothing can ever make sense to you and your lots. Since Naira no value or demand beyond Nigeria border, advise China to swap with Biafra Shilling or Pounds.

30% of Nigeria's imports are from china. Most of these payments are settled in dollars. Imagine if almost of of these by the dollar and the naira to dollar strain that will be reduced. That way will let the dollar rate fall.

In addition, Nigeria will be the clearing house for Africa - China meaning that the position the dollar currently holds is the same position the naira will now hold as an intermediary currency. This will raise the value of the naira.

With other African countries having lesser demand on the dollar, it will fall drastically.

Politically, BRICKS will cash in on this leading to further dollar fall. I could almost say Nigeria might lead to the downfall of the united states.

The yuan swap deal was initiated some years ago but Nigeria later halted its part probably due to pressure from the US.

In short, delaying it meant the citizens of Nigeria had to bear the weight that kept the US economy.

Now, that will change or it might also be another gra gra just to get a Nigeria - US pressure on something we've been asking united states for and later cut it again.

However, knowing our president likes to make money flow in, this one might come to fruition.

The Chinese won't be paid in naira but rather their own yuan while Nigerians here will be paid in naira for international transactions.

In international trade, there sis something called Letter of Credit (LC) which is sent by a buyer's back to the seller's bank assuring that the money for the good purchased is available and will be settled when due.

That way, the Chinese pay the fee in yuan while the Nigerian gets pain in naira. Take note, the Chinese buy a lot of raw materials from us.

Our importers too will pay in naira and the Chinese bank pays the seller over there in yuan.

At the time if interbank settlement, the country that owes will balance out the other.

The dollar will have no show unlike being the current status quo.

China business in Nigeria does not reach for currency swap.

Buhari started this nonsense. Nigerian didn't feel it. They repeatedly asked how far with the swap,no answer till he left office.
Tinubu has continued from where he stopped.
This might be the last we hear of this again
