no doubt we all share some few words together, like in urhobo we call blood obara same with you but pronounciation is slightly different, you can as well point out the itsekiri word you think it's igbo.

we are all learning.

Sure, some of the words are shared with Yoruba as well like Yoruba ogun (twenty) and Igbo ọgụ (twenty).

Some words that are similar here are:

Itsekiri - Igbo
ekpetin (box) - akpati
ukpo (bed) - ukpo (platform)
uko (cup) - iko
okérén (man) - okenye
okoro (man) - okoro
aféré (wind) - ufere (breeze/wind)
esin (pig) - ezi
etin (ear) - nti
tolotolo (turkey) - tolotolo

Just a little similar is Itsekiri soro (stand) and Igbo wuzo (stand)

To be fair, Nnamdi Kanu himself has said that he once tried to go by fixing Nigeria or 'his people' as he said. There's nothing he said here that actually contradicts his current message. If anything, it makes him look more upstanding.

There is no doubt that the south is eons of years ahead of your region. The possibility of your region catching up with south is only and only if the south gives up or halt learning for two millenniums.

What is in the south to catch up with?

I noticed where you wrote Ijebu as Ijeeu.....you are cunningly attempting to repeat what Achebe did when he changed name of his ethnic group which for centuries has been known as Ibo and renamed it Igbo to claim ancestry to Ile Ife and the Moremi legend. But we produced the authentic Ugbo to discredit him .

You should have just stuck to what you know, but people on this site do not love doing that.

Hey Rossikki,

Be warned! Yoruba guys dont compromise on stories of our origin at all. We know who we are...from top (Ooni) to individual family compound (Oriki). We have never heard of Jew in our myths, our divinities (400+), our civilization, our oral s, our written narratives, our dynasties or in our spiritualism.

Dont start what you cant finish. Do not repeat this error again. You hear?

They think Yoruba history is in tatters like the Igbo who anybody can take advantage of, please stop him before una youths start to exhibit confusion like Igbo youths now. Trust me, it's not fun.

Please, this is not true.

Anyway, this is just a subtle announcement of where the US stands with any secession, they are ready to back Nigeria because they want Nigeria to be united, along with other powers, this has nothing to do with if Nigeria works for the people or not.

You will never in a million times a billion times a trillion years hear a Jew even hinting at the idea that their ancestors may have migrated from Igboland or ANYWHERE else in Africa, yet there are a significant amount of Igbo people claiming to have trekked over a thousand miles through the desert with no archaeological, cultural or any other kind of evidences all because a middle eastern religion has warped their minds so much that they strain themselves to make any bogus links to the characters (as in made up story figures) in the religious texts. This is coupled with the shame some of these Igbo Israeli's have for being black, so much so that these people sometimes claim to have turned black from Godly white and have been cursed because of mingling with their black neighbours. This is how sick and warped and twisted the Igbo Israeli theories are.

These Igbo Israeli's have taken it further thanks to the idiotic Zionist sentiments among many Biafran agitation groups by adopting Ashkenazi dress and customs like suit wearing in their hot ass AFRICAN weather when these customs along with the star of David were manufactured in EUROPE. The entire exercise serves as an example at the complete inferiority most BLACK Africans regard themselves in, the emotional hocus pocus bullshit ridden mindsets most of them operate with. Some try and rig and jig their names and native town names into Hebrew sounding names like Obuga to Obu Gad.

The most embarrassing aspect of the Igbo Israel worship is that the obsession is not reciprocated, the Igbo Israeli's are treated like bastard children by the few Israeli's who care to stoop to their level and who they see that should be kept at arms length like a fatherless baby until some kind of link may be substantiated and then reluctantly accepted if proven, ask the Ethiopian Jews about the Ethiopian Jewish women that weer sterilized by Israel, ask about Ethiopian Jews being stomped on by racist Jews.

