Many a times, when you hear news like this, a glimmer of hope is born; but, after a while when reality sets in, the hope becomes dashed.

Before Dangote refinery began operations, everyone thought there was light at the end of the tunnel with regard to our economy. Today, the refinery has begun full capacity operations, yet we are still where we were.

I pray things change though!

Polypropylene is a very vital raw material upon which vibrant CAD and CAM industry for small household items can be built around. Imagine production of kitchen utensils, plastic reinforced or pure furnitures, electronics cases, manual devices, medical kits and more. The clueless morons at the top are too lazy to take on such challenges.

They prefer a single bridge or flyover or highway they can easily award and get huge cuts as kickback while leaving room for their foot soldiers to supply trucks of sand and cement.

How many engineering faculties of schools around have 3D prototyping machines and printers?

Do they allow the refinery to function?, if yes then you are a fool
Fiscus105:

Provided Nigeria govt would allow him to function.

I don't get it... Fuel, bitumen, Fertilizer, now polypropylene... How many products exactly are gotten from a refinery?

Does that mean if Dangote decides not to produce fuel, it's possible he can still be making profits?

I agree with you completely. I am not moved in the slightest by this. We all heard how many billions in dollars of FX Dangote was going to save us from. But look at what is happening now, importation using the same FX Dangote was supposed to save us is used fully for importation of fuel that could be sourced locally by powers that be. There is nothing like 1+1=2 in Nigeria. Everything is twisted

These are the kind of development we need in times like this, where materials that can generate revenues for the country are being processed locally,in other words exporting this goods is going be a sure deal ,Africa as a continent is likely to be sole beneficiary .Kudos to Alhaji Dangote and his management team!

That $267m savings is just the beginning.

When Dangote starts exporting, that will be another huge foreign exchange inflow.

Truly, this is a game changer for Nigeria.

For Dangote and Nigeria government you mean?

How true is this statement.

Change will come but it will take time, it is gradual process. I never expected fuel to come down immediately, you will see the changes when the economy is more stable and the pressure on the dollar reduces thereby reducing the price of fuel.
