A member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, Bode George, has expressed dismay over the sealing of the PDP’s national secretariat by the Federal Capital Territory istration due to unpaid ground rent.

George said it was painful that the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, under whose authority the FCTA carried out the action, is a member of the PDP.

Officials of the FCTA sealed the PDP headquarters, also known as Wadata Plaza, in Abuja on Monday during the enforcement of the revocation of 4,794 properties for non-payment of ground rent, which ranged from 10 to 43 years.

Properties owned by government institutions, corporate organisations, and individuals were also affected.

This man is become senile. The same you will accuse him of trying to highjack the party if he does. What are the PDP governors doing? What is PDP doing with the contribution from the Governors, Senators, Reps and other other stakeholders of the party?

Why am I even surprised? The same PDP that couldn't build a permanent secretariat when the sitting President and majority of the National Assembly were of the PDP. You raised funds and embezzled it. Common ground rent, you couldn't even manage to pay. Now, you are shouting Wike this, Wike that. Shebi you said Wike should be expelled for anti-party activities? Why are you now soliciting that he should pay your ground rent? Thieves! These are the clowns that wants us to entrust our votes to them in 2027. LOL

PDP was the ruling party when crude oil was sold at it's highest ever in the history of Nigeria. Yet, una no fit build ordinary secretariat grin grin grin

Was he not in PDP and even in charge of the party, according to his sympathisers when the backlog ground rent was incurred

Fayose & Wike Have Brought Shame To PDP – Ali Sheriff

PDP national chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff gave a statement after his Victory at the appeal court. He said he will restructure the party in such a way that Governors Ayo Fayose and Nyesom Wike cannot contain because they have brought “shame” to the party.

Read what he said below:

“I will engineer a restructuring of the PDP such that characters like Wike and Fayose cannot find a way through to attain any position of prominence in our party in the future. They have brought shame and agony through the application of their crude and godless politics which is at variance with the principles upon which our founding fathers built our great party.

2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury

Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.

One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.

Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.

Where is APC secretariat in Lagos and Maiduguri that they have ruined continuously for 26 years of looting, robbing and stealing from the masses instead of employing civil servants to fix the basic things of governance like water?

Potable water still luxury 23 years after return of democracy

WHILE the Federal Government continues to proliferate the country with dams, it is such an irony that a state like Lagos, with its massive, constant boast of being a megacity, cannot provide its residents, thereby forcing the bulk of them to take solace in the arms of water boreholes.

At regular intervals, the two major waterworks in the state, the Adiyan, and Iju get grounded leading to the non-availability of water. In April and May last year, for instance, they both produce less than 10% of their installed capacity.

As of today, Eti-Osa, Apapa, Victoria Island, Badagry, Ibeju Lekki, Surulere, Ikorodu, Agege, Ojo, Mushin Kosofe, and most locations in the state are without access to clean water. Consequently, millions of residents now rely on boreholes, rivers, rainwater, as well as comprised wells for their water needs.

On its website, the LWC claims that it has a total installed water production capacity of 210 million gallons per day (MGD), which is far lower than the current estimated daily water demand of 540 million gallons per day.

Also, its plan to produce 745 million gallons per day by the year 2020 through the Lagos Water Supply Master Plan fell flat with the actual number of citizens having access to potable water dropping, rather than increasing 11 years after the launch of the master plan.

A senior staff of LWC, who preferred anonymity said that at present, its agency only supplies water to Lekki, parts of Ikoyi, Victoria Island (VI), Ojodu, Iju, and some parts of Ikotun.
