Please I am having a running battle with my decoder. Strong 4955. It shows "signal is weak". I invited the installer who came and work on the installation with his decoder and it works fine and cool but when he replaced it with mind all signal gone.

I took it to a technician who tested and said that the signal is ok but when plugged back home it goes off air. Just Tuesday,the installer came back to do the installation, after 3hours battle, he installed Eutelsat 5w and Astra 2 but after the machine was switched off, the signal all gone again.

He suggested I buy a new decoder.

Please I need advice on which that will give me that desired satisfaction?
Pls I need to buy one today. Can't afford to stay "noiseless". My budget is N10k or less

Signal loss/weak reception is a very complicated problem with strong Decoder but it rarely occurs. What you need to do:

Try a different software version from the once you have in your current decoder. This is to check if it is a software problem.

If it persist then you might need to check the hardware but because the recent decoder s are just complicated and most Nigeria technicians do not have the technical know-how to handle it then you may need to buy a new decoder.

With your budget of 10K you can get a C-sat decoder for 7K.

Note: I had early in my previous post here ed and condemned C-sat 8 pro decoders but if you must get one then do the following:

Get a good surge protect switch, stabilizer or better still place in under UPS.

Why not try reloading the firmware and if that doesn't work probably the tuner has issue. From the sat u tracking it seems you have a bud, buy a forever server decoder like mediastar, tiger, etc because the latest strong 497s doesn't patch for biss, cccam, powervu,etc.

Switch on the decoder while pressing the standby button, the upgrade should be done. They are reliable but it's selling point is the forever server if you have a big dish.

For the record, the channels there are currently off. However, in of a favourite channel in that particular sat. My personal view will be out of place because the channel that really hyped that sat, was the sport station. Which is really not my thing anymore.

I am more of local/foreign news and foreign TV series. Which has shifted my attention to 4.8degree east C-band.

Where I can watch the likes of

Ait
Tvc news
Tvc entertainment
Hip TV
Wap tv

And there I was so outdated in the satellite tv world, until a brother here reminded me of what I have forgotten for so long to try.

So I connected a modem to my 4954 decoder and the free one year that came with it gave me full access to watch the AFN package there. There I was so blinded by the hype that only forever server could do that back then.

Anyways make we leave the matter silently on that note that 4954 matter nor only end for just multistream

From my point of view, there is no one answer to this technical issue you are having. So let me outline some of the things that could possibly bring about such.

= substandard Rf modulator

= wrong Av cord ( is it follow come? )

= negative and positive wires in your RF Cable, ing each other.

= some Rf modulator will bring out more than one same channels on different frequencies when scanning on your TV. The first channel that pops up is never clear and it keeps scanning until it brings out the one with a clear picture quality. So keep your eyes on the TV and watch out for that. Because it will help you know if really the particular modulator you bought can or was doing that. So probably the clearer channel is there but you missed it.

You can still a picture of the modulator you're using here. It can still help to give the house a clarity of what you are working with. Thereby giving room for more information to give to you. That is if you have not succeeded in fixing the issue after observing some of the things I listed above.

By the way before I forget to ask, are you the one who did the wiring yourself ? or the house has already been wired and you just plugged in the rf out cable to the TV port on the wall?

If you're not the one that did the wiring yourself.. I will advice you to loose out the each TV port ... The one feeding the connection from the living room where your decoder is and the rest feeding the two TVs. Check to make sure that the cable wires are connected properly. Because I have seen different cases where the electrician that wired the house. Never bothered to connect anything, both in the rf socket and sometimes I had to trace the problem to the roof and notice that the wire coming from the living room. Terminated somewhere in the roof and not loop out to any of the rooms . Thereby eliminating any possibility of current flow.

The above situation can very much make every effort to be fruitless, even if you're using the most expensive modulator in the market.

So please don't overlook but try to confirm
