Olowu Hails Appointment Of Major Gen. Farouk Yahaya As New Chief Of Army Staff
.....Urges Nigerians To Him

Olowu of Kuta, Ayedire Local Government, His Royal Majesty Oba Oyelude Makama, Tegbosun 111, has congratulated the new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Farouk Yahaya on the new Appointment.

Olowu in a statement by his media office in Kuta on Thursday also hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for the new appointment, adding that the new helmsman is a war tested General who’s equal to the task.

The monarch however urged Nigerians to rally round Major General Yahaya in the onerous Task of defeating the insurgents and banditry in the country.

He, however, advised the new army chief to also ensure harmonious working relationship with other service chiefs as well as those serving in the various operations across the country.

“ I urge Nigerians to rally round Major General Yahaya bearing in mind that we all have our role(s) to play and ensure that we rid our country of undesirable elements within a shortest time possible.

Before his appointment on Thursday as the 22nd COAS, Maj Gen Faruk Yahaya was the Theatre Commander Operation HADIN KAI, responsible for Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency operations in North East Nigeria.

The new COAS is a proud holder of several honours and awards, some of which include, Forces Service Star, Meritorious Service Star, Distinguished Service Star, Grand Service Star, ed staff course (Dagger), National DefenceCourse (Chile), Economic Community of West Africa State Monitoring Group Medal, Command Medal, Field Command Medal, General Operations Medal, Silver Jubilee Medal and Golden Jubilee.

I have no doubt the new COAS will succeed because he has always been a team player and a tested infantry General.

The insecurity in Nigeria is way beyond the appointment of a new COAS. The tyrant has never taken security seriously, he’s only interested in nepotism, he has made things far worse than his predecessors.

A tyrant who tried to destroy democracy now leading it, does that sound like Nigeria’s ugly past is behind it as a country?

Appointing an igbo as army chief of staff will be a disaster to ipob agitation, so ipobs are the happiest people about this appointment

I'm personally happy about it as an ipob member

yes they will not be happy to have their son Ben ahanotu who is more senior and better experience to be slaughtered on the altars of mediocrity,do they really have to sacrifice 10 generals so their man will be in that position regardless of seniority, experience and competence of better qualified generals that are more senior,it's a pity this is the reason Nigeria is down and out

How many senior Yoruba Generals are being sacrificed just to have their junior appointed because Buhari wants a Fulani, what is National Unity if he can't trust an Igbo or Yoruba?

This makes sense. If the FG were wise, they would appoint an Igbo Coas and embark on greater policies of inclusion to tone down the secessionist feelings in the East. But diplomacy is only a perogative of the FG relations with terrorists and Fulani bandits in this failed republic
