Even with the over supply of TV series on offer nowadays .... There is a gaping hole (Spartacus-esque type of series) waiting to be filled.

300 prequel will fill that hole perfectly.

Finally found time to watch this HBO gem. storytelling at its peak despite being a head wracking mystery. I still no understand wetin dey sup and some weird characters with their non linear behaviours but the drama, thriller and acting keeps on climbing new heights with each episode.

Now that's a big way to end a season.

I knew I'd enjoy it later on so I wasn't too bothered for abandoning it for long and still went ahead to the whole season. Gut feeling at its peak.

Top tier TV show. And seeing this Carrie Coon just dey gimme joy. Margaret Qualley and Justin Theroux are solid scene stealers too.
It's super talky and a pretty slow burn but storytelling and writing is worth it.

Wait you are just seeing it now!? It's like one of the best HBO shows ever, so so good. The opening episode was so so profound, set up everything nicely. In season 2 it seems they were doing a different show, but it was all connected in a beautiful way.

I the subreddit used to go off with so many reactions because there was so many aspects of the show that defied logic and reasoning, like did Wayne actually had powers or was it all just symbolic 😅.

Max Richter also created magic with the score, especially the opening sequence.

Blood of Zeus season 1......8.2/10


Sometimes it's good to give a show a second try. I dropped this show on my first watch some years back and I decided to try again after season 2 was released and yeah the show did impress me in some areas.
I won't go into the plot because i assume most people here watched it.

The show highlights humans are merely pawns in the schemes of the gods. The show doesn't show the gods as noble, in fact they are worse than the humans they claim to guide...even Zeus.

It also addresses Free will vs Fate.
The gods claimed that humans have free will but are merely guided by the gods and used the "symbolism of a child crawling towards the edge of a table".
And the gods take the role of the adults saving the child from his mistakes and guiding the child.

This raises many ideas for instance the gods themselves been imperfect, whimsical and acting out their desires, wants, emotions, revenge etc. How then can they who are worse than humans guide the humans?

The real victims in the show are the humans themselves. Heron and his brother Seraphim for instance...and even the innocent villagers caught in the schemes of the gods.

Seraphim has the right idea of being free from the whims of the gods but he goes about it the wrong way. The more he tries to fight his way out of their control, the more his fate becomes further determined by the whims and actions of these gods.
Even in death he cannot escape it.

Perhaps the only way for Seraphim to escape it is to do away with his own desires for revenge and power and his fear. Otherwise he is condemned to remain their plaything.

Will watch season 2 soon...

Animes are also represented in Tv shows, so they have every right to post such here since the anime they post, is serialized. it does not constitute as derailing. Going by this your logic, we might as well go and open thread for every medium or genre of Tv shows.

How you make a fictional story reflective of the American reality in a bid to minimise or excuse the mess that we experience in Nigeria is puzzling. The American justice system obviously has it's lapses but what seen in this show isn't one of them. No city in the US runs like that. None.

Don't mind me oo. The show has been on my watchlist for like 4 years or more. I don't know why it took me this long to get to it. There's dozens more HBO shows I got to watch. Everywhere just choke. Those people truly know what it means to create a masterpiece.

Didn't know there are killer bandits in the US who have massacred communities, made some major roads unpliable due to kidnapping risks, caused food insecurity by killing farmers, destroying farms and forcing the farmers to work for them.

America might be a mess of a developed country but please don't try this joke of comparing us to them. There are literally fellow African countries doing better than us in multiple aspects that won't claim to be on the same level with the US.
