Can A Couple Live Together After Traditional Wedding? by Nobody: 5:06pm On Nov 02, 2012
The process of marrying a woman (of course in naija) is a herculean task: do dis do dat; 'sex after wedding 9t ni', 'my virginity ko'. As young ppl, we fantasize a lot: red carpet scenario n stuffs. After a lil while, d reality of a hard economy stares into our faces; poverty being worn like a golden necklace among majority of d populace.

Since the naija cultural system has declined to keep pace with d present realities of d economy, ladies r bcomin over-aged in der father's house. No thanks to d increasing access to sex on d other hand.

My questn is: can a couple move in with each other after traditional wedding (I'm a S/easterner) and I must confess dat its damn exorbitant for an average naija guy startin life.

N/landers pls throw more light!

The marriage recognised by the bible is the traditional marriage(the parents have given their blessings)

So,I see nothing wrong in living together and having se.x with your spouse after the traditional wedding.

Personaly for me,I dont intend to do any church wedding, just traditional wedding and them court(registry just to make things legal)

So it makes zero sense then to me to agree that white wedding is necessary to live together afterall white wedding is out of my plan,so does that mean my spouse wont live with me because I didnt do the white wedding.

What is most important in marriage is the paying of the bride price and this is mostly done in the traditional wedding, also the taking of marital vows which also can be done during the trado, but we Nigerians mostly celebrate wedding ceremonies twice - trado n white wedding, its very funny sha, how its like a usual norm in our society. We always mix westernization with our own culture. Therefore, traditional marriage only is enough reason for a couple to live together.

A traditional marriage is as legal as a church wedding. That's what most people keep forgetting.
Having a traditional wedding and a church is just double marriage as a traditional marriage is recognised be the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. But for more official purposes ie. ports and stuff, a court wedding is mandatory

My thoughts exactly plus the fact that white wedding is a white man culture. Traditional n white; the trading of double/two cultures
