Of recent, I've been reading about pupils sent back home over unpaid school fees after being flogged and it makes me wonder...
Why flogging the pupil and not the parents?
Is it the pupil that's paying the fees themselves?
Why punishing one for another's failure and irresponsibility?
Is it the normal thing to do?

The right thing to do is to send them home not by flogging.

It is only in low level schools that they flog ur child before sending him home for non payment of school fee.....

In standard schools, nobody touches ur children if u have not paid their fees. The only thing is they remove them from class...they could be taken to a separate class where a teacher is assigned to supervise them without teaching. So when they get home, they would inform their parents that they were removed from class... This will make the parent hasten up with the payment of the fees.

Some Pako schools do that but that's totally wrong.
If a child is owing and the parents have been given ample time to pay and the fail to
1. Send a message that they keep their child at home
2. If they stubbornly bring the child, the teacher on duty at the gate should politely ask them to take the child home
3. If the child boards school bus, the bus should boycott picking him/her.

May God provide for all parents out there. It isn't easy at all

To remind the child that the sin of his/her parents can also affect him/her

The same way lifestyles, behavior of parents, affect their innocent children.

Your parents default in payment, helpless you that can't make money, take the punishment

They started this nonsense way back in government schools where frustrated teachers mete out their anger on innocent children using non-payment of fees and other absurdities as excuse to whoop a child

These same children have grown and now extend that mentality onwards. It is only a rich school that wouldn’t do it

Though wrong!

The logic is that if the child is not treated that way, he/she will not put pressure on the parents to get them to pay up the school fee.

What kind of pressure do you want to impose on a kid to influence his/her parents to pay up?
Its not his fault they can't pay up
