That your preferred candidate how is he better than him.
All Yorubas ought to be so ashamed of Tinubu's nepotism and glaring failure after all the noise and hype.

If Obi ever emerge President and fail like Tinubu, I will be the first person to lead a revolt against him, I will tell everyone that cares to listen that he failed my expectations, I won't sugarcoat it or pretend that he is working just because he is an Igbo man like me, this is the honorable thing I expect from you Yorubas, not defending Tinubu a known failure that his failure, corruption and nepotism is staring everyone in the face, na wa oh

The claim that Igbos attacked Ile Ife until Moremi defeated them is historically inaccurate. The story of Moremi Ajasoro, a legendary Yoruba heroine, recounts her role in defending Ile Ife against the "Ugbo" people, not the Igbo.

The Ugbo, a distinct group, are primarily located in present-day Ondo State, Nigeria, particularly in the Ilaje and Ese-Odo areas. Historical s and oral traditions from the Yoruba, including those preserved at the Ooni’s Palace, identify the Ugbo as the adversaries in this context, not the Igbo.

There is no credible historical evidence linking the Igbo to attacks on Ile Ife or to Moremi’s story. The Igbo and Yoruba are two distinct ethnic groups with no shared cultural, linguistic, or historical roots beyond their coexistence within the modern Nigerian state.

The attempt to link Yoruba and ibo histories, such as through the Moremi narrative, often serves to create a false sense of shared identity

The Yoruba and Igbo share no common roots, and their histories were largely separate until Nigeria’s formation. The Moremi story pertains to the Ugbo of Ondo State, not the Igbo. Attempts to tie these groups together often reflect modern political agendas rather than historical reality.

Rest with this your propaganda.
Do you know Yoruba history more than Ooni of Ife?

Honestly Tinubu's politics of tribalism and hatred is destroying you modern Yorubas.

Please refrain from connecting Yoruba and Igbo histories.. The historical record, including the Moremi story, points to the Ugbo people of Ondo State, not the Igbo, as the group involved. There’s no basis for claiming shared origins or significant historical ties between the Yoruba and Ibo, as both groups have distinct cultural, linguistic, and historical identities.

Nigeria’s colonial formation brought us together, not shared roots. Let’s respect each group’s history and avoid misrepresentation.

Thank you.
Tinubu's brand of politics is really doing Yorubas a lot of harm.

Ooni started this history we are talking about, Igbos only responded to it.

The day I sat and listened to Ooni of Ife tell the stories, I didn't want to believe it, but knowing the history of Ooni kingship, I had to swallow the story as it was told since then and I have repeated it to anyone that cared to listen.

This now brings out the fact that the Ooni intentionally lied to us to bobo us abi? It is well oh, meaning Yorubas are truly cunning in nature in more ways than we can imagine, thanks for throwing more light on this story I swallowed as told for years now lol

What caused the crash?

Rip to the dead.
Definitely an engine failure during takeoff, so the engine couldn't sustain the power needed to lift the plane to stable height, and the plane's weight dragged it downward to crash on a nearby building less than one minute after takeoff.

It is Ugbo not Igbo:

The Olugbo of Ugbo in Ondo State, Oba Frederick Obateru Akinruntan, has said Ile Ife in Osun State, regarded as the cradle of the Yoruba people, belongs to his fathers who had settled there long before Oduduwa and his entourage came to settle in the ancient town.

Oba Akinruntan, who spoke on Saturday during the finale of activities to mark his 11th year on the throne, said Obamakin Osangangan, his progenitor, was the first ruler of Ile Ife.

He said empirical and historical facts abound to his claims, adding that anybody with contrary opinions or facts should openly come out to challenge him.

On his people’s view of Moremi, regarded as an heroine in Ile Ife, Oba Akinruntan stated that she betrayed his people.

“She exposed the secret of our war tactics to Ife people. To us she is a betrayer, however, whatever points directly at somebody may have its back against another,” he noted.

On the development strides in his kingdom since he came to the throne, the Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Traditional Rulers said opening up the place for development and ensuring peace and harmony were his achievements.

Good. From this post, it then means that Ooni of Ife that told the story before me and others that fateful day doesn't know the history of Ile Ife because he directed the story to us Igbos as a way of telling us that we are welcomed in Ile Ife, that we should feel at home that Ile Ife remains our home where our ancestors once lived thousand years ago.

So who do we believe now?

These distortions and history discrepancies could be the reason the authors of the said book wrote what they wrote cos after I listened to that story by the Ooni, I took it hook line and sinker ever since then and always ed the Moremi story any day any time cos it was interesting and fun to hear.