And these people will never ask the reverse, if we're using these very basic similarities as a link, then logically, since Africa is the birthplace of mankind, could the Israeli's not be from Igboland instead, no, they won't ask because they know the power dynamic and they see these people as their superiors, as aspirational models of white glory, they know Israeli's will not give a flying shit about investing in tracing themselves back to Africa. Can you imagine Israeli's wearing Igbo cloth, or Netanyahu addressing his people with okpu agu? The fact that that image is comical yet Igbo people actually dress in Jewish prayer shawls says all that needs to be said. I have yet to see an Igbo Israeli linking themselves with Ethiopian Jews or Lemba, etc, they're not white enough I guess.

Funny they call themselves a "lost tribe", that's the only veritable statement they make.

Interesting........
However, would you rather have the white people "not" be interested in learning a culture other than their own?
I don't see the problem with someone sincerely trying.
I'd rather see a white person celebrating another culture than degrading or hating it.
I've grown up around racism....which is the norm for me unfortunately...and it's a terrible thing.
The Kingdom of God will be made up of all nations, kindreds and tongues....

I don't care what white people do or who is going to be in the magical fairytale kingdom we will apparently never see alive (go figures), the topic is about white people doing very basic things and Nigerians worshipping the ground they walk on for it.

OP you can interchange African American with Nigerians in this example... one sermon long ago I tried to tell my large African American congregation that Jesus was as black as me and you.. don't you know they tried to whip my a** ! after that. grin

The same happens when a white person claps twice in rhythm, it's like a miracle has happened.

Pure lie. Most AA despise whites to one degree or the other, and the same in reverse.. due to the centuries of bad blood between the two groups. If anything, it's the other way around. White Americans have for centuries attempted to rob and hold claim to countless AA music forms, dances, words play, engineering, medical, and scientific inventions and advancements just to name a few things. It would be an understatement to say that there's bad blood between the two; at best they are simply cordial with each-other but the cinder to spark the next major rift between the two always burns red hot below the surface of this scab of a cover.

I don't agree, the practice of putting very light skinned or foreign girls was borrowed from black people in America, many black people in America, especially women, complain about the same thing as well as the preference for lighter complexion. When blacks are successful in America, they often move into white neighbourhoods.

In fact if there's one thing Nigeria has over America it's the fact that dark women are the norm in Nigerian media.

White people and their offspring are like Gods to most Nigerians, they are the standard of everything regardless of what their position is or how they have gotten to their position of relative success. Nigerians revere white people so much that when a white person does something as simply as wear an item of traditional African clothing or speaks a Nigerian language and participates in a Nigerian culture in the bare minimum, Nigerians loose their mind, it is like their God and saviour has stooped to their level.

Take this video for example, people all over the world sing in many different languages, but when it comes to white people singing in Igbo or Yoruba the blacks start rolling on the ground crying and praising God that a white man has cared to indulge in their lowly culture in their eyes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of_sRHlCk-c

How many white women have made celebrity entirely out of simply learning a Nigerian language or song? How many cringy "Oyinbo" girls and boys are there, while an average Nigeria would be laughed at if they do not speak English properly? Look at many Nigerian music videos, filled with white or half white people, people that do not make up 0.1% of the Nigerian population, how many oyibo music videos have black or Nigerian women in them?

Even look at the so called origin myth of many Nigerians, if it's not Baghdad for the Hausa, it's Mecca for the Yoruba, if not that, it's Israel for the Igbo. How popular would these theory of origins be if the people currently living there now weren't white, but were say the colour of South Sudanese, why do Africans never claim to descend from another part of Africa but always the Middle East? Because deep down they want to be connected to white skin and white people.

@ezeagu,
The last part of the original post says;

"Igbos should ignore this ‘referendum gift’ and remain in Nigeria and fight for their rights, because Biafra without Igbo ports of Port Harcourt (Igwe Ocha), Onne, or Bonny (Igwe Ngaa), would not be viable, and enemies of the Igbo will laugh. They will come on forums like Nairaland to mock you mercilessly.

"If you chose to agitate legally, which is your right (I for one believe we should give Nigeria another chance), then, agitate democratically and make sure you gain at least a port for the country you want. If for any reason you can’t do that, better remain in this house that Zik built (where you have 5-7 Igbo controlled states in SE and SS and give Nigeria a chance to succeed.

