The earlier you focus on 1 the better for u.

When I was starting my career in tech... Any new thing I see I jump head-on to it just because I love learning and had the gift of spending hours Infront of a PC without getting bored.

Results? Became confused not knowing career to stick to, Today I'm doing frontend, tomorrow backend or marketing or Wordpress or Blogging.

Spent solid 4 years struggling where and what to actually do with knowledge I had acquired why my friends who sticked to one thing built their career in that niche.

Jack of all trade master of non was what I became... Thank God I made those mistakes when I was in the university and

Funny how most jump to conclusion. You probably didn't read to comprehend.

I got into IT out of ion and not really for the money unlike a lot of people. Just fortunate enough such ion pays my bills.

Now does that mean I shouldn't or don't have other hobbies ? I have built lots of electrical things while in Primary and Secondary school. Used to be a regular visitor to where they repair Tv, Radios, etc; same way lots of kids my age then were into playing all manner of games.

Despite being young, could handle Multi-meter, Soldering iron, etc and could read diode, capacitors, and lots of other things including knowing their functions and uses. I dey even scatter transformer, come use am build speaker, and the likes. No be say I go learn work Ooo, just say I was ionate about them.

Even before I started using Solar, built a large battery bank that could power my laptop for close to 3 days, and still found a way to deceive Windows Operating system into not shutting down because it's internal meter didn't recognize the modded battery I gave it.
When I finally started using Solar, were you expecting such expertise not to come in ?

Naturally, I'm the curious type; same me sabi balance double column cash book, handle Trial balance and Balance sheets despite being a Science student. I fit follow you speak for over 30-minutes and You go think say I be ing student - of course e get where e go reach, truth go come out. Make we no enter medical profession also. See eh, some of us have scattered knowledge, it kinda helps but that doesn't mean we're into 100% or even 60% into it.

There are lots of things that if you who's into it fully ain't good enough, and you hear me speak, you would thing I am your senior in such field.

Now about the other things I listed I do also, I love keeping pets and growing plants right from a young age; I growing lots of corn and beans in small butter or Tin milk containers. of course they always die after growing to a few inches but it was fun; same with animals hence now, I got my space, I plant a couple of things, what I don't know, I either ask questions, research deeply about them (and most times end up knowing more) and that's it.

Abi I should say since I am into IT, I should disregard all my other ions. Some of us got multiple talents, you just got to focus on the strong ones. If to say we dey better country, come get opportunity, I doubt I would do anything computer related sef because I love working and building electronics related fields.

So abeg save your blanket statement for when it would be relevant. For my kinda person, e no relevant at all. Mind you, I speak more than PHP. I don add GO, RUST (basic), C#, etc. No go think say I be your regular WordPress and script installer dude wey dey add fancy names such as devOp as title.

I know frontEnd, backEnd, Server setUp and istration, can write performant SQL and look out for where to apply optimizations, etc not because I learnt them all at same time BUT because those were the ladders I climbed.

I started as web designer using templates, and Microsoft frontPage, later upgraded to using dreamWeaver but because I kept wanting more control, I ditched them all and started raw coding using notePad++, then I met wordPress, used it for a while, then back to raw PHP while I got better at it. Latter added more languages.
Even when it comes to frontEnd, despite being a developer, I know raw HTML and CSS (not frameWorks Ooo). As for backEnd, there are lots of PHP or Python developers who don't know the raw language; all they know is the frameWork - Me no follow for their Ooo.

How did I go into Server istration ? Had issue with lots of hosting companies and their limitations, I started doing hosting initially at home, then Colocation, and today, got a number of servers we manage both Colocation , bareMetals, and Home-servers which hosts some low to medium traffic apps.

How about Mobile apps, how about AI, how about machine learning ? Never attempted any of those because I know I can't be everywhere.

mind You, I am self Taught.

Absolutely nothing wrong in being all these. If that makes you into "so many things", make the person dive rock. Apart from 1 and 4, I have interests in all the others, either professionally (number 2), hobby (number 3, not an installer but I like to track production and consumption make I know where I fit optimise), or "student" (I'm tired of earning only if I seat in front of a PC, about time person figure Investment out and start living out the book "The Richest Man in Babylon". ).

You could start the lazy man way where you let your Money work for you. You earn better than Your banks pays you for keeping Money with them.
Then when you come up with a Business that's feasible and viable, you could invest the money and make more.
For a start, you could look into Money Market Funds, and Treasury Bills if you not into them already.
Nowadays, rarely do I have up to 50,000 naira in my .

And NO, it's still with the Banks, and other government authorized institutions hence not the funny things people are used to

Kindly mention the name of the hosting package you bought as listed on their website. Mind You, I KNOW nothing about them
Just checked their hosting prices on the following pages https://bt-host.com.ng/client/index.php?rp=/store/web-hosting and https://bt-host.com.ng/client/index.php?rp=/store/unlimited-hosting

Got the message "Good morning boss. Do you still code, wordpress/PHP ? Saw your nairaland profile, seems you are into so many things"

My Response

1. I am a Software developer.
2. A server BECAUSE I manage our servers, some of which is used for web-Hosting
3. I am a Solar installer BUT mostly because I am a hobbyist, (have above basic technical experience on electronics) who also uses Solar at scale hence experienced in it.
4. I have a garden at home hence got few experience in that also.
5. I invest some of my money hence equally got some experience in that field (investment banking) also.

