I read an appeal court ruling banning VIO on the road from checking both private and commercial vehicles but these lots are still littered on the road! The ruling restricted them to their offices!

Why are they still littered on the road in Nigeria!

Evidence of court ruling:

I politely told one today that it was illegal for him to be on the road and not in their office inspecting vehicles and his defending question was "are you a lawyer?"

Am I only supposed to be a lawyer to know the law? Or didn't the law say ignorantia juris non excusat to law breakers?

Law enforcement agents keep committing misconducts by breaking the law in Nigeria all in the verge to steal bribes.

VIO knows most Nigerians are ignorant of the law and so they continue to exploit Nigerians.

You should just show them the ruling and sue them if they persist.

Annoyingly, this lawyer did not appear to sue for costs!

The stupid and uneducated Head of VIO in Abuja FCT had the boldness to say that the court cases did not concern or include the FCT, hence his men can still be on the road. A big thief whose entire household cannot know peace. He was claiming that VIOs are state establishments and what applies to one state does not apply to another. Yes granted that Traffic on State Trunk Roads are not in the exclusive list of the Constitution, Only Traffic on Federal Trunk Roads.

However, On 1st January 1949, the Road Traffic Act was promulgated which is available to the Road Traffic Act chapter 548 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (1990). It is this Act (1949) that gave birth to VIO. The establishment of the Directorate of Motor Vehicle istration (formally know as VIO) in the Federal States of the Country and FCT was a product of the 1980 International Treaty on the Harmonization of Highways legislations in the ECOWAS Sub-region signed by the Authority of Heads of State and Government, that approved the setting up of appropriate machinery in member state to be responsible among other thing for: Registration of Vehicle, Issuance of Drivers License, Organizing of Technical Inspection of Vehicle and compilation of statistics, movement of goods and engers by roads.

I smiled and thought to myself that ''THERE IS NOTHING A CHRONIC AND USELESS THEIF WILL NOT SAY TO HIS STEALING''. Now, that is true that States can set up the system, but what does the court ruling say? Also, can he claim that his justification for being on the road is unrelated to the extortion m, stealing, shameless daylight robbery and daylight abduction of motorists himself and useless men perpetrate?

If they were performing these roles out of sheer honesty and love for road safety and so on, one would be able to understand. Even when your documents are intact and complete, these guys still try to frustrate you by cooking up lies about your papers, especially License and Proof of Insurance.

I still wonder why these guys have jobs with the Stephen Orasanye Report. Shouldn't vehicle inspection and road worthyness be a part of the Road Safety Program in Nigeria? Should we keep opening agencies to monitor everything and perform tasks that other agencies can simply do? Need we also create an agency for Street Lights; Road Lane Markings; etc.

It was the same idiocy with Lagos State a few years ago where laws were made because some politicians invested heavily in vehicle inspection equipment. They started doing fake sham of a vehicle inspection. While the inspections were fair, the fact is they waylaid motorists in Bandits Style and practically abduct you. Just because some politicians influence state rules, regulations and agencies to create laws to their personal private gain. What a Shame!

These (VIO Top Officers and rank and file) are the thieves that should be hung and shot. Yes I speak with such vehemence because his gang of uneducated touts and fools on the road who couldn’t achieve much with their lives and decided to finally become VIO (or the Police Officers as final bus stop of poverty and uselessness) will criminally intercept innocent motorist with fictitious claims. Then maneuver them to an illegal land with a Fake MOTOR INSURANCE LADY who is rude, and will process manual insurance papers with a fictitious insurance company. They will lie and set a trap that you are supposed to pay at the bank but the bank has no network or that the system is down or that at the bank it will take you 5 days. Then you have no choice than to patronize the rude barely educated slut of theirs that they have kept to steal money from Nigerians.

Our collective prayer is that:

“GOD WILL KILL ALL OF YOU”.

You should have responded by saying you are even better as you are a citizen and covered by your Constitutional right which is the Supreme Law of the land. undecided

2. Please, if you happen to capture his face or even his name — any personal information about him including his home address, his parent's home, etc. would not be a bad idea — and post it online so Nigerians can get him and others like him humiliated for disregarding the law you quoted. Social media can be a platform where these people can be humiliated and made to feel a portion of what they dole out to the Nigerian people regularly. undecided

These cruel monsters who contribute to making Nigerians miserable are not ghosts and they live among the people. I think it is time they are exposed and even humiliated by the people they stalk. Hopefully caused to lose that job that makes them think of themselves as gods over the people they are meant to serve. undecided

That should be the right cause of action but when the offenders are themselves police officers, more is needed. Bringing them on social media — where people can anonymously drag them for their wickedness. Social media can help move things in the right direction when they are reported. This I have noticed works better. undecided

I have concluded not to stop for them any longer.

I stand with the ruling.

If you don't respect the law, I don't respect you as a law enforcer.