But here you are bringing another angel to it, making me and many more confused, you see that we are not to blame but your kings and historians telling us different versions of whatever transpired in Ile Ife back then undecided

Only God knows where they got their history from after they have claimed to be Jew and rejected through DNA, the next best thing to them is claiming Ile Ife.
No Igbo is claiming to be from Ile Ife abeg oh, you guys should get your facts correctly.

Ooni of Ife himself once told the history that ancient Igbos once lived in Ile Ife, they also told the story of how Igbos used to attack Ile Ife people to kidnap their people and take away their farm produce until Moremi helped them infiltrate the Igbo camp and ended the attacks. This is undiluted history from the custodian of Ile Ife culture not hearsay.

The best your fellow Yoruba brothers have done is to twist this story told by Ooni of Ife to mean Bush people (Igbo) as they claim and not the Igbo people of Southeast of today but I was present when Ooni told the story to us none Yorubas, mostly Igbos as a way of welcoming us to his palace and telling us that Ile Ife remains our home that our ancestors once lived here thousand years ago, but here are you uninformed Yoruba kids insulting Igbos because of your history you know nothing about, make Una continue, it doesn't change the history and facts

What are you saying , It is not about Igbo being in Ile ife but the book says Igbo discovered Ile ife . It's a two different thing . Attacking Ile ife and discovering Ile ife are the two different thing
That's why I said the authors probably misinterpreted the history they heard.

But authentic history I heard at the Ooni Palace myself have it that Igbos used to attack Ile Ife until Moremi helped them infiltrate the Igbo camp and brought the attacks to an end.

Ooni also told the story of Igbos living in Ile Ife hundreds of years back, but your fellow Yorubas that don't even know their history are here attacking and cursing Igbos as usual without asking serious questions about what has been said as a way of knowing more, all because of Tinubu's brand of tribalism politics that now make Yorubas use every opportunity to attack and insult Igbos while claiming saints

Fact is Igbo ancestors were at Ife, yes, same Ile Ife, and I heard it first from the Oni of Ife. What I don't know is if they were the first to settle there, and that is where the government should dig up in earnest search for truth and fact.

And as for those of you jumping up and down over what you know next to nothing about, the present Igbo is not planning to come back to Ife for any reason, in fact it was the Oni himself that was asking Igbos not to forget they moved from Ife.

Let the government set up a committee of enquiry to look into history.

Igbos have been in Ife which the Oni himself spoke about severally that Igbos were once at Ife, and same as benin.

I heard Oni of Ife in a video telling Igbo people that they moved from Ife in the olden days.
Government should do a finding rather than dismiss the book entirely just to be politically right.

Going through comments on this threads showed how obviously there little number of learned people on nairaland. No brainstorming, no academic exchange, just blind and ignorant arguments from people who know next to nothing about the topic.

FYI Igbo ancestors were at Ile Ife, go and dig up. The question here is, we're they the first.
Late Ooni of Ife Oba Sijuade also told same story before my eyes.

Tinubu's brand of ethnocentric politics is destroying the previously good nature of Yorubas and they don't know. To them, everything today is a tribal battle or supremacy battle with the Igbos.

Any Yoruba that doesn't believe this should go back and read the history and story of Moremi and why she is highly celebrated in Ile Ife till date.

Instead of them to go back to history and ask questions from the custodians of Yoruba culture like the Ooni of Ife, they prefer to be cursing Igbos and throwing tantrums around, na them sabi my brother

Igbo means bush or forest in Yoruba. That’s why some Yoruba groups have Igbo in their name signifying they are forest dwellers. More I encountered the Ugbo people in current day Ondo.
Ugbo too means bush in Igbo dialect.

There seems to be some atom of truth in the books, it could be the Bush people which the writers attributed as Igbos and they are not wrong because you said there is Igbo that Ile Ife people did encountered and I listened to a Yoruba historian at Oba Sijuade palace in Ile Ife tell the story you quoted, not hearsay.

So tell your people attacking Igbos to borrow some brain, everything no be gragra, Tinubu's politics is definitely misleading Yorubas and it will not end well in future if you guys don't slow down.

There is some truth in the book as told by Ooni Palace during the reign of Oba Sijuade and retold even by Moremi Secondary school if you know ile ife.

The Yoruba historian back then told us that Moremi saved Ile-Ife from Igbo people invasion, how?

They said some strangers always invaded Ile-Ife dressed in a masquerade outfit made with dried grass.

The Yoruba historians said these strangers kept attacking Ife people and kept winning them and making away with their belongings until Moremi, a very beautiful Ile-Ife daughter with a sparkling light skin complexion volunteered to help her people unmask the invaders by making herself available at the place the invaders usually attacked, and when they saw her, they carried her along with other Ile-Ife indigenes they always go along with, and when they got to their place, their king saw Moremi and liked her because of her extreme beauty and married her.

