*Appeal for Absorption into Edo State Civil Service.*

We were employed on 31st October 2023 following a rigorous selection process that included a computer-based test and an oral interview. The initiative, which was widely publicized in Vanguard Newspaper and on Nairaland aimed to train and equip 100 professionals in the built environment before absorbing them into the Edo State Civil and Public Service. The program commenced in October 2023 and concluded in October 2024. However, only 58 of us remain committed to this cause.

The training program was designed to prepare us for active roles in the state’s development. As professionals from diverse fields within the built environment, we are eager to contribute our skills and knowledge to the growth and development of Edo State. Unfortunately, despite the assurances in the initial ment, our absorption into the civil service has yet to materialize.

We have made several efforts to seek resolution by writing to key government offices, including:
The Secretary to the Edo State Government,
The Chief of Staff,
The Head of Service, and
The Office of the First Lady.

However, we are yet to receive a favorable response.

On behalf of my colleagues, I humbly appeal to you to kindly intervene in this matter. If possible, we would greatly appreciate it if you could reach out to Hon. Gani Audu or any other top government official to consider our case. We are ionate about serving our state and do not wish to return to the streets after the extensive training and knowledge we have acquired.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. We remain hopeful for your kind assistance and look forward to a positive resolution.

I went to warehouse we store things in our rented apartment . We don't open that place for months.
I was searching for jerrycan for fuel as I open the warehouse a black and white cat was inside the warehouse.
It saw me and panic and ran away.
As I flash torch for that side lo and behold I saw group of kittens. Very small and delicate.

I told our caretaker who is a lady
She panicked and said we should kill it which I kind of feel is heartless. But she is the caretaker

Now I went back there this morning and the cat saw me, got scared and ran away through a space on the roof. The cat ran away in fear leaving the kittens.

She said we should I drown the kittens in big paint bucket. Or else the cat will make that place permanent home and other start cats will populate that place

Abeg what should I do about this?

Trust me, you have a very good landlord. May God continue to bless him. I can't forget in a hurry one of the most horrific experiences I had.

A friend of mine ( of blessed memory)who travelled abroad came back and was needed a place to stay. As bachelor wey I be, I accommodated him because I felt it would be a waste of money for him to lodge in a hotel for like 2 months. On fateful day, I went to see my parents and called this my friend that I may come back late, so he should please be on the look out in case the gate is locked.

Unfortunately for me, my phone ba3 died and unknowingly to me, this my friend had gone out but put my key somewhere for me because according to him, he had been trying to reach out to me, but my phone was off. To cut the long story short, I came back around 10pm and was knocking and knocking at the gate for like 3 hours and no one came to open. Around 1am or so, I had to scale the fence because I didn't have any friend close by and I didn't want to go back home to my parents because it was very dangerous at that time of the day with robbery incidents and all and also because I was a bit drunk due to "several issues "I was facing at the time.

So back to my story, na so I scale fence o and slept in front of my door because I didn't know that my friend kept the key for me. I thought he mistakenly took it with him. Around 3am or so, that was how I felt a sharp pain on my back . I didn't know my neighbours or landlord had gone to call OPC vigilante and also the police that a thief broke into the compound. Na so them start to molest me o. Honestly, I cried that day, not because of the pain, but because of the denial and embarrassment I got.

I vowed never to give birth in that compound even if I marry because it made me to realise the kind of people I was living with. Imagine coming at 10am and nobody responds at all despite using force and even stones to hit the gate to get attention. See ehn, I DONT CARE neighbours are in abundance. They just only care about themselves and I learnt a very big lesson that day.

Suffice to say the police that came were reasonable and very understanding and never molested me, but the OPC vigilante people used the side of cutlass to be flogging me. I had my revenge on the perpetrators exactly a year after and they also pleaded with me and we settled, but that's a story for another day !