Overall, I am officially a full time developer and Server by profession. I just happen to be the sort who loves knowing and understanding what's happening behind the scenes.

My battery is 12V DC, does this mean my controller port (I have a controller with an output port) will produce clean 12V?

If yes, then I think it would solve the problem.
if the battery bank, not just the battery is rated 12-volts, then the Charge controller port would be 12-volts and a clean one devoid of noise.

so even if you have 1 or 2 or 3 or even 20 pcs of 12volts battery, so long they are all connected in parallel, then it's still a 12-volts backUp which is good for your need.

If you have just 1pcs of 12-volts battery, then you are good to go.

But if you have more than 1pcs of 12-volts battery, and you not sure if they're connected in series or parallel, would suggest you let us know first.

Now what is noise - To speak layman's language, Noise is when the output is not stable and could increase or decrease any how

My questions:

1. Is it safe to connect the battery directly to the camera’s power input? NO
2. When fully charged, the battery can output around 12.6V to 13V—is this safe for the camera? NO
3. During solar charging, voltage can reach up to 14.5V—would this damage the camera if it's connected? YES except the camera's input voltage has a range of between 12v to 15v
4. How do I ensure correct polarity when wiring? Use colored wires to differentiate +ve and -ve e.g (RED for Positive, any other color apart from BROWN for Negative)
5. Is it safe to charge the battery and power the camera at the same time? YES and NO - it just depends on how the camera is connected

You didn't tell us how the camera's charging system is. MayBe the camera has an external 12-volts charger which ends up with an OutPut of a clean 6volts, or maybe the external charger accepts DC voltage in range of 12 to 15 volts which could be dirty BUT outputs clean 12-volts which gets fed directly to the Camera.
Now should you make this by by directly connecting the Camera to the battery, even if it's same 12-volts, you risk damaging the camera due to how dirty the voltage supplied is.

If the Camera's charger output 12-volts, and you sure the Camera also accepts input of 12-volts, what you could do is ensure you do not draw the current directly from the battery BUT it through something that would clean it up to remove noise so it's clean
A simple way of having such clean output, is to either build the circuit, or it through something else that outputs clean 12-volts.

A lot of charge controllers, have 12-volts output port BUT you need be sure your battery backUp is 12-volts because that port is not always 12-volts BUT the voltage of the battery bank hence is your battery bank's voltage is 48-volts, then that port is automatically 48-volts BUT if it's 12-volt, then the port would also be 12-volt.

If you're to build one yourself, you would need a couple of diodes, capacitors, etc and know how to do things yourself

I need your insights please.

Can I safely power a 12V CCTV camera directly from a 12V battery (charged by solar)?

I have a CCTV camera that normally runs on an adapter rated for 12V DC, 2A (input: 100–240V AC). I want to by the adapter and power the camera directly from a 12V battery (such as a sealed lead-acid or LiFePO4), which is charged by a solar system[b].

Nobody talks about this stuff on this thread.

If you are going to spend on what has been recommended (the recommendation is Valery valid) be will to spend well on a good installer.

Is funny a lot of people will spend good money on equipment the spoil it with cheap installation....

Inverter will damage then you will hear this product is not good
quite agree with you BUT paying millions to an installer, doesn't automatically make an Installer good enough. Na your work to employ services of a good installer, then negotiate with them. Sometimes, na even the Cheap one that might end up serving you more.

What is the phenomenon called in which if you turn off a fan or an amplifier the smart TV blinks for a millisecond?

What is the reason why that happens when my inverter is powering the smart TV and the fan or the smart TV and the amplifier?
there are several things that could cause such to happen. One thing I know is it mostly or only happens when there's noise or voltage drop somewhere in the circuitry/system.
Can't recall but I don talk am here before and a popular scenario some people could relate with is, a sound system that works well BUT trips OFF and ON the moment you raise the volume so high BUT would return to normal operation when the high volume is reduced

Is there a market for used tubular batteries?
Yes there is. Issue is, Tubular batteries are more rugged and durable than ordinary Lead acid battery hence except that battery is being sold because previous owner is upgrading, or relocating, chances are what you are buying is an exhausted thoroughly used battery, hence there would be little to nothing much left for you the potential new . In other words, except you're lucky to see a Tubular battery being sold because owner is upgrading or relocating, na Nonsense you go buy

The tilt angle should be around 10° to 40°, depending on the region of the country.

Mounting it on a roof wastes the bifacial power gain and unnecessarily burdens your roof with more weight, as it is heavier than an equivalent conventional monofacial PV .
Even when well mounted, don't think the GAINs is worth the extra price