From there, Moremi was taken to the Igbo invaders King palace where Moremi then discovered that those invaders were not spirits like Ile-Ife people believed but were ordinary humans dressed in masquerade costume.

It took Moremi some years to study this and as soon as she got the secret, she escaped back to Ile-Ife and leaked the secret to Ile-Ife kingdom and they prepared and waited for the Igbo invaders and when they attacked, Ile-Ife warriors attacked them back without fear again and defeated them. Oranmiyan was among the warriors.

That is why Ife people celebrate Moremi so much with Oranmiyan too.

This very history was told by a Yoruba historian to my own hearing at Oba Sijuade palace in Ile Ife.

So federal government should leave the shalaye and leave the writers telling their own version of what they heard like me, e no concern Igbos.

A core Yoruba should respond and deny this history I just told now

What a super lucky human. He really needs to write a book about this horrifying life experience, even if it's one paragraph, it would sell shocked

I am guessing the possible cause of this crash as either or the below:

1.) Bird strike that caused the engine to blow

2.) Engine overheating on takeoff, maybe a seal or an o-ring issue

3.) Collision with a projectile (possible missile from Pakistan)?

I am sure investigations are on, what a sad Thursday cry

And you must think you are one of those reasonable men o.

You people and logic are really sworn enemies.

You championed dating 'reasonable guys' and in the same breath turn around to co-sign women giving out their numbers to strange men? Men they do not know from Adam? By your moral standards, that is a responsible thing to do? A man that a lady does not know down to his family house is much more likely to be a good man over one that she has known for years? Or do you actually know how many of those monsters in the stories up there were "street toasters?"

Looks like you're speaking from a place of painful experience o, because if that were not so, you would have parsed this your comment through a common sense test before pressing the submit button.

If you are dating a woman, by your logic, another man will be right to think you're ev#l if he's asking your girlfriend out on the streets. And you would expect loyalty from her not so? But no. On which political party platform is Obi going to deputize Atiku.
The coalition haven't finalized, they haven't reached an agreement yet so relax
franchasofficia: 10:09pm On Jun 11
Obi is the most popular person in Africa right now, he could be the most popular black man on earth as at today, what a man cool

To be honest, Adeyanju is correct.

Tinubu has already bought half of the political elites in the South, including those from the Southeast, so it's going to be a North vs South war in 2027. So in order for the so called coalition to defeat Tinubu and his structure of criminality he is busy assembling, it is better to hand the Presidential ticket to a strong Northern candidate like Atiku Abubakar while Peter Obi throw his for him with his tsunami Obidient Movement and it's over for Baba Sope.

Anything less will be a walkover for Baba Sope.

Obi should not listen to any gaslighting from anybody, there is no shame in restrategizing to win, Tinubu tried severally to deputize even Atiku but got rejected because of Moslem Moslem ticket, so Peter Obi is not too big to run along with Atiku as a running mate, Jeo Biden was once a running mate to Obama.

Are you talking about the Tinubu that had been flying private jet since 1992 or which one? As in, you think Tinubu needs access to FG money before getting proper medical treatment abroad? As in, are people truly this slow or they just post comments like the just for engagement?
You are right, it's not about money.

It's about the interest.

Before he became President, there were less sycophants and interests, so Tinubu wouldn't have the full confidence and conviction to undergo the dangerous (50-50) medical procedures but as a President, he will be encouraged to do it by so many close allies and people with interest in the position he occupies. Some will even go as far as going spiritual to convince him because they want him there to secure their own personal and group's interest.

It's not always easy to agree to go for transplant that you will be told that it's 50-50 when you know you can be managing it. But with too many sycophants and interests, you will be pushed to do it even when you don't want to do it. That was what happened in Tinubu's case, it was not about not having the money before he became President. How can Lagos Monarch and Landlord not have money to take care of his health? Thats not possible

Why Is Tinubu No Longer Muttering Incoherent Words Like 'Balablu Bulaba'?

Why are his hands and legs no longer shaking like some people sang

'Emilokan, Emilokan..Baba wey no well, e dey shout emilokan
Hand dey shake, leg dey shake'
Baba wey no well, e dey shout emilokan

Or was the baba merely pretending during the campaign?
Two things at play:

One is either he acted those scripts to deceive Northerners into helping to rig him in as President with the belief that he would kpai in office like Yaradua so that Boko Haram Shettima will take over. They wanted to do Yorubas what Obasanjo did to them with Yaradua but they never knew that Lukumi people are very smart and cunning like snake cheesy

Secondly, it's either he underwent a serious medical overhaul like Buhari after he bought the Presidential seat, not because he didn't have the money before he emerged illegitimate President, but because he then had a lot of sycophants and emotional/psychological to convince him to embark on the dangerous (50-50) medical overhaul like Buhari, and it probably worked for him and reason his hands and legs no longer shake grin cheesy