Source: http://www.igbodefender.com/2017/06/22/port-harcourt-bonny-onne-ports-at-stake-if-igbos-chose-biafra-referendum/#more-559

This seems more like a presumption that those places (by the way Bonny has never been Igwe Nga and the people who own Bonny, whether boat-people or whatever, identify strongly with Ijaw, and Onne is Eleme as noted) will happily dance into a separation with the SE, there was no question as to whether they would want to the SE anyway. In fact, the primary reason why Port Harcourt may not the SE is because they do not want to, not because of Hausa or whatever.

Take this scenario of instance, if half of present day Anambra was somehow split in the SS and Nnewi was in the SS and this referendum proposal was put forward cutting them off, would you not here a roar coming from indigenous Nnewi people? The enthusiasm is just not there.

read my post well. i never argued that SS minorities will just SE in Biafra. my arguement is simple- SS Igbos may be comfortable in a seperate region as long as SE Igbos remain in Nigeria. They know the presence of SE gives them some kind of security and removes their fear, but when it comes to an issue as permanent as independence, SE exit will trigger some sort of chain reaction. eg Asaba pple who are hardcore Biafrans will be quite vocal in demanding to BIAFRA and when they , the IKA will them for sake of Anioma unity. Again, Obigbo, etche and egbema areas in Rivers are more ionate about Biafra than the rest and of a fact, you dont mean to tell me the Ikwerres will stay behind when those who have been their neighbours throughout history are ing a whole new country. i cant really predict the non Igbo SS group that will but when PH 'falls' to Biafra, many south south minority groups who see the place as their rallying point might opt to .The urhobo and itshekiri are off my assumption therefore idont see them ing. therefore my assumption is that the reaction will follow this pattern--SE Igbos demand to exit-- SS Igbos them-- SS minorities demand to SS Igbos. i never said SS minorities will expressly SE without SS Igbos ing. but the north's fear is that SS Igbos will certainly SE b'cos of fear.

As an intelligent poster said in another thread, an Igbo mind you, referendums happen once, they cost money, they won't just be popping up and down as any small city or village demands. The SE leaving will mean the SE leaving alone, when the Yugoslavia split, the ethnic communities outised of the main homeland were living behind walls, no such thing as re-referendum, look at Kosovo and Albania. The voice of the Igbo in Asaba and so on will be drowned out, there will be little they can do once a referendum has been signed and sealed, the whole debacle will not be opened again just so that Asaba can the SE, the rest of Nigeria will make sure of that.

Port Harcourt is also a very tricky one because without any kind of Igbo consciousness among Ikwere people, Port Harcourt is gone, unless you want to go to war for Ikwere indigenous lands because of Igbo migrants.

As I've been saying, IPOB doesn't know what they are doing, I opened a thread on why the 'Biafra' movement should be centred on Igbo land and what people are realising now is exactly why that should be. Without Igbo consciousness outside of the SE you can kiss Port Harcourt and co goodbye because they will not go, the IPOB protesting there are mostly migrants, the people who occupied Igbo houses during the war still occupy them and you people are calling them Biafrans.

The idea that Kalabari or Ibibio, etc will demand to the SE is far fetched, all of these groups are worried about Igbo domination, so why will they fall into the den of the Igbo people?

It's obvious most Igbo people do not wish to learn about their neighbours and what their neighbours think of the Igbo, because it will surprise you, not this foolish IPOB propaganda about Igwa Nga and Igala Biafrans.

Again, the northerners know those SS Igbos will only be happy to stay in Nigeria and answer 'SS people' so long as SE Igbos remain in Nigeria. They know that once the SS Igbos are certain that south easterners are leaving Nigeria, they will , and when they , be certain that many south south groups will opt to Biafra. This is where the agitation is heading to and the north know they cant stop it, hence, their frustration.

Which SS groups, specifically, is going to Biafra the south east?

You see the pile of shit IPOB has dished out with this old east two-wrapper tying, tribes that start with 'I', bullshit, now you're going to be left fighting for scraps of land as non-SE Igbo do not strongly identify with the largest Igbo body, now we are renaming Bonny as if the indigenes of Bonny see themselves as Igbo, and relying on Onne which has never had anything to do with Igboland.

How are Igbo people letting these illiterates have this much voice?
